Mike Marlar Masters the Mag for $20k Payday; Firecracker 100 Next

Winfield, Tennessee (06/18/13) - Mike Marlar turned his first-ever weekend in a Bloomquist Chassis into his first win of the season as he claimed the $20,000 top prize in the Clash at the Mag at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) on Saturday night in front of a capacity crowd at the state-of-the-art facility in his #5b Bryson Motorsports/Clements powered Super Late Model.

Forty-six Super Late Models registered for battle on Friday evening at the 3/8 mile oval, and Mike started his weekend by qualifying second fastest in his group to earn the pole starting spot for his heat race, which he won. In the redraw for the feature he received the third starting spot for Saturday night's 100 lap finale.

As the feature went green on Saturday night Marlar assumed control of the second spot behind leader, Don O'Neal. For the first half of the event Marlar held down the runner-up position as he kept O'Neal in check. Just after the midway point John Blankenship shuffled Marlar back to third, and that's where Mike would run until a lap 88 restart. On the restart Mike went to work on the high side of the track first passing Blankenship before overtaking O'Neal for the lead exiting turn two on lap 92.

Once out front Mike never looked back on his way to the victory, which came in front of the Lucas Oil Production Studios Cameras. He was followed across the finish line by O'Neal, Blankenship, Jimmy Owens, and Randy Weaver.

"When I saw the caution come out, I got down in some dry dirt on the bottom of the track, and then I had to clean my tires off really good for the restart," said Marlar. "It was good to have one more shot at it there at the end. I lined up beside Blankenship for the restart, and my car took off really well up top, and it only took us a few laps to get by O'Neal. They had an awesome race track here tonight, we have always enjoyed coming down here to Mississippi to race, and they have a lot of great fans here."

Full results from the event are available at www.LucasDirt.com .

The team currently doesn't plan to race anywhere this weekend, but rather turns its attention to the 5th Annual Firecracker 100, which will be held at Lernerville Speedway (Sarver, Pennsylvania) on July 27th-29th. The World of Outlaws (WoO) Super Late Model program will see $6,000-to-win races held on Thursday and Friday night before the festivities conclude on Saturday evening with a $30,000-to-win event. Rodney Sanders Increases 2013 Win Total to Eleven; Busy Slate Ahead

Happy, Texas (06/18/13) - Rodney Sanders raced to his eleventh win of the season over the weekend in his #20 Swan Energy/Kimrad Transport/MB Customs/Geddes Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified.

The team opened a busy week on Tuesday night at I-35 Speedway (Mason City, Iowa) with a $5,000-to-win race, which was sanctioned by the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS). Thirty competitors registered for battle, and via a heat race win in preliminary action Sanders earned the fifth starting spot for the 40 lap finale. Rodney progressively worked his way forward during the course of the feature before crossing the finish line just a few feet behind race winner, Jason Hughes, to register a second place finish.

Wednesday evening took the USMTS racers to Amsoil Speedway (Superior, Wisconsin) for a $2,000-to-win program. Twenty-seven entries registered for action, and on a track, where passing was difficult he started and finished fifth in his heat race, which left him starting fifteenth on the grid for the feature. Lap 6 of the main event found Sanders retiring from the feature due to poor track conditions.

On Thursday evening Rodney competed in a $2,000-to-win event at Eagle Valley Speedway (Jim Falls, Wisconsin) as a stout field of thirty-six entries filled the pit area. A third to second run in his heat race positioned him starting tenth in the feature event. He was up to sixth in the feature, when a mechanical failure forced him pitside to a nineteenth place finish.

Rodney Sanders began a two-night stand with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) and UMP Summernationals at Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wisconsin) on Friday evening for the opening round of the annual Masters. Thirty-six Open Wheel Modifieds were on hand for the $4,000-to-win program, and Sanders won his heat race from the pole position to move onto the redraw for the feature, where he was the recipient of the sixth starting spot for the 35 lap affair. As the race went green Rodney quickly found his way into the second spot and stalked the leader until lap 29, when he took over the top spot from Lucas Schott. Sanders led the last six laps on his way to the win, which marked his eleventh victory of 2013! He was followed across the finish line by Lucas Schott, Trent Follmer, Darrell Nelson, and Joey Jensen.

