Rockin’ with the Stars will open busy 2013 Schedule for Smoky Mountain on March 23rd

HUNTSVILLE, AL (March 14, 2013)—The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series will open a busy slate on the Smoky Mountain Speedway schedule during the running of the WIMZ 103.5 Rockin’ with the Stars 40 paying $5,000 to win for the SAS Late Models on Saturday evening March 23rd.

There will be a complete program of Practice, A & B Group Time Trials, PPM Racing Products Last Chance Showdowns and the 40-lap $5,000 to win / $300 to start main event. Also in action will be the Crate Late Models paying $1,000 to win while the Street Stocks will race for $300 to win.

During the series’ visits in 2012, Vic Hill of Mosheim, TN picked up two of the three series stops on April 14th and June 16th while Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, TN picked up the September 22nd event win.

Expected from the SAS stable of cars include defending series champion Randy Weaver of Crossville, TN; defending SRRS Champion Riley Hickman of Chattanooga, TN; second generation driver Bret Holmes of Munford, AL, Jason Hiett of Oxford, AL; Mark Rosner of Rockford, TN; defending series Rookie of the Year Mike Weeks of Friendsville, TN along with a strong contingent of local talent including 2011 series champion Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, TN; Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC; David Crabtree of Maryville, TN; Mark Vineyard of Powell, TN; Skip Arp of Georgetown, TN; Mark Douglas of Knoxville, TN; Robby Moses of Friendsville, TN; Jeff Neubert of Rockford, TN; Vic Hill of Mosheim, TN; Tommy Kerr of Maryville, TN along with other regional hot-shoes.

On Saturday March 23rd the Pit gates will swing open at 3:00 pm and Grandstand/Tier Parking gates opening at 4:00 pm with Driver’s Meeting slated for around 6:30 pm. Adult General Admission is $15.00 with Tier Parking $20.00 and Pit Passes being $35.00.

The March 23rd event opens a strong season of racing action for Smoky Mountain Speedway as the track will host other special events throughout the 2013 season including: Southern All Stars, Ray Cook’s Spring Nationals Series, Ray Cook’s Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series, American Modified Series, World of Outlaws Late Model Series, United Sprint Car Series, Southern Regional Racing Series and the Ultimate Late Models.
