Smoky Mountain Speedway releases very aggressive 2013 Schedule of Events

MARYVILLE, TN (February 7, 2013)—Officials with the Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN have released the 13-race schedule of events for the 2013 season which promises to be the largest season on record for the track located just minutes from Knoxville, TN. The schedule features six different Late Model tours along with Sprint Car and Open Wheel Modified action.

The season will open on Saturday March 23rd with the annual Rockin’ with the Stars event featuring the Cars and Stars of the Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series gunning for the $5,000 top prize in the 103.5 WIMZ sponsored event. The Southern All Stars also make two return visits on June 15 for the Tennessee RV Big Daddy 500 paying $5,000 to win and September 21 for the 3rd Annual King of the Mountain event paying $5,000 to win.

Ray Cook’s new Spring Nationals Series will compete on Saturday Night April 13th for $6,000 to win sponsored by Food City. The Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series will also make their second-ever visit on Friday Night July 26th paying $5,300 to win as part of the mid-summer two-week tour.

The World of Outlaws Late Model Series will make their first visit to Smoky Mountain Speedway since 2004 on Friday Night April 26th paying $10,000 to win as part of the opening of a double-header weekend WoO East-Tennessee swing with Tazewell Speedway the very next night.

On Saturday Night May 4th the United Sprint Car Series (USCS) will make their lone season visit paying $3,000 to win. That weekend is part of ‘Thunder in the Smokies’ sponsored by UJUNKDIT.COM where the Sprint Cars make their second-ever visits to 411 Motor Speedway on Friday Night and Smoky Mountain on Saturday Night.

The Ultimate Super Late Model Series will make two visits to Smoky Mountain first on Saturday Night May 25th paying $4,000 to win in the Ultimate Showdown. Their next visit is on Saturday July 6th for the Firecracker 500 paying $5,000 to win.

The Southern Regional Racing Series will make three series visits first on Saturday June 29th for their SRRS Speedweek paying $3,000 to win sponsored by Stanley Best Heating & Air. They also make return visits on Saturday August 10th paying $3,000 to win for the annual Ole Smoky Moonshine Classic and Saturday November 2nd for the Second Annual Triple Crown/Late Model Mania event paying $3,000 to win.

The American Modified Series will also make a single-season visit to Smoky Mountain Speedway on April 13th paying $3,000 to win during the Spring Nationals Super Late Model event.

The track will host their only un-sanctioned Super Late Model special event on Friday/Saturday October 25/26 as the NAPA Auto Parts sponsored Trick-or-Treat weekend commences paying $7,500 to win for the Super Late Models.

The Crate Late Models will have eleven dates on the schedule with special events on April 26 paying $1,500 to win and October 25/26 paying $2,000 to win. The other ten events either pay $800 or $1,000 to win. The Limited Late Models will have three events on the schedule paying $1,500 to win on May 4th, $1,000 to win on July 26th and $2,000 to win on November 2nd. The Street Stocks will compete 12 times this season along with three Mini Stock events. The Southern Mod Lites will have three visits on May 4th, September 21st and Friday October 25th while the Topless Mods will have two visits on June 15th and October 25/26.