In UMP Super Late Model action a strong field of thirty-one competitors were in the pit area, and after qualifying eighth fastest in his group he finished seventh in his heat race, which left him short of locking into the feature. While his heat performance didn't transfer him to the feature he was scheduled to start fourth on the grid for the consolation event. Unfortunately mechanical issues discovered after the completion of heat race action forced the team to scratch from the remainder of the event.
The second leg of the Masters on Saturday night fell victim to Mother Nature at Cedar Lake Speedway as the event was canceled.

Full results from the events are available at www.USMTS.com and www.TheHellTour.com .

Rodney Sanders has another busy slate in front of him as he plans to enter ten events in eleven days in his Open Wheel Modified. Below is a list of scheduled events:

Gregg Satterlee Aiming To End Love/Hate Relationship With Firecracker 100 Presented by GottaRace.com At Lernerville Speedway

Rising Western Pennsylvania Star Ready For Three-Night World of Outlaws Late Model Series Spectacular June 27-29

SARVER, PA – June 18, 2013 – Gregg Satterlee has a love/hate relationship with the Firecracker 100 Presented by GottaRace.com at Lernerville Speedway.

On one hand, he absolutely adores the event. On the other hand, the 100-lap World of Outlaws Late Model Series A-Main has brought him nothing but frustration.

Conventional wisdom would point to Satterlee being one of the poster boys for the Firecracker 100, which celebrates its seventh annual running on June 27-29. He’s young (28 years old), lives just an hour from Lernerville (in Rochester Mills, Pa.), has proven himself at the four-tenths-mile oval (13 career wins) and has emerged in recent years as a regional standout (2012 Three State Flyers Series champ, ’13 Allegheny Mountain Speedweek titlist, strong runs in WoO LMS competition).

But as Satterlee readily admits, his performance in his home state’s richest dirt Late Model race has been forgettable. He has entered every Firecracker 100 but hasn’t finished better than 16th in four feature starts – a blemish on his burgeoning resume that he is aiming to rectify during this year’s summer-starting spectacular, which includes 30-lap, $6,000-to-win preliminary WoO LMS A-Mains on Thurs., June 27, and Fri., June 28, leading into the 100-lap finale offering a $30,000 first-place prize on Sat., June 29.

“We’ve never been good in the 100-lap race,” said Satterlee, who launched his dirt Late Model driving career the season before the inaugural Firecracker 100 was contested in 2007. “We used to run at Lernerville every week and could win 25-lap races without a problem, but it seems like when they drop the green flag for that race we’re just not where we need to be.

“Sure, the competition is definitely a lot tougher than on a regular Friday night there. But in every 100 we’ve been in there, as soon as the green flag has come out, I’ve felt that we were off. We have to figure out what we need to do to get a little bit better.”

Satterlee’s struggles in the Firecracker 100 are perplexing – not only to him, but also dirt Late Model observers who have watched him grow into a bona fide threat wherever he unloads his family-owned Rocket cars. It seems inconceivable that a driver who’s shown as much potential as Satterlee – at least one top-five WoO LMS finish in four of the last five seasons, an impressive 12 feature wins at 10 different tracks in 2012 – would have no memorable outings in the marquee event at a track he knows well, but that’s indeed the case.

A look at Satterlee’s Firecracker 100 performance record shows two DNQs (2007 and ’10) and four lackluster finishes: 16th (’08), 27th (’09), 27th (’11) and 21st (’12). He has been running at the checkered flag of the 100 just once (’08, when he ended the race one lap down), and since the weekend was expanded in 2010 he’s qualified for just two of the six preliminary features (finished 22nd on Thursday night in ’10, seventh on Friday night in ’12). He’s also qualified poorly over the past six years, compiling a 29.0 average time-trial placing.

