11th Annual Governors Cup Southern All Star Event Set For Magnolia July 19th
FAYETTEVILLE, TN—The Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series will make stop #9 of the 2014 season on Saturday night July 19th at the Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS., for the 11th Annual Governors Cup a 40 lap $4,000 to win event.
This will mark the first appearance of the series this year in Mississippi and many of the drivers look forward to the trip to the Johnny Stokes prepared “Black Ice” as it will feature multiple lanes, side by side racing as well as some of the best action of any track in the country.
2013 series champion Riley Hickman of Cleveland, TN., who has the season opening win at Boyds Speedway this year will lead the Southern All Star drivers into the event with an 82 lead over the fellow east Tennessee driver Todd Morrow of East Ridge, who has won three series events this year two of those win came at Talladega Short Track and the other at Tennessee National Raceway, but these two drivers are not the only ones that are in a tight points battle for the 2014 crown. Former SRRS champion Josh Putnam of Florence, AL., is making his first run at the Southern All Star title and is currently third in series standings just 20 points behind Morrow, fourth place is Dylan Ames of Harvest, AL., who is also still in title contention and is only 18 points behind Putnam and the current Cruise with the Champions/Dirt Ion Dirt Rookie of the Year leader is Chris Wilson of Crossville, TN., who only two points behind Ames and just 40 points from second spot, so this years points battle is shaping up to be a good one.
Drivers from across the area that are expected to be in action include Jason Hiett, Bo Shirley, Mark Gant, David Seibers, Dane Dacus, Brett White, Jamie Tollison, Leon Henderson, Chad Thrash, Chad McCool, Eddie Rickman, Rick Rickman, Scott Dedwylder, Ronnie Lee Hollingsworth, Eric Cooley and many more.
On Friday night July 18th there will be special practice session from 6pm-10pm for all classes, then on Saturday night July 19thg pits gates will open at 3pm with drivers meeting set for 6:30pm and hot laps to star immediately.
The Southern All Star Dirt Racing series program will consist of White Performance Group A & B Qualifying PPM Racing Products B Mains, and a 40 lap $4,000 to win event, along with a full weekly racing show.
