Rilat Records Podium during Worfe Chevrolet Debut with Team

Inside Line Promotions - CLEVELAND, Texas (March 28, 2016) - Travis Rilat had a strong debut with his newest partner last weekend.

Rilat recorded a podium finish during his opening race with Worfe Chevrolet on Friday at Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige, Texas. The night began with Rilat winning his Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour heat race after starting on the outside of the front row. That earned him a spot in the feature redraw, where he pulled the No. 4 to start the main event on the outside of the second row.

"I think we had a good car," he said. "I made one mistake early in the race that cost me a position and possibly a bid for the lead. I bobbed instead of weaved and it let Sam Hafertepe Jr. get around me. Other than that we had a good night."

Rilat's third-place result marked his third top five of the season.

The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at Bronco Raceway Park, where Rilat advanced from seventh to sixth place in a heat race after a high pill draw put him behind the eight ball to start the night.

"Your whole night is determined by the draw," he said. "That can make or break you in certain circumstances. We've been drawing good this year. On Saturday I had to start at the back in a loaded heat."

That relegated Rilat to the B Main, where he maneuvered from sixth to fourth place to transfer into the back of the main event.

"I had a really good car in the A Main," he said. "On the last red with about eight laps to go we were running eighth or ninth. I made some tire pressure adjustments and that was the wrong move. We slid back about three spots."

Rilat held on for an 11th-place result.

He is slated to compete this Saturday at Gator Motorplex in Willis, Texas, for the Nolan Wren Memorial with the ASCS Gulf South Region.

Sides Rejuvenated from Trip Home as World of Outlaws West Coast Swing Continues

Inside Line Promotions - PLACERVILLE, Calif. (March 28, 2016) - Jason Sides took advantage of a much needed trip home during the holiday weekend.

Sides is refreshed as he will return to California this weekend to tackle Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, Calif., on Friday for the Ocean Outlaw Showdown presented by Budweiser and Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif., on Saturday for the Mini Gold Cup with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.

"It was great to get home," he said. "We're excited to get back into action at a pair of small tracks this weekend. The last time we were at Ocean Speedway was 2008 and that was the only time I've been there. I don't remember a whole lot about it."

Sides has a lot more experience at Silver Dollar Speedway, where he has registered a dozen top-10 finishes during the past eight years. Seven of those were top-five results, including four runner-up finishes.

"I've run second so many times I've lost count," he joked. "We've had some good runs and some bad runs in Chico so hopefully this weekend we'll land on the good side."

Sides was caught up in an incident during his most recent event last Wednesday at Placerville Speedway in Placerville, Calif., for the Brad Sweet presents the Placerville Short Track Outlaw Showdown.

Sides opened the night by qualifying 19th quickest before he placed sixth in a heat race and second in the Last Chance Showdown. That lined Sides up on the outside of the 11th row for the main event on the bullring.

"We had passed four or five cars and there was a crash on the second or third lap," he said. "I had nowhere to go and got collected in it. We jimmied up the top wing to keep it on there and put a shock on it and basically just rode around there for the rest of the race."

Sides ended with a 20th-place result.

Bruce Jr. Garners Top 10 at Park City Cup/Air Capital Shootout during Sprint Car Season Debut

Inside Line Promotions - PARK CITY, Kan. (March 28, 2016) - Tony Bruce Jr. pieced together a solid season debut in a winged sprint car last weekend during the 6th annual Park City Cup/Air Capital Shootout at 81 Speedway.

Bruce Jr., who drove for Danny King during the inaugural GoMuddy.com National Sprint League 360 Sprint Car Series event, kicked off the weekend last Friday by advancing from fifth to third place in a heat race. He then finished where he started - third - in a qualifier to garner the 10th most points out of 45 competitors, which locked Bruce Jr. into the 10th starting position for the main event.

"The track was rubber down on Friday night on the first lap of the main event," he said. "After everybody got single file that was pretty much it. We got a couple of positions early and then ran there."

Bruce Jr. maintained a top 10 throughout the feature and he finished with an eighth-place result.

The weekend concluded on Saturday at the 3/8-mile oval, where Bruce Jr. finished where he started in both the heat race - second - and qualifier - third. That put him 15th in overall points to garner the second-to-last lock-in spot into the 35-lap, $10,000-to-win main event.

"The track started taking rubber about eight laps in," he said. "We gained the positions we could early and then rode around just outside the top 10 for most of the race."

Bruce Jr. battled for his second straight top 10 for most of the main event before ending 11th.

