Gregg Satterlee Scores First World of Outlaws Victory in Wisconsin, North/South Up Next!

Rochester Mills, PA (July 19, 2013) 'The Truth' Gregg Satterlee made a very successful trip west with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series (WoO) as the tour stopped at Shawano (WI) Speedway on Wednesday, July 30, Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, WI from Thursday, August 1 through Saturday, August 3 for the $50,000 to-win 'USA Nationals'. The tour wrapped up their trip west with a visit to Independence (IA) Speedway on Monday, August 5.

Satterlee's impressive trip began at Shawano (WI) Speedway on Wednesday, July 30 by setting the sixth fastest qualifying time of the 33 cars entered. Gregg then out ran WoO Rookie of the Year candidate Eric Wells, Billy Moyer and Clint Smith to win his heat race before pulling a number four for his A-Main starting position. Satterlee worked his way into the second spot after a lap-15 caution behind WoO regular Shane Clanton before Clanton slowed on lap-22 in a cloud of smoke. Gregg inherited the lead from there and never looked back while collecting the $10,000 top-prize and his first WoO Late Model Series victory.

"I wish my dad and good friend Dave could've been here for this," said Satterlee, who noted that the sprawling Shawano half-mile reminded him of Bedford Speedway and Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway near his Keystone State home. "They've both been with me from the start, so it would've been great for them to share this. I guess we'll just try to get another win when they're around."

"To get (a win) against this field of cars gives me a good confidence booster that we can do it again in the future," said Satterlee, who has registered at least one top-five finish on the WoO LMS in four of the last five seasons. "Every time you run good or win a race like this you learn something, and I think we learned some stuff tonight. I feel like we got a little better and hopefully we'll be to do it again real soon - before (entering) another 90 races."

From there Gregg made his way to Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, WI for the 'USA Nationals' weekend that kicked off on Thursday, August 1 with a $6,000 to-win WoO event. Gregg timed in 12th quickest in his group of 26 and finished a solid second in his heat race behind eventual feature winner and 2013 UMP Summernationals Champion Brandon Sheppard. Satterlee started the main event in the 12th slot but missed on the cars setup forcing Gregg to retire after 13 laps giving him a 26th place finish.

Despite their finish the night before, Gregg and crew chief Robbie Allen were full of confidence heading into the huge $50,000 to-win 'USA Nationals' on Friday and Saturday, August 2 and 3. Satterlee showed that confidence by timing in eighth fastest of the 53 cars to take time and finishing third in his heat race behind Chad Simpson and Don O'Neal to transfer to the 100-lap main event on Saturday. Gregg started the 'Crown Jewel' event in the 14th position and finished a respectable 16th in his first trip to the famed Wisconsin half-mile.

Still gleaming from his victory just five days earlier, Satterlee entered the fourth and final WoO event during this western swing at Independence (IA) Speedway on Monday, August 5. Gregg again got off to a quick start by setting the 6th fastest qualifying time during time trials and again winning his heat race. Gregg started the 50-lap, $10,000 to-win event in the third position and ran steadily in the top-five the entire distance before finishing fourth in the final run down.

'We're pretty happy with how the trip has gone,' Gregg said while on his way to West Liberty (IA) Speedway. 'We've made every show so far and have two top-five finishes and a win, I think if you would have told me we would have done that, I'm not sure I would have believed you. We have a little bit of momentum right now after running as well as we have against some of the best in the business every night, so we're going to head to West Liberty tonight for their $10,000 to-win before we make our way to Florence (KY) Speedway for the North/South 100 this upcoming weekend.'

Gregg and the Gregg Satterlee racing team will stay on the road through this upcoming weekend as they will visit the West Liberty Speedway in West Liberty, IA for an unsanctioned, $10,000 to-win event tonight, August 6. The team will take a few days off before making their way to Florence Speedway in Florence, KY for the $50,000 to-win North/South 100 sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series on Friday, August 9 and Saturday, August 10.
