“We are in a bit of a point’s hole to start the Hunt so I knew it was important to get off to a good start,” said Sanders. “The win definitely helped, but now we have to give it a 110% every night if we are going to have a chance at our third championship.”

Bergman Wins at Badlands Following First Feature Made at 360 Knoxville Nationals

Inside Line Promotions - BRANDON, S.D. (Aug. 9, 2016) - Seth Bergman returned to Victory Lane on Sunday at Badlands Motor Speedway following a successful performance during the 26th annual Arnold Motor Supply 360 Knoxville Nationals.

Bergman capped the busy weekend by taking advantage of a good draw at Badlands Motor Speedway, where he won his heat race from the pole position to make the feature redraw. He then garnered the pole position for the $5,000-to-win event.

"Everyone is so even in racing these days so track position is always important," he said. "We were fortunate in our draws and we capitalized."

Bergman led the distance of the main event to pick up his fifth triumph of the season and second at the high-banked track.

The strong result came on the heels of a solid performance during the 360 Knoxville Nationals at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa. The event began for Bergman with preliminary action last Friday when he qualified 18th quickest before placing fourth in a heat race to lock into the 11 th starting position in the main event.

Bergman battled for a top 10 throughout the feature before ending 11th. That ranked him 25th - out of nearly 100 competitors - in overall points and started him fifth in the B Main on Saturday.

Bergman advanced a pair of positions in the consolation race to garner a transfer into the main event, which he started 21st. It marked his first career A Main start at the 360 Knoxville Nationals.

"The first goal when you head to the 360 Knoxville Nationals is to make Saturday's A Main, but I think we have a car capable of winning the event," he said. "We're proud to achieve a new goal and we'll work hard to improve on that next year."

Bergman ended with a 17th-place finish.

Herrera Earns Hard Charger Award During 360 Knoxville Nationals Prelim

Inside Line Promotions - KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 9, 2016) - Johnny Herrera showcased a couple of bright moments last weekend during the 26th annual Arnold Motor Supply 360 Knoxville Nationals at Knoxville Raceway.

Herrera kicked off the marquee event on Friday by qualifying 29th quickest to open his preliminary action.

"I didn't qualify good, but we rebounded and raced really good," he said. "When we hot lapped we were seventh quick. For the most part everyone maintained their time and I slowed down two tenths."

Herrera scored a runner-up result in a heat race to lock into the 20-lap main event, which he started on the outside of the 10th row. He then charged from 20th to an eighth-place finish in the feature to earn the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.

"I kept adjusting on it," he said. "The freer I got the better the car got. I was pleased with the end result. I just got myself behind early in the night and at the Knoxville Nationals qualifying means so much."

After preliminary points were calculated Herrera started Saturday's finale on the inside of the fifth row in the B Main.

"I thought I'd make myself better on Saturday night and I made it worse," he said. "I made some changes to the race car. I got everything way left rear tight. I changed my shocks around and it made it to where the thing was way too tight."

Herrera picked up a position to finish eighth, which was three spots shy of transferring into the main event.

He will return to action at Knoxville Raceway this Wednesday through Saturday during the 56th annual 5-Hour ENERGY Knoxville Nationals.

"If I can make a couple of good laps in qualifying and put myself in position to hopefully get in the main the qualifying night through the heat race you never know how things will shake out," he said.

Herrera has qualified for the Knoxville Nationals A Main a dozen times with seven top 10s and a best result of fourth place in 2000.

Sides Looking to Make Seventh Career Knoxville Nationals Main Event

Inside Line Promotions - PEVELY, Mo. (Aug. 9, 2016) - The biggest event of the season is on tap for Jason Sides, who is slated to tackle the 56 th annual 5-Hour ENERGY Knoxville Nationals Wednesday through Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa.

Sides has driven into the A Main at the $150,000-to-win event six times in his career with a top result of 12th in 2010.

"We've got everything as fresh as possible," he said. "Hopefully we'll get a good pill draw and have a good qualifying effort and go from there. That sets your whole week."

Sides is coming off a challenging weekend with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series during the Ironman 55 at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55.

"It was kind of average," he said. "It started out all right. The first night was going to be good."

Sides kicked off the doubleheader by qualifying 12th quickest on Friday. He then finished fourth in a heat race to line up 12th in the main event.

"Two or three different guys spun in turns one and two," he said. "Brent Marks spun around and we had nowhere to go and got into him. That knocked the nose wing down and we had to restart at the back."

Sides rebounded from the crash to post a 14th-place result.

He returned to the high-banked track on Saturday and qualified 15th quickest before placing fifth in a heat race.

"I thought we had a shot at the top two in the heat race to get in the dash and the next thing I knew we were fifth," he said.

That lined Sides up 19th for the 55-lap feature.

"I got lapped and we had a caution just as the leaders passed the start-finish line," he said. "That kept us down a lap so every time we'd have a caution we had to go back to the back for the restart."

Sides rallied to record a 15th-place finish.

Big Game Motorsports and Lasoski Have One Goal in Mind During Knoxville Nationals

Inside Line Promotions - OSKALOOSA, Iowa (Aug. 9, 2016) - Big Game Motorsports driver Danny Lasoski is all about the Knoxville Nationals.

It's the event he focuses on year-round. He dreams about it. He talks about it. Most likely, if a restaurant had an item on its menu called 'The Knoxville Nationals' Lasoski would order it.

The preparation for the past year comes to fruition this week as Lasoski and the Muddy sponsored team tackle the $150,000-to-win 56th annual 5-Hour ENERGY Knoxville Nationals at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, this Wednesday through Saturday.

"I don't want to be overexcited or overconfident, but we 100 percent think we can win this race," he said. "I know luck and circumstances play into it. At the end of the day we have a great race team and the guys who work on it do a phenomenal job and I'm the lucky one who gets to drive it."

Lasoski has earned four Knoxville Nationals titles (1998, 2001, 2003 and 2004) and last year he advanced into his 25th career A Main at the sport's premier event. During those 25 starts he has 15 top fives and 18 top 10s.

The Muddy backed team is coming off a doubleheader last weekend, which began on Sunday at Knoxville Raceway during the Capitani Classic. Lasoski qualified ninth quickest in his group and won a heat race to start the main event on the outside of the fifth row.

He advanced into fifth place by the midpoint of the race before a car spun in front of him in turn one on Lap 17. Lasoski had nowhere to go and he crashed into the stalled car.

"It junked the race car," said Lasoski, who was unable to finish the race and was credited with an 18th-place finish. "That was our Nationals car and our Nationals engine. Those are out of play. In all honesty all our cars and engines run good."

The team used a spare car to compete in the 21st annual Price Chopper Front Row Challenge on Monday at Southern Iowa Speedway. Lasoski timed in sixth quickest during the National Sprint League event before he placed fourth in a heat race to make the King of the Hill race. He won the quarterfinal round to start the main event on the inside of the second row.

"We were running third and the driver made a mistake and got passed by two cars and then the track took rubber," he said.

Lasoski spent most of the race in third place before losing two spots on a restart. He ended fifth, which increased his lead in the NSL championship standings to 82 points.
