For Immediate Release Bub McCool Tames the Greenville Gumbo for First Win of '14 Vicksburg, MS (06/10/14) – Bub McCool piloted his #57J McCool Logging/Schaeffer Oil/Victory Circle/Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model to his first win of 2014 on Saturday night with a $2,500 triumph at Greenville Speedway. Bub McCool overcome his early season struggles on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway (Greenville, Mississippi), in a Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) event at the 1/4 mile oval. During the course of the feature McCool progressively worked his way forward, reeling in early leader, Timothy Culp as he looked to make a bid for the top spot. Heavy traffic allowed Culp to pull away with fifteen to go, but it wasn't long before McCool was able to run him down again as Culp began to battle a rapidly deflating tire. On lap 40 a crossover move from Culp retained him the advantage before McCool was able to assume the point with eight laps remaining. Despite lap traffic and a slight brush with the wall in the closing laps, McCool held on for the checkered flag. He was followed across the finish line by Culp, Brian Rickman, Rick Rickman, and Dane Dacus. Full results from the event are available at www.StateSeries.com . Bub now turns his attention to the upcoming weekend's Clash at the Mag, which will see him going into battle against the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) in a $20,000-to-win event at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi). For more information on the event, please visit www.LucasDirt.com and www.MagnoliaDirt.com . FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Kent Robinson Reaps Redeeming Win at Eldora; Brownstown Next Bloomington, Indiana (06/10/14) – Eldora Speedway might be one of Kent Robinson's favorite tracks, but the famed oval hasn't always been kind to him. In fact in 2010, a hard wreck at the speed plant during the Johnny Appleseed Classic resulted in a season-ending, shoulder injury. On Thursday night he gained sweet redemption by claiming the most prestigious win of his career at the 1/2 mile by scoring the victory in his #7r JB's Salvage/Club 29/Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model. Kent Robinson Racing opened the festivities for the 20th Annual Dirt Late Model Dream 100 on Thursday evening at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) with a $2,500-to-win event. Kent qualified eighth overall among the 78 entries on hand, as the invert would result in him starting third in his heat race. Robinson charged to the win in heat race action, which positioned him starting on the pole for the 25 lap feature with Jonathan Davenport alongside. K-Rob launched to the lead on the opening lap and went virtually unchallenged throughout the entire race. Fourth starting Scott Bloomquist made his way into second and closed in on Robinson before the midway point, but Robinson began stretching his lead in lap traffic. Motoring through lap traffic to avoid any late race challenges from Bloomquist, K-Rob held a half-straightaway lead when the checkered flag waved. Bloomquist settled in second followed by Chris Simpson, Rick Eckert, and Duane Chamberlain rounding out the top five finishers. “Any time you get on the stage at Eldora, it’s a big deal,” Robinson said. “It might not have paid the highest (purse) I’ve ever won, but it definitely means the most to me. Tonight's win is definitely dedicated to the memory of my Dad, JB. I just know he was here with us tonight.” Friday night found the winner's purse increased to $5,000 as dual features were once again contested. Struggles in qualifying left Kent starting eighth in his heat race, where he charged from the back of the pack to a second place finish. As a result he earned the seventh starting spot on the grid for the 25 lap feature. During the course of the main event Robinson advanced to a fifth place finish behind race winner, Brian Birkhofer, Rick Eckert, Billy Moyer, and Shannon Babb. On Saturday struggles in heat race action forced Robinson to use a provisional to earn a starting spot in the coveted $100,000-to-win Dirt Late Model Dream. Kent made some progress early on in the 100 lap affair at the famed 1/2 mile oval before ultimately retiring to a sixteenth place finish in the final rundown. Complete results from the weekend are available at www.EldoraSpeedway.com . Robinson's next scheduled event is on Wednesday evening at Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Indiana), where the UMP Summernationals will lift the lid on the 2014 edition of the grueling tour with a $5,000-to-win affair. For more information on the event, please visit www.BrownstownSpeedway.com . Kent Robinson Racing would to like to thank all of their sponsors including JB's Salvage, Jay Dickens Racing Engines, Jones Oil Company, Club 29 Race Cars, Keyser Manufacturing, Printworx Graphics, VP Race Fuels, Hoosier Racing Tire, GW Performance, All Star Performance, Schaeffer's, K&N Filters, AFCO, Bell Helmets, Simpson Race Products, Wiles Drive Shafts, Beyea Custom Headers, and MSRMafia.com Marketing Services. For Immediate Release Friday night the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) Open Wheel Modifieds invaded Rapid Speedway (Rock Rapids, Iowa). Twenty-six competitors registered for battle in the $2,000-to-win program, and via a second place finish in heat race action Sanders earned the sixth starting spot for the 40 lap finale. Rodney progressively worked his way forward during the course of the feature before crossing the finish line in third behind race winner, Zack VanderBeek, and Stormy Scott. Joey Jensen and Jason Krohn rounded out the top five finishers. |
