Chris Brown Back in USMTS Victory Lane

Spring, Texas (07/01/14) – For the first time in several weeks Chris Brown was behind the wheel of his #21 Brown Motorsports/LG21 Open Wheel Modified as he took part in a busy weekend with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS), and he made the most of the opportunity with his third win of 2014.

After seeing the first two scheduled events of the weekend washed away by Mother Nature, action finally kicked off on Thursday evening at Grayson County Speedway (Bells, Texas). A strong field of 40 entries registered for the $2,000-to-win program at the 1/4 mile dirt oval. A second place finish in his heat race earned Chris a spot in the evening's redraw where he received the fifth starting position on the grid for the 40 lap finale. When the race went green Brown quickly found his way to the front and drove underneath Kelly Shryock for the top spot on the fifth lap and never looked back. Brown showed the way out front, holding off Stormy Scott and Rodney Sanders through a pair of caution flags to claim his third victory of the season. Chris was followed across the finish line by Scott and Sanders, while Clyde Dunn Jr., and Kelly Shryock rounded out the top five.

Chris resumed action with the USMTS Open Wheel Modifieds on Friday evening as he traveled to Superbowl Speedway (Greenville, Speedway). A stellar field of forty-four Open Wheel Modifieds took to the oval, and Brown began his night by finishing fourth in his heat race, which left him just short of locking into the feature. As a result he would have to run a b-main, where a fourth place finish would earn him the 20th starting spot on the grid for the 40 lap finale. In the main event Chris advanced twelve positions to an eighth place finish.

Saturday evening found the team competing in a $2,000-to-win program at Southern Oklahoma Speedway (Ardmore, Oklahoma). With forty-two entries in the pit area Chris finished second in his heat race from the fifth position to earn a spot in the redraw, where he was the recipient of the fourth starting spot. In the 40 lap main event Brown settled to a tenth place finish in the final rundown.

"Between building cars for customers and my family business I haven't had much time to race here lately, but we definitely made the most of the opportunity this weekend," said Brown. "I have to thank my crew, sponsors, and family for their support."

Full results from the weekend are available at www.USMTS.com .

The upcoming holiday weekend will tentatively see Chris returning to the driver's seat of his #21 Club 29 Super Late Model for the Freedom Classic at Salina Highbanks Speedway (Salina, Oklahoma), which will be sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA). Friday's program posts a $3,000 top prize will Saturday will reward the winner of the event with a $5,000 check. For more information on the event, please visit www.MLRARacing.com .

Tony Jackson Jr. set out to enter a pair of Lucas Oil MLRA events over the weekend, but Mother Nature would intervene as both programs were nixed by rain.

As a result the team motored their way back east in time to catch a UMP Weekly Racing Series event at Tri-City Speedway (Pontoon Beach, Illinois).  Twenty Super Late Models entered the event, and a fifth to second run in heat race action earned Tony a spot in the evening's dash.  Jackson Jr. went on to finish second in the dash after starting fifth, locking him into the second starting spot for the finale. In the main event Tony raced to his second victory of the season, which came over Tim Manville, Billy Laycock, Mark Voigt, and Scott Weber. "The rain definitely made for a bad start to the weekend, but we were able to make the most of the situation and got a win at Tri City," commented Jackson Jr.  "We still have a lot to learn about this new car, but so far we are making a lot of strides, and I really like it."

The current Mid America Racing Series (MARS) point leader will go into battle in a trio of events with the series this weekend.  On Thursday night a $3,000-to-win event will be held at Monett Speedway (Monett, Missouri) before action shifts to Salina Highbanks Speedway (Salina, Oklahoma) on Friday and Saturday with a $3,000-to-win and $5,000-to-win affair, which will also be sanctioned by the Lucas Oil MLRA.  For more information on the events please visit www.MARSRacingSeries.com .

Rodney Sanders Adds Two More to 2014 Win Tally

Happy, Texas (07/01/14) – Rodney Sanders parked his #20 Swan Energy/MB Customs/Geddes Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified in victory lane twice over the weekend as his win total increased to sixteen on the season.