"I felt like we had pretty good speed in the car and some solid finishes," he said. "Track position hurt us more than anything. For my first race of the year and not working together with Danny and the whole team that much, what we accomplished this weekend was pretty good. We never went backward in any race. All in all, it was a good experience and a fun time."

Bruce Jr. said he will likely return to action driving for King on April 16 at 81 Speedway with the GoMuddy.com National Sprint League 360 NCRA/NSL Region.

Kulhanek Rebounds for Two Top 10s with ASCS National Tour in Texas

Inside Line Promotions - CLEVELAND, Texas (March 28, 2016) - Ray Allen Kulhanek raced with a heavy heart last weekend.

Kulhanek's grandfather on his mother's side passed away Friday morning only a few hours before the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event at Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige, Texas.

"I know that's what he would have wanted me to be doing," Kulhanek said about deciding to race. "Thankfully Randy Allen with Alcon Construction took me to the track that night and Saturday since I'm still without a truck and trailer."

The weekend began Friday night when Kulhanek placed sixth in a heat race. He then rebounded from an incident in the B Main to finish fifth, which earned a transfer into the back of the main event.

"We climbed over someone's left front coming out of turn four," he said. "It bent and rolled the right rear torsion arm and right rear shock and broke the Jacob's Ladder. To even transfer was a tough accomplishment in itself. We didn't have much time to get ready for the A Main. We thrashed to get everything fixed and changed. We barely made it on the track for the A Main. I just took my time, kept my nose clean and got up through there and into the top 10."

Kulhanek capped the night by charging from 21st to a ninth-place result in the main event, which tied him for the most cars passed in the feature.

The action shifted to Bronco Raceway Park on Saturday. Kulhanek took the early lead in a heat race, but a mistake on the cushion and bad luck in traffic cost him two positions. That lined him up on the outside of the seventh row for the main event.

"We were really good in the A Main," he said. "I just started too far back. We had a bad start and I fell back to 16th or 17th. Then I just snaked my way back up to sixth. Fourth and fifth were right in front of me at the checkered flag. I hated to see the race end at that point.

"I was making the middle and the bottom of the track work. Most of the passes that I made I was able to go down there and I think that was a big key why we got to move up like we did."

Kulhanek posted a sixth-place finish, which marked his best result of the season.

He is scheduled to race this Saturday at Gator Motorplex in Willis, Texas, for the Nolan Wren Memorial with the ASCS Gulf South Region. Kulhanek is currently tied for the lead in the ASCS Gulf South Region championship standings.

Lasoski Nets Top Five at Inaugural GoMuddy.com NSL 360 Series Event

Inside Line Promotions - PARK CITY, Kan. (March 28, 2016) - Danny Lasoski scored a top-five finish last weekend during the inaugural GoMuddy.com National Sprint League 360 Sprint Car Series event.

Lasoski piloted his own sprint car during the doubleheader at 81 Speedway thanks to a loaned engine from Mark Burch Motorsports as Big Game Motorsports continues to focus on the National Sprint League season-opening event next month.

"I couldn't do this without the partners on my car, including Todd Creason, Randy Grages and Mark Burch," he said. "I'm excited to get back in the Muddy car soon and I wanted to support a brand like Muddy and the NSL last weekend at 81 Speedway."

Lasoski opened the event last Friday by advancing from third to second place in a heat race. He then charged from fourth to second place in a qualifier and was making a bid for the lead when a mechanical problem popped up midway through the race.

"We were looking really good," he said. "I made it to second and was beside the guy for the lead. We sheared off a spud shaft on the power steering pump. By the time I got it out of the back of the motor our shot to race that night was over."

Lasoski replaced the part prior to Saturday's $10,000-to-win event, which he began by winning a heat race from the pole position. Lasoski then maneuvered from fourth to second place in a qualifier to rank fourth in overall points. That lined him up on the outside of the second row for the 35-lap main event.

"We were looking real good," he said. "I just made the car too tight. They went out to try to make the race track so it wouldn't lay rubber. I knew I had to be tighter if it didn't. Low and behold here was the rubber about eight laps in. We went there to win and I knew I wouldn't win if we left the setup alone."

Lasoski battled inside the top five throughout the main event before posting a fourth-place result.

He will once again support the GoMuddy.com NSL 360 Series this Saturday at Randolph County Raceway in Moberly, Mo., before Big Game Motorsports returns to action on April 9 at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, for the National Sprint League season opener.