Ask Satterlee to pinpoint the source of his Firecracker 100 misery and he’ll calmly respond.
“We’re missing on the setup,” said Satterlee, who when not racing works as a fuel truck dispatcher at his family’s Satterlee Petroleum Distributors. “The track gets so slippery (during the Firecracker) so you put hard tires on – and basically, from what you’re used to running there, you’re in a completely different condition. Even though it can be slippery on a regular night too, when you put those hard tires on (for the Firecracker) your car immediately handles differently.

“The tires make a huge difference. What you’re used to feeling when you’re racing there...when you put hard tires on, you don’t get that feeling anymore. So you almost have to race different and have a different setup on the car.

“I think we need to aim to do a little better with making that adjustment (for the tires) as well as look to be smooth and patient for the whole race,” he added. “I have no doubt that if we have a good car we can run at the front of that race – I have no doubt. But we need to make the right decisions so we’re good enough to be there at the end of (the 100) instead of standing in the infield watching it.”

Satterlee considers his quest for Firecracker 100 success to be another facet of his dirt Late Model education. With less a decade of racing under his belt, he’s still a relative newcomer to the sport. He’s attempted to speed up his maturation process by running against top-notch competition (he’s entered 81 WoO LMS events since ’07 and started 54 A-Mains) and associating himself with veteran mechanical hands like Robby Allen, the former Rick Eckert crew chief who is in his second season as Satterlee’s head wrench.

“I think a lot of it is that you just gotta race and race and race,” said Satterlee, whose career-best WoO LMS finish is fourth (July 29, 2010, at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio, June 16, 2012, at Maryland’s Hagerstown Speedway and Feb. 8, 2013, at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Fla.). “It’s a long learning curve. I think we’re getting better, learning stuff each race about what we need to do in different conditions. Robby and I are working together better and better. I think we got a good team, good cars, good motors (Roush Yates) – a real good package. We just gotta keep racing with the better group of cars and learning how to do things right.

“There’s a big difference when you race against the regional guys and then unload at a race like (a WoO LMS event). The regional guys we race against are certainly good, but you realize that these fulltime guys are as good as it gets. Compared to the normal way you’re comfortable racing, they are just going a little bit harder and they’re comfortable. You realize that you almost have to drive above your comfort level to race with them. You just gotta go as hard as you can every single lap – and if you slow down, you’re gonna get passed.

“I think we can do that now more consistently, especially at tracks we know better,” he concluded. “But we still have a ways to go.”

With 14 starts in the 22-day span between May 24 and June 15, Satterlee’s skills should be razor-sharp as he looks toward the Firecracker 100. He’s hoping he’s ready for the big tripleheader that presents a unique challenge.

“You’ve got three nights and it seems like you always get three different racetracks there,” Satterlee said of Lernerville. “You can’t necessarily think because you’re good Thursday that you’re gonna be good Friday or good Saturday. I think you just gotta pay close attention to what the racetrack is doing and have two good nights leading up to Saturday night so hopefully you’ll get a good starting spot (in a heat race).”
Could Satterlee become the first home-grown Pennsylvania to win the Firecracker 100? He’s definitely considered the possibility.

“It would be the biggest win in my career by a lot,” said Satterlee, who this season has registered three of his 47 career dirt Late Model victories. “I’m sure it would be a lot of fun afterward. We’d be there all night partying. We’re only about an hour away from the track, so we have a lot of family and fans who come to watch us at Lernerville.

“I’d even take a win in one of those preliminary races – like Stoney (Dan Stone) pulled off last year – as a first step towards winning the big one. But it’ll be fun either way. It always is there.”
Indeed, for Satterlee, the Firecracker 100 is a race weekend that simply can’t be a downer no matter his results.