A six race weekend with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) began in gloomy fashion as the first two rounds fell victim to rain on Tuesday and Wednesday. A third place finish on Thursday night at Grayson County Speedway (Bells, Texas) was followed by a mechanical failure on Friday night at Superbowl Speedway (Greenville, Texas).

The team didn't let Friday night's bad luck get them down as they kicked things into high gear for the final two rounds. Saturday night took the team to Southern Oklahoma Speedway (Ardmore, Oklahoma) for a $2,000-to-win program, where a stout field of forty-two Open Wheel Modifieds entered the event. Rodney won his heat race, which sent him to the redraw for the 40 lap feature. In the redraw he received the seventh starting spot. Polesitter Adam Pen led the first three laps before Daniel Hilsabeck snuck underneath to lead lap four. Sanders soon made it a three wide battle for the top spot as the trio exited turn two, and then powered away down the backstretch. Rodney dominated the remainder of the affair, lapping more than half the field en route to his tenth USMTS victory of the season. Over eight seconds behind, Daniel Hilsabeck finished second followed by Adam Penn, Bryan Rowland, and Chris Henigan.

Sunday night found Sanders once again parking his #20 Swan Energy Open Wheel Modified in victory lane at Outlaw Motorsports Park (Muskogee, Oklahoma). A field of thirty-two entries assembled at the 3/8 mile oval for the $2,000-to-win program. A second place finish in heat race action earned Sanders a spot in the redraw, where he was the recipient of the second starting position alongside Jay Sale for the 30 lap feature. From outside the front row, Sanders bolted to the race lead with Stormy Scott in tow. Sanders overcame challenges from stormy Scott, Jeremy Payne, and Johnny Scott throughout the event to score his second win in three nights with the USMTS tour. Johnny Scott settled in second followed by Jeremy Payne third, while Bryan Rowland, and Thomas Tillison Jr. rounded out the top five finishers.

"The weekend didn't start out so hot, but it definitely improved at the end," commented Sanders. "Our team is really performing well right now, and with some big money events on the horizon our hopes are high."

Complete results from the weekend are available at www.USMTS.com .

The upcoming holiday weekend will see Rodney Sanders busy once again. Action opens on Thursday night with the 6th Annual River City Rumble, which posts as much as $3,500-to-win for USRA Modifieds. From there action shifts to Viking Speedway (Alexandria, Minnesota) for the $10,001-to-win, 10th Annual Minnesota Modified Nationals, which will be held July 4th-6th. MOTTER TEAM AND SALDANA LOOKING TO RETURN TO WINNING FORM

BRANDON, S.D. (June 30, 2014) – The World of Outlaws schedule heats up in July with a 4th of July week of racing that includes a Wednesday show ((July 2) at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, S.D., and ends with the Boothill Showdown doubleheader July 4th and 5th.

Joey Saldana, driver of the Motter Equipment HE&M Saw Beltline Body Shop 71M Sprint Car, has yet to win an Outlaws event at Huset’s, but he would like to add this track to the list of those where he has posted victories.  With five race wins on his resume this year, he also leads the field in No. 1 qualifying efforts, having racked up 15 quick times.

Last year’s event played to a sold out crowd, the biggest crowd ever assembled at Huset’s in its 59-year history.

The Outlaws season hits the half-way mark at Dodge City Raceway Park and Saldana has set a goal to get 11 more race wins to hit an official 100 Outlaws career victories.  Besides the ‘normal’ over-the-top adrenaline that flows through the second generation driver’s veins, he has added determination to make that drive to victory lane.

Like gunfighters of old, the Outlaws engage in passionate fights on dirt. Saldana is the five time and all-time winner at the Boothill Showdown.  He won the 2009 doubleheader at Dodge City and also scored victories in 2006, 2008 and 2010.  Obviously Saldana is a big fan of this track and says it fits his driving style.  The record book backs that up.

The team is looking for a big rebound this week after struggling with various issues the past four events.

“The team drove back to our Minnesota shop right after Cedar Lake and we are addressing some of the issues that have plagued us,” said Dan Motter, team owner.

“We believe we will be back in podium form.”
