Chris Madden Captures Opening Night of AL State Championship Races at East Alabama Phenix City, AL-September 28, 2013- The Southern All Star Racing Series rolled into East Alabama Motor Speedway to sanction, for the first-time ever, the 35th Annual Alabama State Championship Races and the opening event of the weekend would see Chris Madden of Gray Court, SC lead all 40 laps of the event in route to a $4,000 payday aboard his Century Plastics/Hamrick’s of Gaffney/Hoosier Tire South/VP Racing Fuel sponsored #44 Bloomquist Chassis powered by a Clements Race Engine. The victory by Madden was his third of the season with the Fayetteville, TN home-based tour and 42nd of his career, ranking him second on the series all-time win list. Madden, a two-time series champion in 2005 and 2006, has previous series wins this season at Volunteer Speedway and Smoky Mountain Speedway back in June. Chris Madden and Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, GA would bring the field to the green flag and Madden would immediately launch himself into the race lead. Madden and Davenport would hold these positions throughout the course of the event, with Davenport attempting to work under Madden on several occasions in an attempt to take the race lead, but would come up short on each attempt to grab the top position. Madden would roll under the checkered flag first, with Davenport giving chase as he had throughout the entire event. Ivedent Lloyd, Jr. of Ocala, FL would take the final podium position with a third place effort, while Randy Weaver of Crossville, TN would score a fourth place effort. Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC would be round out the top five in the 40 lap, $4,000 to win contest. The remainder of the top ten finishers on the opening day of the 35th Annual Alabama State Championship Races would be Shane Clanton of Zebulon, GA, Casey Roberts of Toccoa, GA, William Thomas of Phenix City, AL, 14th starting Jason Hiett of Oxford, AL, and Clint Smith of Senoia, GA. The next Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series event is on Sunday afternoon September 29 at East Alabama Motor Speedway for the second half and final day of the 35th Annual Alabama State Championship Races, with the event being 40 laps and $4,000 to win.
