Southern All Star Racing Series Rolls Into Talladega Short Track on May 4

Huntsville, AL- April 25, 2013- After a brief hiatus, the Southern All Star Racing Series is set for the first of four visits to the historic 1/3 mile semi-banked red clay oval better known as “The Hornet’s Nest”, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, on Saturday evening May 4 for an event that will pay $4,000 to the winner at the Lynn Phillips and Alfred Gurley promoted facility.

The Southern All Star Racing Series event at Talladega Short Track on Saturday May 4 will feature a complete program of practice, WhitePerformance.com A-B Group Time Trials, PPM Racing Products Last Chance Showdowns, and will conclude with the 40 lap, $4,000 to win Southern All Star Racing Series A-Main. Talladega Short Track will also present an unsanctioned event for Super Late Models on Friday May 3 that will pay $2,000 to win. These events coincide with the NASCAR Sprint Cup weekend event at Talladega SuperSpeedway that same weekend, located just across the boulevard from Talladega Short Track. All other local divisions will be action at Talladega Short Track that weekend as well.

Among those drivers expected from the Southern All Star Racing Series stable of cars include series points leader Riley Hickman of Chattanooga, TN, Jason Hiett of Oxford, AL, defending series Rookie of the Year Mike Weeks of Friendsville, TN, Mark Rosner of Rockford, TN, Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, GA, Bret Holmes of Munford, AL, 2013 Ice Bowl runner-up Billy Ogle, Jr. of Knoxville, TN, Hunter Peacock of Gray, GA, Mark Vineyard of Powell, TN, Randy Weaver of Crossville, TN, and Bo Shirley of Gadsden, AL, along with a strong array of local racing stars such as Tim Roszell, Terry Smith, Jason Wilson, 2013 Ice Bowl champion Ross Martin, Danny Peoples, Chris Thomas, Todd Watson, Dillon Crim, and Logan Yates, along with many other top regional driving talents.

Activities for the Southern All Star Racing Series event at Talladega Short Track will see gates open at 3:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will be at 5:45 p.m., with practice laps set to begin at 6:00 p.m., followed immediately by time trials and green flag racing. All times listed are Central Daylight Time. Ticket prices for the Southern All Star Racing Series at Talladega Short Track on Saturday May 4 in the general admission area is $20 for adults, children ages 9 and under are free, and a pit pass will be $30.
