Stars and Stripes 40 Up for Southern All Star Racing Series at Cleveland Speedway July 13

Fayetteville, TN- July 4, 2013- The Southern All Star Racing Series will continue a busy month of July when it makes its third visit of the 2013 racing season to the 1/3 mile semi-banked clay oval known as Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, TN for the Stars and Stripes 40, paying $4,000 to the winner and $300 to start on Saturday July 13.

Along with the Stars and Stripes 40 for the Southern All Star Racing Series and other local racing divisions, Cleveland Speedway will also present a huge fireworks display during the evening.  It would also be a great opportunity for race teams that are headed north to Wytheville, VA to start Ray Cook’s Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals on July 15 to get a race in on the way to begin this series.

The Southern All Star Racing Series event at Cleveland Speedway on Saturday July 13 will feature a complete program of practice, WhitePerformance.com A-B Group Time Trials, PPM Racing Products Last Chance Showdowns, and will conclude with the 40 lap, $4,000 to win Stars and Stripes 40 A-Main.  Joining the Southern All Star Racing Series in action at Cleveland Speedway on Saturday July 13 will be the track’s Steel Head/Limited Late Model, Crate Late Model, A-Hobby, B-Hobby, and Pony/FWD divisions.

The visit by the Southern All Star Racing Series to Cleveland Speedway on Saturday July 13 will be the tour’s third of five visits to the East Tennessee facility in 2013, with Randy Weaver of Crossville, TN winning the Shamrock 50 back on March 9 and Steve Casebolt of Richmond, IN scored his first-ever Southern All Star Racing Series victory in the Coca-Cola Tennessee Memorial contest back on May 18.  The July 13 Stars and Stripes 40 event will be the series 106th visit to the storied facility that has produced 37 different series winners, with Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, GA topping the winner’s list for drivers in Southern All Star Racing Series history at Cleveland Speedway with 17 victories. Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN has 7 series wins, while Clint Smith of Senoia, GA and Rex Richey of Ringgold, GA have six wins each, with Randy Weaver of Crossville, TN Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN, Duayne Hommel of Newport, TN, and Chris Madden of Grays Court, SC each with 5 series checkered flags at Cleveland Speedway.

Among those drivers expected from the Southern All Star Racing Series stable of cars include series points leader Riley Hickman of Chattanooga, TN, Mike Weeks of Friendsville, TN, Mark Rosner of Rockford, TN, Bret Holmes of Munford, AL, Billy Ogle, Jr. of Knoxville, TN, Mark Vineyard of Powell, TN, Shamrock winner Randy Weaver of Crossville, TN, Jason Hiett of Oxford, AL and Bo Shirley of Gadsden, AL, along with a strong array of talented local and regional racing stars such as Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, GA, Skip Arp of Georgetown, TN, Jake Knowles of Tyrone, GA, Brian Hendrix of Knoxville, TN, Jeff Franklin of Ten Mile, TN, Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC, Dylan Ames of Harvest, AL, William Thomas of Phenix City, AL, Derek Ellis of Chatsworth, GA, Michael Asberry of Crossville, TN, Dusty Carver of Englewood, TN, Jason Welshan of Maryville, TN, Kayne Hickman of Soddy Daisy, TN, Chris Wilson of Crossville, TN, Aaron Ridley of Chatsworth, GA,  plus many more are expected.  The tour has presented nine events so far in 2013 and has seen six different drivers visit victory with the series this season.

Activities for the Southern All Star Racing Series Stars and Stripes 40 event at Cleveland Speedway on Saturday July 13 will see the pit area open at 3:00 p.m. and general admission open at 4:00 p.m., with the drivers meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. and practice laps set to begin immediately after the drivers meeting, followed immediately by time trials and green flag racing.  All times listed are Eastern Daylight Time.  Ticket prices for the Stars and Stripes 40 at Cleveland Speedway in the general admission area will be $15 for adults, while a pit pass will be $30.

Southern All Star Racing Series Cleveland Speedway Stars and Stripes 40 A-Main Payout for Saturday July 13:  1st- $4,000, 2nd- $2,000, 3rd- $1,000, 4th- $750, 5th- $650, 6th- $550, 7th- $525, 8th- $500, 9th- $450, 10th- $425, 11th- $400, 12th- $350, 13th- $340, 14th- $330, 15th- $320, 16th- $310, 17th- $300, 18th- $300, 19th- $300, 20th- $300, 21st- $300, 22nd- $300, 23rd- $300, 24th- $300.

The entry fee for the Saturday July 13 event at Cleveland Speedway is $100 and can be made payable to the Southern All Star Racing Series.  The tire rule is exclusively Hoosier Tires and the only compounds eligible to be used are the Hoosier 1350, 1450, and 1600 compounds.

Cleveland Speedway is located at 2420 South Lee Highway in Cleveland, TN 37311 and is in its 54th season of dirt track racing entertainment. Directions to Cleveland Speedway are to take I-75 to the first Cleveland Exit (coming south from Knoxville, take the Third Cleveland Exit), go east (away from Fireworks Bldg.) about a mile (first exit ramp) to Hwy. 11. Turn left (back under the overpass) on Hwy. 11, and go two blocks (past the car lots & Mr. Zip,) the Speedway is on the left.
