Bub McCool Tames the Greenville Gumbo for First Win of '14

Vicksburg, MS (06/10/14) – Bub McCool piloted his #57J McCool Logging/Schaeffer Oil/Victory Circle/Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model to his first win of 2014 on Saturday night with a $2,500 triumph at Greenville Speedway.

Bub McCool overcome his early season struggles on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway (Greenville, Mississippi), in a Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) event at the 1/4 mile oval.
A strong field of thirty-four Super Late Model competitors were on the grounds, and after qualifying fourth in his group Bub went on to finish seventh in the dash. As a result he would start seventh on the grid for the 50 lap finale.

During the course of the feature McCool progressively worked his way forward, reeling in early leader, Timothy Culp as he looked to make a bid for the top spot. Heavy traffic allowed Culp to pull away with fifteen to go, but it wasn't long before McCool was able to run him down again as Culp began to battle a rapidly deflating tire. On lap 40 a crossover move from Culp retained him the advantage before McCool was able to assume the point with eight laps remaining. Despite lap traffic and a slight brush with the wall in the closing laps, McCool held on for the checkered flag. He was followed across the finish line by Culp, Brian Rickman, Rick Rickman, and Dane Dacus.

Bub now turns his attention to the upcoming weekend's Clash at the Mag, which will see him going into battle against the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) in a $20,000-to-win event at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi). Kent Robinson Reaps Redeeming Win at Eldora; Brownstown Next

Bloomington, Indiana (06/10/14) – Eldora Speedway might be one of Kent Robinson's favorite tracks, but the famed oval hasn't always been kind to him. In fact in 2010, a hard wreck at the speed plant during the Johnny Appleseed Classic resulted in a season-ending, shoulder injury. On Thursday night he gained sweet redemption by claiming the most prestigious win of his career at the 1/2 mile by scoring the victory in his #7r JB's Salvage/Club 29/Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model.

Kent Robinson Racing opened the festivities for the 20th Annual Dirt Late Model Dream 100 on Thursday evening at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) with a $2,500-to-win event.

Kent qualified eighth overall among the 78 entries on hand, as the invert would result in him starting third in his heat race. Robinson charged to the win in heat race action, which positioned him starting on the pole for the 25 lap feature with Jonathan Davenport alongside. K-Rob launched to the lead on the opening lap and went virtually unchallenged throughout the entire race. Fourth starting Scott Bloomquist made his way into second and closed in on Robinson before the midway point, but Robinson began stretching his lead in lap traffic. Motoring through lap traffic to avoid any late race challenges from Bloomquist, K-Rob held a half-straightaway lead when the checkered flag waved. Bloomquist settled in second followed by Chris Simpson, Rick Eckert, and Duane Chamberlain rounding out the top five finishers.

“Any time you get on the stage at Eldora, it’s a big deal,” Robinson said. “It might not have paid the highest (purse) I’ve ever won, but it definitely means the most to me. Tonight's win is definitely dedicated to the memory of my Dad, JB. I just know he was here with us tonight.”

Friday night found the winner's purse increased to $5,000 as dual features were once again contested. Struggles in qualifying left Kent starting eighth in his heat race, where he charged from the back of the pack to a second place finish. As a result he earned the seventh starting spot on the grid for the 25 lap feature. During the course of the main event Robinson advanced to a fifth place finish behind race winner, Brian Birkhofer, Rick Eckert, Billy Moyer, and Shannon Babb.

On Saturday struggles in heat race action forced Robinson to use a provisional to earn a starting spot in the coveted $100,000-to-win Dirt Late Model Dream. Kent made some progress early on in the 100 lap affair at the famed 1/2 mile oval before ultimately retiring to a sixteenth place finish in the final rundown.

Robinson's next scheduled event is on Wednesday evening at Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Indiana), where the UMP Summernationals will lift the lid on the 2014 edition of the grueling tour with a $5,000-to-win affair. For more information on the event, please visit www.BrownstownSpeedway.com .

Rodney Sanders Wins Three of Four Weekend USMTS Events

Happy, Texas (06/10/14) – Rodney Sanders batted 75% over the weekend in United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) competition as he raced to victory in three of the four events he entered in his #20 Swan Energy/MB Customs/Geddes Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified.

The team was set to open a busy weekend with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) on Tuesday night at Marshalltown Speedway however, the event was washed away by rain.  As a result, action got underway on Wednesday night at Hancock County Speedway (Britt, Iowa).  Twenty-one competitors registered for battle, and via a second place finish in heat race action Sanders earned a spot in the evenings redraw. Rodney later drew the third starting position on the grid for the $2,000-to-win finale. When the feature went green, Stormy Scott took the race lead from the pole position with Johnny Scott, Zack VanderBeek, and Sanders all in tow.  Several lead changes occurred in the early laps as the top four battled closely for much of the race. Sanders would power past Johnny Scott for the top spot on lap 35, and then proceed to open up a two-second advantage over the final five laps to the finish line. Johnny Scott settled in second followed by Zack VanderBeek, Stormy Scott, and Kelly Shryock.

Thursday night found the team pitted at Fairmont Speedway (Fairmont, Minnesota) for another $2,000-to-win program with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) warriors.  Twenty-eight Open Wheel Modifieds were on hand for the event, and Sanders won his heat race from the fourth starting spot to move into the redraw for the feature, where he earned the pole position for the 30 lap finale with Pat Graham alongside.   When the race went green Sanders took the lead on the opening lap with Dereck Ramirez giving chase.  Sanders went on to claim the flag-to-flag victory in the 40 lapper over VanderBeek, Scott, Kelly Shryock, and Daniel Hilsabeck.

Friday night the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) Open Wheel Modifieds invaded Rapid Speedway (Rock Rapids, Iowa).  Twenty-six competitors registered for battle in the $2,000-to-win program, and via a second place finish in heat race action Sanders earned the sixth starting spot for the 40 lap finale.  Rodney progressively worked his way forward during the course of the feature before crossing the finish line in third behind race winner, Zack VanderBeek, and Stormy Scott. Joey Jensen and Jason Krohn rounded out the top five finishers.

The weekend drew to a close on Saturday night at I-90 Speedway (Hartford, South Dakota) for a $2,000-to-win USMTS event.  Twenty-three Open Wheel Modifieds were on hand, and Sanders won his heat race from the pole position to move onto the redraw for the feature, where he was the recipient of the third starting spot for the 40 lap affair. Rookie of the Year contender, Jeremy Houle led the first nine laps of the race before Johnny Scott took command on lap ten following a restart.  Sanders powered ahead of Scott on lap eighteen but Scott did not give up easily fighting back for the top spot.  After nearly making contact with Sanders, Scott spun and was forced to tag the rear of the field.  From that point Sanders blasted away from the field, and eventually took the checkered flag with nearly a seven-second lead over second-place finisher Jon Tesch. Jeremy Houle, Zack VanderBeek, and Joey Jensen completed the rest of the top five.  The victory marked Rodney's thirteenth of the year.

"What a great weekend it truly was for our team," commented Sanders.  "This hot rod is just running amazing right now.  Thanks go out to my team and sponsors for making this all possible."

Complete results from the weekend are available at www.USMTS.com .

The upcoming weekend will be another busy one for Swan Energy Racing.  On Friday and Saturday Rodney will compete at Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wisconsin) in the annual Masters event.  He will participate in both the USMTS Modified and UMP Summernationals Late Model portions of the shows.  The weekend will draw to a close on Sunday night at Eagle Valley Speedway (Jim Falls, Wisconsin) with the USMTS tour.  For more information on the events please visit www.TheHellTour.com and www.USMTS.com .
