Buddy Rogers Memorial on Tap at Tazewell Speedway for SAS Racing Series September 1

Fayetteville, TN- August 26, 2013- The beat goes on as the Southern All Star Racing Series returns to action to begin a busy month of September with a return visit to Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN on Sunday September 1 for the 5th Annual Buddy Rogers Memorial in memory of the late East Tennessee racer that will be 44 laps in distance and pay $4,400 to win and $300 to start, with the “44” being used as a tribute to the late Mr. Rogers car number.  The event is also a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society and “Pup” Thomas with Hoosier Tire promotes getting each lap sponsored for this event and all the proceeds go to benefit the ACS.   

The Southern All Star Racing Series event at Tazewell Speedway on Sunday September 1 will feature a complete program of practice, WhitePerformance.com A-B Group Time Trials, PPM Racing Products Last Chance Showdowns, and will conclude with the 44 lap, $4,400 to win 5th Annual Buddy Rogers Memorial A-Main.  Support divisions set to join the Southern All Star Racing Series in action at Tazewell Speedway for the 5th Annual Buddy Rogers Memorial will include the track’s Late Model Sportsman, Modified Street, Classic Car, Four Cylinder, and Pure Street divisions.

The visit by the Southern All Star Racing Series to Tazewell Speedway on Sunday September 1 will be the tour’s second visit at the East Tennessee facility in 2013, with Billy Ogle, Jr. being credited with the win in the previous series visit on April 6 this season and the Summer Sizzler event back in July was rained out and not able to be rescheduled.  It will mark the 14th series visit by the Southern All Star Racing Series to Tazewell Speedway, with the high-speed racing action at the track producing nine different series winners.  Duayne Hommel of Newport, TN, Billy Ogle, Jr. of Knoxville, TN, Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN, and the late Scott Sexton of Pigeon Forge, TN have been the only repeat winners in SAS racing competition at Tazewell Speedway, with that quartet of racers each owning two victories each.  

Among those expected from the Southern All Star Racing Series stable of drivers include series points leader Riley Hickman of Chattanooga, TN, Bret Holmes of Munford, AL, Mark Rosner of Rockford, TN, Mike Weeks of Friendsville, TN, Billy Ogle, Jr. of Knoxville, TN, Mark Vineyard of Powell, TN, Randy Weaver of Crossville, TN, along with a strong array of talented local and regional racing stars such as Daniel Baggerly of Rural Retreat, VA, Stacy Boles of Clinton, TN, Mark Douglas of Knoxville, TN, Jeff Wolfenbarger of Clinton, TN, Josh Collins of Knoxville, TN, Tommy Kerr of Maryville, TN, Steve Smith of Powell, TN, Vic Hill of Mosheim, TN, Josh Henry of Newport, TN, Kayne Hickman of Soddy Daisy, TN, Bryan Hendrix of Knoxville, TN, Jason Trammell of Powell, TN,  plus many more are expected.  The tour has presented fifteen races so far in 2013 and has seen ten different drivers visit victory with the series this season.

Activities for the Southern All Star Racing Series 5th Annual Buddy Rogers Memorial event at Tazewell Speedway on Sunday September 1 will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m., with the general admission area open at 5:00 p.m.  There will be a special driver’s autograph session from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the general admission area, while the drivers meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m, with practice set to start at 8:00 p.m., followed immediately by time trials and green flag racing.  All times listed are Eastern Daylight Time.  Ticket prices for the 5th Annual Buddy Rogers Memorial at Tazewell Speedway in the general admission area will be $20 for adults, while a pit pass will be $30.

The entry fee for the Sunday September 1 Buddy Rogers Memorial event at Tazewell Speedway is $100 and can be made payable to the Southern All Star Racing Series.  The tire rule is exclusively Hoosier Tires and the only compounds eligible to be used are the Hoosier 1350, 1450, and 1600 compounds.
