Brady Smith Racing Makes Switch to Rocket Chassis for 2014; Becomes Rocket Dealer!

(SOLON SPRINGS, WISCONSIN)  Brady Smith Racing, who wrapped up their 2013 campaign a little over a month ago with a strong top ten finish in the 'Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals' at the hallowed Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, is already making plans for their 2014 season.  Brady Smith announced today that he will make the switch from Bloomquist Race Cars to Rocket Chassis for the upcoming '14 racing season.  Brady will take delivery of the new Rocket cars next week and his business - Brady Smith Race Cars (BSRC) - will become a dealer for the popular Shinnston, West Virginia chassis builder.

"I am very excited to announce our move to Rocket cars for next year," quoted Brady in a telephone conversation earlier today.  "We had a fair amount of success with our Bloomquist cars over the past several seasons, but we made the decision to sell them after Knoxville and move forward with Rockets.  The business potential of being a Rocket dealer is definitely appealing because their cars work so well in varied conditions at tracks across the country.  Mark (Richards) and Steve (Baker), as well as everyone at Rocket, have been great to work with so far and I look forward to a great season with them in 2014."

In addition to the switch to Rocket Chassis for next year, Brady also revealed today that his team will be adding a couple of Cornett Engines to their arsenal.  The Solon Springs, Wisconsin ace will continue to utilize powerplants from Vic Hill Race Engines as well.  Brady Smith Racing is also seeking a couple of qualified crew members to add to the team this off-season.  If you are interested in a position with the #2 team, please send your resume and qualifications to bradysmith@centurytel.net.

With most of the series and track schedules still yet to be released for 2014, Brady is unsure of his racing plans for next year at this time.  However, Brady will most likely start out during "Speedweeks 2014" at the Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Florida and the Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida.  He will scour over schedules as the off-season progresses and will eventually post his own tentative schedule on his official website, which is located online at www.BradySmithRacing.com

PODIUM FINISH MARKS SOLID PERFORMANCE BY MOTTER MOTORSPORTS TEAM FRIDAY AT THE DIRT TRACK AT CHARLOTTE

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Nov. 8, 2013) – The best sprint car drivers in the country gathered at The Dirt Track at Charlotte for the first of two consecutive nights of competition that conclude the 2013 World of Outlaws season.

There were 55 STP Sprint car teams on the property, joined by the World of Outlaws Late Models and Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modifieds, providing fans with the first of two jammed packed nights of racing.

The unusual season-ending format was filled with so much racing - approximately 170 competitors - that Thursday was set aside for qualifying to determine heat race line-ups for Friday and Saturday’s events.

Joey Saldana drove the Motter Equipment Beltline Body Shop Fatheadz Eyewear 71M to the No. 12 qualifying position with a 13.196-second lap around the The Dirt Track oval.

The Outlaws qualifying-to-heat-race starting line-up formula placed Saldana on the outside of the front row in heat two.  Saldana capitalized on his starting position by grabbing the early lead when the green flag flew.  By lap two, fourth-place starter Donny Schatz had moved to second place, passing Pennsylvania Posse pole starter Adam Wilt.  Saldana began to put some distance between himself and the remainder of the 11 competitors in the heat.  The Brownsburg Bullet scored a wire to wire victory and crossed the finish line about 2.5 seconds ahead of second place Schatz.

The Bullet’s heat win earned him a starting berth in the all-important dash.  The inversion draw played into the hands of the Motter Motorsports team giving Saldana the pole.

Saldana took the early lead when the green waved to send off the 12 combatants in the dash but he was passed by Shane Stewart who was credited with leading the first lap. With one lap complete, the caution was displayed for Caleb Helms who had a flat tire.
Restart order:  Stewart, Saldana and Paul McMahan.  Back to green and again The Bullet led through turn one but third-place runner Brian Brown built up a tremendous amount of momentum and speed on the high side of the track and made a well-timed Talladega Nights Ricky Bobby-type slingshot move to pass Saldana and Stewart to take the lead, the dash win, and the pole of the A-Main.

Saldana finished second and earned the outside position on the front row for the A-Main.

Pole sitter Brian Brown, along with Saldana, brought the 26-car field down to the green flag to start the 30-lap A-Main. Brown took the early lead with Saldana close behind, and Schatz challenging The Bullet, fighting for second place.  Schatz was able to reel in Saldana and then went to work on Brown.  Schatz and Brown stalked each other, swapping the lead, but it was Schatz who prevailed to win the first event in the Charlotte doubleheader. Brown was second. Saldana held off a hard-charging Shane Stewart to finish third, rounding out the podium.

“It was a good run for our team,” said Saldana.  “We would like to be a tick better tomorrow.  This is a tricky track and it’s easy to overdrive the car.

“We’re looking forward to another great run here tomorrow night.”

With the team’s performance tonight, Motter Motorsports and Joey Saldana locked up
fourth place in 2013 World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car point standings.

Tonight’s event is scheduled to air on CBS Sports Network Sunday, Dec. 15 from 9 p.m. to Midnight Eastern time.