“It’s my favorite race to go,” said Satterlee. “I love Lernerville, and it’s a cool event. (Lernerville general manager) Gary Risch (Jr.) and his staff do a great job for the fans and the racers with everything they have going on there – like the horseshoes and Cornhole (tournaments), the kick-ball game this year, the concert after the races. It’s just a lot of fun.

“Even if you don’t run good,” he smiled, “it’s still a fun time.”

Three-day Firecracker 100 reserved-seat packages value-priced at $69 for adults and $19 for children 10-and-under – with a free fan pit pass for Thursday and Friday included if purchased by midnight ET on Wed., June 26 – and single-day tickets are on sale at www.lernerville.com and www.worldofoutlaws.com/tickets or by calling 724-353-1511.

Time trials will commence at 7:15 p.m. on Thurs., June 27, and Fri., June 28, with heat racing to begin at 8:05 p.m. The Sat., June 29, program, which includes heat races aligned by drivers’ best finishes during the preliminary nights, B-Mains, the $3,000-to-win ‘Uncle Sam 30’ Non-Qualifiers’ Race and the Firecracker 100 presented by GottaRace.com, will get the green flag at 7:35 p.m.

The huge Firecracker 100 weekend includes fireworks; post-race concerts; the inaugural Firecracker 100 ‘Kick It Cup’ kickball game featuring WoO LMS and Lernerville drivers on Friday afternoon; a Saturday afternoon filled with driver/fan horseshoes and cornhole tournaments, on-stage driver interviews, the DirtonDirt.com Driver/Fan Trivia Contest, the Ms. Firecracker pagaent and a wienie roast; and a driver autograph session underneath the grandstands prior to Saturday night’s program.

Bruce Jr. Rallies to Earn Two Top Fives During Sizzlin' Summer Speedweek

Inside Line Promotions - VIVIAN, La. (June 17, 2013) - Last weekend could have been really, really ugly.
Instead, Tony Bruce Jr. salvaged the first half of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Sizzlin' Summer Speedweek by gaining 29 positions in the features to end with a pair of top fives and a 12th-place finish in a trio of events.

"We got plagued by the draw," he said. "We pretty much started in the back of everything we were in."
Bruce Jr. started sixth and finished fifth in his heat race to open Speedweek at Kennedale Speedway Park in Kennedale, Texas, on Friday. That forced him to start eighth in a B Main, which transferred the top three to the back of the main event. Bruce Jr. rallied to finish fifth, but had to utilize his first provisional of the season to tag the feature.

"We got the car better, but at the same time the track widened out and came around," he said. "We had a really good car. We were good; we were just stuck in the back all night long."

That changed in the feature when he charged from last - 23rd - to finish 12th in his first appearance at the quarter-mile oval.

Similar circumstances greeted Bruce Jr. on Saturday at Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, for the 40th annual Summer Nationals. After drawing the highest number in the pill draw, Bruce Jr. was only able to move from eighth to seventh during his heat race on the narrow track.

"We just couldn't get through the heat races," he said. "We've got to make some adjustments either car wise or driver wise to get through the heats.

"Not only were we starting in the back of the heat races, we were starting in the back of the B Mains. We just couldn't go far enough forward."

Bruce Jr. charged from eighth to fourth in his B Main, but missed transferring to the feature by one position. It forced him to use another provisional.

"It's something we really haven't been accustomed to," he said. "We went the whole year last year without using a provisional until the final race. I used one in a year and a half and I had to use two on back-to-back nights."

After a caution on the opening lap, the rest of the race was caution-free as Bruce Jr. maneuvered from 23rd to crack the top five in the closing laps.

"We literally passed every single car under green," he said after finishing fifth. "Honestly, that's probably the fastest I've ever been at Devil's Bowl and as good as I can remember. If we could have had a caution I actually think we could have had a chance to win it."

