FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mike Marlar Scores Third Career Southern All Star Win At Smoky Mt Speedway

MARYVILLE, TN--The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series made its first stop of the 2016 season along with the USCS Sprint cars at the Smoky Mt Speedway and in front of a huge crowd Mike Marlar of Winfield, TN., took the Southern All Stars portion of the program to collect his third career win with the series. Marlar jumped into the lead from T J Reaid and went on to take the $5,000 payday.
Marlar set fast time in White Performance qualifying group one, with T J Reaid fastest in group two to set up the front row.

At the drop of the green flag Marlar took the top spot over Reaid, while Skip Arp batted with Casey Roberts for the third spot, Arp finally got around Roberts for the third spot and then started to run down Reaid, while Riley Hickman moved under Chris Ferguson to take over the fifth spot.

The caution came out on lap six as Jeff Wolfenbarger spun in turn one and two.  Marlar then jumped ahead of the field while the second and third place battle between Reaid and Arp and fourth place between Roberts and Hickman were very intense as the four drivers raced each other hard and clean.

Arp finally got by Reaid and then set his sights on Marlar, but he could not run him down in the remaining laps and had to take home the second place finish in his best run with the series in years, third place went to Reaid, fourth place to Hickman and Tommy Kerr of Rockford, TN., made a strong run from his 10th starting position for a fifth place finish.

Finishing in the sixth spot was Chris Ferguson Holly, NC., seventh Dylan Ames of Harvest, AL., eighth to Derek Ellis of Chatsworth, GA., ninth Eric Wells of Hazard, KY., and tenth to Shannon Buckingham of Maryville, TN.,

The next event for the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series will be on Saturday night April 30th at the Talladega Short Track NASCAR Weekend 40 lap $4,000 to win
