For Immediate Release Rodney Sanders Tames Texas Foes at the Dirt Track Happy, Texas (03/04/13) - Rodney Sanders continued his red-hot start to the 2013 season over the weekend by powering his #20 Swan Energy/Kimrad Transport/MB Customs/Geddes Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified to the $3,000 win in the Port-A-Cool Texas Dirt Track World Championship at the Dirt Track at Texas Motor Speedway (Justin, Texas). Over 70 competitors filled the pit area for the event, and on Friday night after drawing the ninth starting spot for his heat Rodney blasted to the heat race win, and then finished second in the A-main qualifier to Ryan Gustin to lock into Saturday night's pole dash for the finale. In the pole dash he bolted to the win, which locked him into the pole position for the feature event. At the drop of the green flag in the 40 lap finale Sanders bolted to the lead and maintained it until lap 33, when he and Ryan Gustin began waging war for the top spot. The duo swapped the lead a handful of times over the next two laps before Sanders regained permanent control to claim the win over Gustin, Chris Brown, Bobby Malchus, and Chris Henigan. The victory was his seventh of the 2013 season! "Our car was awesome all weekend, and it's hard to believe we already have seven victories this season," an elated Sanders commented. "We were kind of slide jobbing each other and it was a fun kind of racing,” Sanders said. “We race with (Gustin) a lot and he’s a good racer. Always tough to beat, and I’m glad to finally win one here at Texas Motor Speedway." Full results are available at www.TexasMotorSpeedway.com. Sanders now turns his focus to the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) as he travels to Humboldt Speedway (Humboldt, Kansas) this weekend, March 8th-9th, for a pair of $2,000-to-win events. The weekend started on Friday night with a $1,200-to-win event, which drew a field of nineteen Super Late Models. A third place finish in his heat race locked him into the redraw for the feature, where he was the recipient of the second starting spot. Early in the feature he contended for the lead before slipping to a fourth place finish behind race winner, Don Shaw, Tony Toste, and Nick Bartels. Saturday night found twenty-three Super Late Models register for battle in the $2,000-to-win WCS event. A second place finish in his heat race sent him to the redraw for the feature, where Garrett received the third starting spot on the grid. In the main event he quickly worked his way to the lead and never looked back on his way to his first career win with the series. He was followed across the finish line by Clay Daly, Anthony Madrid, Nick Bartels, and Tony Toste. "I have to thank my family, my great car owners (the Deetz family), and all of my great sponsors for making this possible," noted an elated Alberson. "It's been a tough start to the year, but everybody has stood behind me. Hopefully this is the first of many wins for the season."