The weekend concluded on Sunday when Bruce Jr. made his first-ever visit to Ark-La-Tex Speedway. This time Bruce Jr. rallied from fifth to finish third in his heat race, which earned him enough points to make it into the feature redraw. He pulled the No. 5 to start on the inside of the third row.

"We were good in the A Main," he said. "At one point I was up to fourth. Right before the final caution I was under Jeff (Swindell) for third. When we went green I tried to go to the bottom to get around Jeff and (Channin) Tankersley drove around us."

Bruce Jr. held on for his second straight fifth-place finish and his 10th top five of the season.

He is currently ninth in the Speedweek standings - only 10 points out of the top four. Speedweek resumes on Wednesday at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla., before a trip to Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla., on Thursday and the finale at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., on Saturday.

Big Game Motorsports Powers to Four Combined Top 10s in Impressive Weekend

Inside Line Promotions - KNOXVILLE, Iowa (June 17, 2013) - Big Game Motorsports is definitely hitting its stride as Craig Dollansky and Sammy Swindell each captured a pair of top-10 finishes last weekend with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series.

In one of the closest events to the Big Game Treestands headquarters this season, Jackson Speedway in Jackson, Minn., hosted The Big Game Shootout Presented by Eyecon Trail Cameras on Friday.
In his Big Game Treestands backed car, Swindell qualified second quickest and Dollansky piloted the Eyecon Trail Cameras car to the fourth-quickest time. The teammates both advanced through their heat races to make the dash, which Dollansky won for the fourth time this season as Swindell finished third.
"We had a pretty good car to start the night," Dollansky said. "It seemed like the car wasn't balanced as well in the feature, whether it was our stagger choice or tire compound."

While Donny Schatz claimed The Big Game Shootout Presented by Eyecon Trail Cameras feature, the Big Game Motorsports teammates were the show. Dollansky and Swindell battled side by side for the second half of the main event, with Dollansky powering the Eyecon Trail Cameras car around the top groove and Swindell hitting his marks on the inside line of the half-mile track.

"I for sure would have liked to be racing for the win with him, but it was definitely a good battle," Dollansky said. "It was a good race for the fans. It was good to be close where some of the Big Game employees could come to the event."

The duo officially swapped the final spot on the podium four times with Dollansky taking third place for good with two laps remaining.

"We were really close from second to fourth, wasn't very much difference," Swindell said after finishing fourth. "We had a car capable of being in the top three and was maybe only a foot or so that we lost it."
The Eyecon Trail Cameras and Big Game Treestands teams headed to Knoxville Raceway on Saturday for one final World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series tune-up before the famed Knoxville Nationals this August.

Dollansky qualified fifth quickest and finished third in his heat race to narrowly miss making the dash by one position. Swindell timed in eighth quickest and placed fifth in his heat race as the team struggled with some adjustments.

The Big Game Motorsports drivers both advanced to the main event with the Eyecon Trail Cameras car starting 13th and the Big Game Treestands car starting 15th.

"It didn't seem like we were quite right," Swindell said. "We missed on our tires and their pressures. We weren't real bad until we had the yellow and the right rear tire went down. If it would have stayed green the whole way we might have been in the top five."

Swindell and Dollansky battled within the top 10 for most of the race as both made a late charge toward a top five. However, the Big Game Motorsports teammates were both passed in traffic by a couple of cars in the closing laps and Dollansky placed ninth with Swindell rounding out the top 10.

"We weren't where we wanted to be with our race car," Dollansky said. "We were a little off all night long. We got out of there with a top-10 finish. We learned some things to go in there in August and we're definitely getting our car balanced more consistently here."

Dollansky ranks fourth in the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series standings with Swindell only 18 points behind in fifth place. The series will compete on Friday at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D., before making its inaugural visit to I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls, Minn., on Saturday.

SALDANA AND 71M TEAM MAKING PLANS
FOR GRAND FORKS AND FERGUS FALLS

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (June 18, 2013) – The next ‘at bat’ for Motter Equipment Fatheadz Eyewear 71M driver Joey Saldana and the World of Outlaws is Friday, June 21 at River Cities Speedway.

