Dillon Wood Launches New Website; Prepares for WoO Action

Daytona Beach, Florida (03/07/13) – Dillon Wood from Daytona Beach, Florida is the newest addition to the MSR Mafia Team and has launched a brand new website at www.DillonWood1w.com .

Wood, who is 21-years-old, is currently in his seventh year of competition in his #1w Keyser Manufacturing/Gotta Race/Rocket/Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model. The team currently has their sights set on contending for the 2013 World of Outlaws (WoO) Super Late Model Rookie of the Year title.

While the first five events of the WoO tour in Georgia and Florida went well for the young driver, he would hit a road block in the final three events at his home track, Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Florida) as he failed to qualify for all three features.

"Those last three nights at Volusia were probably three of the worst races of my life," Wood comments.  "I'm usually really good there, but for various reasons we just had a tough time.  I'm ready to jump back on the Outlaws tour for the next three events.  I've never been to any of those tracks, but I'm excited about the opportunity."

Dillon Wood Motorsports resumes their 2013 campaign on March 22nd-24th with a trio of $10,000-to-win, World of Outlaws (WoO) Super Late Model events in the south.  The action begins on Friday, March 22nd at I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas) before moving onto Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi) on Saturday night and concluding at Duck River Speedway (Wheel, Tennessee) on Sunday evening.  For more information on the events please visit www.WoOLMS.com .

Chris Brown Finishes Third in Texas Dirt Track World Championship

Spring, Texas (03/07/13) – Chris piloted his #21 Lone Star Hydro & Maintenance/Hughes/Roush Yates Racing Engine Open Wheel to a third place on Saturday night in the Port-A-Cool Texas World Dirt Track Championship at the Dirt Track at Texas Motor Speedway (Justin, Texas).

It was a doubleheader of action over the weekend for the Chris Brown as he participated in both the P&W Sales SUPR Super Late Model and Open Wheel Modified portions of the annual event.

The weekend began on Friday night in the Open Wheel Modified division as a talented field of more than seventy competitors were on hand for the program.  After drawing the ninth starting spot for the fifth heat race Brown rocketed to the heat race win, which locked him into the A-main qualifier in the third starting spot. After battling at the front of the pack for the duration of the preliminary feature Chris finished third behind race winner, Ryan Gustin, and Rodney Sanders to lock into the pole scramble for Saturday night's 40 lap, $3,000-to-win finale.  A sixth place finish in the pole scramble resulted in Brown starting sixth in the finale.  During the course of the main event he advanced to a third place finish behind race winner, Rodney Sanders, and Ryan Gustin.

In the P&W Sales Southern United Professional Racers (SUPR) event on Saturday night, thirty-nine Super Late Models registered for battle, and Chris drew the sixth starting spot for the first heat race in his #21 Bloomquist/Roush Yates Racing Engine Super Late Model.  A sixth to third run in his heat race positioned Brown starting eleventh on the feature grid for the $3,500-to-win finale.  Unfortunately an array of mechanical issues would plague Chris in the feature as he was relegated to a seventeenth place finish in the final rundown.

Full results for both divisions from the event are available at www.TexasMotorSpeedway.com.
The team will not race anywhere this weekend as they look ahead to a triple header with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) in their backyard over the course of the March 14th-16th weekend.  The weekend will be highlighted by events at RPM Speedway (Crandall, Texas), Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana), and Boothill Speedway (Greenwood, Texas).  For more information, please visit www.USMTS.com .

Chris Brown would like to thank all of his sponsors including Delta Flange & Manufacturing, Lone Star Hydro & Maintenance, Shryock Racing Components, Motul, Hoosier Racing Tires, VP Racing Fuels, Team Zero by Bloomquist, Eibach Springs, JRI Shocks, Smiley's Racing Products, Quarter Master, Bell, Simpson Race Products, Mason Racin' Inc., Ralo's Lube & Auto, Tiger Rear Ends, Roush Yates Racing Engines, and MSRMafia.com Marketing Services.

SALDANA DRIVES MOTTER 71 M TO TOP TEN FINISH IN LAS VEGAS

LAS VEGAS (Feb. 6, 2013) –The World of Outlaws STP Sprint Cars hit the dirt oval in the magnificent Las Vegas Motor Speedway complex on a cold night in the desert, with wind gusts up to 35 miles per hour.

Dan Motter, owner of the 71M team, was enthusiastic about some changes their team had made following the season-opening events in Volusia two weeks ago.

“We were able to make some adjustments that we think will improve our performance immediately,” said Motter.

And Dan Motter’s prediction was correct.

Saldana was the number three qualifier for the Outlaws in Vegas, turning his best lap in 14.880 seconds, earning three qualifying points for the Motter Equipment Fatheadz Eyewear team.

“The wind plays with the car off two of the turns,” said Saldana, “and you have to be on your toes to keep it pointed where you want it to go.  The wind tends to dry out the track and it will continue to change throughout the night.”

Saldana started on the outside of the second row in the third heat and worked the track high and low, trying to find the best racing groove, collecting a fifth place finish to transfer to a spot in the dash and the feature.

In the six-lap dash, Saldana started seventh and finished seventh.

In the feature, once again Saldana started seventh.   The gutsy driver continued to drive the track trying to find the fastest groove while in a fierce battle with Tim Kaeding for sixth place.  On lap 13 Rick Abreu made contact with Saldana.  While Abreu bobbled on the backstretch heading into turn three, Saldana was able to keep the yellow 71M under control and continued to fight for position with the front runners.  After the first 12 laps, the race was marred by several yellows with two to three-lap sprints between cautions.  At times racing three wide, Saldana continued to fight for position and at the checkered flag, brought the Motter Motorsports car home in the seventh position, capturing his first top ten finish of the season.

“The performance tonight was leaps and bounds better than Florida,” said the driver known as the Brownsburg Bullet.  “We qualified well and salvaged a seventh place finish. I am so focused on making sure I convey everything I’m feeling the car do to our crew chief Davey Whitworth.  He’s seeing what I’m feeling, so that’s good. I know we will continue to get better.”

Donny Schatz won the feature.  Of note was Kerry Madsen’s march through the field. Madsen started last in the feature and worked his way to a fifth place finish.
