For Immediate Release On February 10th he was in action with the UMP Open Wheel Modifieds at North Florida Speedway (Lake City, Florida), where he finished second to feature winner, Kenny Wallace. The final destination for the team was Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Florida) for the 42nd Annual UNOH DIRTCar Nationals, where a field of more than 80 of the nation’s best UMP Open Wheel Modifieds registered for battle. Sanders won the first night out of the box on February 12th before watching Mother Nature claim the next two rounds. In his preliminary event for the Gator Championship on February 16th Sanders finished fifth to lock into the redraw for the $5,000-to-win finale on February 18th, where he would be the recipient of the third position. He and the Swan Energy team had high hopes for the feature, but mechanical issues in the opening laps sidelined him to a disappointing 28th place finish. Full results from the event are available at www.DIRTCarNationals.com . “Even though the weather didn’t cooperate and kept us from racing a few nights, our Florida trip was a great one,” commented Sanders. “It gave us a chance to learn the handle of our car on different tires than we normally run. To already have five wins on the year in the new MB Customs Chassis is a major shot in the arm for our team. We can’t wait for the next event!” |