This will be the Outlaws’ twelfth appearance since the 2007 inaugural event won by Saldana.  The Brownsburg Bullet followed that victory with another in 2010.

The legendary 3/10-mile high-banked bullring will be filled with drivers who will be trying to find the best strategy to be safe, yet fast.

“Driving on this track is tricky because it’s small and you are always in traffic,” said Saldana.  “One accident or one car out of shape can collect a lot of cars and cause damage that might end your night.  You have to be extra alert if that’s possible.

“While it’s a challenging night for the drivers, it is sure to be a great show for the fans.”

At the conclusion of the River Cities Speedway event, the Outlaws competitors will drive about 140 miles south to I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls, Minn.

This will be the inaugural Outlaws event on this 3/8-mile high bank dirt track.  All competitors will be on equal footing:  no wins, no losses.

Following the Knoxville event last Saturday, the 71M team headed to team owner Dan Motter’s business headquarters near Hibbing, Minn. and has been sorting through data they have collected so far this season to strategize and get ready for the weekend.

“We need to find consistency,” said Motter.  “We have had some great performances this year but we need to be more consistent.  We want to be well prepared as the big money races of this summer are fast approaching.”

So far this season, the team has three quick times, two track records and seven top-five finishes.

Dover Finishes Second at ASCS Warrior Region Budweiser Shootout

Inside Line Promotions - CAMERON, Mo. (June 18, 2013) - Jack Dover's plan for a tripleheader last weekend was cut down to one race, but what a race it was.

"It was one of the best tracks I've raced on in a long time," he said. "It was really, really good. There was a top, a bottom. Actually, there was a pretty good middle. It was really wide."

Dover's lone event of the weekend was the Budweiser Shootout on Friday with the ASCS Warrior Region at U.S. 36 Raceway, where he maneuvered from third to second in his heat race to qualify for the feature redraw. Unfortunately, he picked the highest number - eight - to start the main event on the outside of the fourth row.

Dover quickly reached the top five and spent half of the race chasing Russ Hall for a position.
"I spent a lot of time trying to get around him," Dover said. "It was like he had mirrors in his car and everywhere I went, he moved there."

In the closing laps Dover passed Hall and then rocketed toward the lead, capitalizing on a power move through turns three and four on the final lap to garner the runner-up position and finish a car length behind the leader.

"We were right there with first, probably a car length from getting the win," he said. "It was that close. It makes me wonder if I wouldn't have gotten held up that whole race if I would have won the thing."
Dover and his team drove approximately two hours to Warrensburg, Mo., en route to Saturday's event at L A Raceway in LaMonte. They washed the car and did maintenance before the race was rained out Saturday afternoon. With a 300-mile drive and another threatening forecast for Sunday at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan., Dover decided to head home.

"It was a good business call," he said. "I came home and spent Father's Day with my dad. We pretty much shot guns all day and hung out outside."

The only event scheduled this weekend is a doubleheader on Saturday at Butler County Speedway in Rising City, Neb., with the Nebraska 360 Sprints. The May 18 feature, which Dover was running third before it was postponed because of weather, will be finished before a complete program on Saturday.

Rilat Notches Top 10s in Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Speedweek Action

Inside Line Promotions - MESQUITE, Texas (June 18, 2013) - After taking a couple of weeks off, Travis Rilat scored a pair of top 10s in his return to Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour action last weekend.
Rilat competed in his own car during the first two events of the Sizzlin' Summer Speedweek, recording a 10th-place finish in his second career race at Kennedale Speedway Park in Kennedale, Texas, on Friday and a sixth-place result on Saturday at Devil's Bowl Speedway during the 40th annual Summer Nationals.
"It was an average weekend," he said. "We rolled it back in the trailer in one piece so that's a plus. We're having two new engines built right now. We were fortunate enough to have a good friend in Motor Mike to loan us an engine for the weekend so we could get out there."

Rilat maneuvered from fourth to third in his heat race at Kennedale Speedway Park, which placed him on the pole of a B Main. He led the entire 12 laps and then charged from 17th to 10th in the feature at the quarter-mile oval.

"I was just reading the other cars and going where they weren't," he said. "The track was racy. You could run the top and the bottom. Kevin Ramey has taken it over and has made a lot of improvements. He's done a fine job of making the track where it's suitable for sprint cars."

On Saturday, Rilat led the distance of his heat race at Devil's Bowl Speedway to earn his sixth heat victory of the season.

"The track was heavy and narrow to start out with," he said. "I was fortunate to draw the pole of the heat and win it. That put us third in the redraw."

Rilat started the feature third and finished sixth to garner his sixth top-10 result of the season.
This weekend he heads to Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash., for the 42nd annual Jim Raper Memorial - a $20,000-to-win event he will drive for Richard Saumure Thursday through Saturday. Rilat won a preliminary night last season.

"I'm very excited about that," he said. "I think we go pretty decent at that track. I'd put it up there in the same category with Knoxille, Eldora, Little Rock, Gold Cup. There's 10 or 15 big races in the country and this is one of them. The competition is going to be pretty stout."

QUICK RESULTS -
June 14 - Kennedale Speedway Park in Kennedale, Texas - Heat race: 3 (4); B Main: 1 (1); Feature: 10 (17).
June 15 - Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas - Heat race: 1 (1); Feature: 6 (3).

Hahn Accomplishes Goal in Two of First Three Sizzlin' Summer Speedweek Races

Inside Line Promotions - VIVIAN, La. (June 18, 2013) - Brandon Hahn's goal during the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Sizzlin' Summer Speedweek is simple.

"My goal for every Speedweek race is to make the show and we'll go from there," he said. "When there's 40 cars every night, it's hard to make the show."

Halfway through the six-race, nine-day spectacle across four states, Hahn advanced to the feature in two of the three Speedweek races last week. The opening event was the most difficult, when Hahn finished sixth in a B Main at Kennedale Speedway Park in Kennedale, Texas, on Friday.

"We got out of the gate pretty bad," he said. "That place was locked down and it was impossible to pass. It never slowed down. It was so tacky all night. It was hard to pass and I couldn't do anything. I just could not make anything happen."

His performances improved from there. On Friday, Hahn rallied from eighth to fifth in his heat race and he won a B Main at Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, to advance to the feature at the 40th annual Summer Nationals.

"Devil's Bowl was our best race," he said. "Our car was working the best at Devil's Bowl. We could move around and pass some cars."

Hahn finished 17th in the feature on the fast half-mile track.

The week concluded on Sunday at Ark-La-Tex Speedway, where he made his first appearance ever. After finishing sixth in his heat race and starting 17 th in the main event, Hahn was sidelined early by engine issues that relegated him to a 19th-place result.

"We had some really bad luck," he said. "We ended up blowing an engine, so not too good for the first three days. I'm just praying the next three races go better."

The Sizzlin' Summer Speedweek resumes on Wednesday at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla., before Thursday's race at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla. - a track where Hahn began racing.
"I don't get around there bad, I just have really, really bad luck there," he said. "Every time I go there it seems like something bad happens. We can only hope we can put together a good run and turn around that luck."
Speedweek wraps up on Saturday at one of Hahn's favorite tracks - Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo.

"I'm excited about Lucas Oil," he said. "I dig that place. For one, the facility is just out of this world. It is just a beautiful race track. The two times I've been there I've done decent. When you go to a race track and you do well, you tend to like it. And it's fast."

QUICK RESULTS -
June 14 - Kennedale Speedway Park in Kennedale, Texas - Heat race: 4 (2); B Main: 6 (6).
June 15 - Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas - Heat race: 5 (8); B Main: 1 (1); Feature: 17 (18).
