Bub McCool Wins Second Straight; WoO Triple Shot Next

Vicksburg, MS (03/19/13) – On Saturday night for the second straight event Bub McCool raced his #57J McCool Logging/Southern Belle/Schaeffer Oil/Victory Circle M1 Chassis By Moyer/Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model to a special event win.

Bub McCool carried his recent momentum into battle on Saturday night as he entered the season opener for the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) Super Late Model tour at Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi). While McCool's main intent for the $2,500-to-win event was to get track time for the upcoming World of Outlaws event at the 1/3 mile oval, he would accomplish another goal by claiming the feature win!

Thirty Super Late Models filled the pit area for the event, and after setting fast time in his group and overall he locked into the pole sitter's dash. A win in the dash earned him the pole for the 50 lap feature with Ronny Lee Hollingsworth joining him on the front row. As the race went green Hollingsworth jumped to the lead with McCool in tow. A few laps later McCool bolted into the top spot and never looked back on his way to his second win of the 2013 campaign. He was followed across the line by Chris Wall, BJ Robinson, Chad Thrash, and Brian Rickman. Full results from the event are available at www.StateSeries.com .

This weekend Bub will take on a tripleheader with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Super Late Model tour in the South as he enters a trio of $10,000-to-win events. The action begins on Friday night at I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas) before moving to Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi) on Saturday, and then concluding at Duck River Speedway (Wheel, Tennessee) on Sunday evening. Rodney Sanders Wins $4k at RPM Speedway for Eighth Win of 2013

Happy, Texas (03/19/13) - Rodney Sanders added to his win tally over the weekend in his #20 Swan Energy/Kimrad Transport/MB Customs/Geddes Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified by scoring a $4,000 triumph at RPM Speedway (Crandall, Texas) on Friday night, and he backed it up with a pair of runner-up finishes.

Rodney Sanders and the Swan Energy Racing Team took part in an ultra-busy weekend of racing action with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) as a trio of events were contested in Texas and Louisiana.

The action opened on a beautiful Friday night at RPM Speedway (Crandall, Texas) as 51 entries filled the pit area for the $4,000-to-win event. Sanders started his night by claiming the win in the second heat race from the pole position to lock into the redraw for the 40 lap feature. In the redraw he was the recipient of the pole position for the feature with Stormy Scott joining him on the front row. As the race went green Sanders bolted to the lead, and while he led every lap of the feature the win would be far from easy as a host of talented drivers took shots at the leader. Sanders fended off all advances, and when the checkered flag dropped he had claimed his eighth win of the 2013 campaign with Jason Hughes, Tyler Townsend, Kevin Sustaire, and Ryan Gustin rounding out the top five.

Sanders carried his momentum to the 1/4 mile confines of Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana) on Saturday night for a $2,000 to win, USMTS program. Once again fifty-one entries filed into the pit area, and a win in the fourth heat transferred Sanders to the redraw, where he received the second starting spot alongside the pole-sitter, Kelly Shryock, for the 50 lap feature. Sanders jumped to the lead at the drop of the green flag and appeared to be on his way to another win until Chris Henigan took over command at the front of the pack on lap 27. Henigan would go on to lead the remainder of the feature as Sanders was forced to settle for a second place finish. Ryan Gustin, Stormy Scott, and Kelly Shryock rounded out the top five at the checkered flag.

The weekend drew to a close on Sunday evening with another $2,000-to-win event, which was held at Boothill Speedway (Greenwood, Louisiana). Forty entries were on hand to try and claim the top prize, and it proved to be another night with another heat race win and another front row starting spot as he drew the second starting spot alongside pole sitter, Stormy Scott. Scott won the drag race to turn one on the first lap as Sanders settled into the second spot. It wouldn't be long before Sanders received strong advances from Bobby Malchus for the runner-up spot, but ultimately Sanders raced back to second, and that's where he finished behind race winner, Stormy Scott. Jason Hughes, Jason Ingalls, and Zack VanderBeek rounded out the top five in the final standings.

Full results from all three events are available at www.USMTS.com .

The team had planned to enter the $15,000-to-win, King of America III this weekend at Humboldt Speedway (Humboldt, Kansas), but a poor forecast has forced the postponement of the event. As a result, Rodney will not be racing anywhere. Stay tuned to www.RodneySandersRacing.net for the latest schedule and team news.

David Breazeale and Henderson Motorsports Back in Victory Lane with MSCCS

Laurel, Mississippi (03/19/13) – Henderson Motorsports competed in a pair of events with the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) Super Late Models over the weekend in their home state, and by the time the final checkered flag had dropped David Breazeale had claimed his first win with the tour in almost two years.

On Saturday night the MSCCS opened their 2013 campaign at Rodney Wing's Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi) with a $2,500-to-win event. With 30 Super Late Models in the pit area David Breazeale qualified second fastest in his group in his #54 Mastersbilt/Cornett Racing Engine Super Late Model to earn the fourth starting spot in the pole-sitter's dash. In the dash he raced to a third place finish, which locked him into the third starting spot for the 50 lap feature. He battled in the top five for much of the event before crossing the finish line in sixth behind race winner, Bub McCool, Chris Wall, BJ Robinson, Chad Thrash, and Rick Rickman.

Leon Henderson fell just short of qualifying for the feature via preliminary action in his #10 Victory Circle by Moyer/Cornett Racing Engine Super Late Model and utilized a series' provisional to start the main event in the twenty-first position. Despite starting deep in the field he advanced nine spots on his way to a twelfth place finish at the checkered flag.

Sunday night found Breazeale in action at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) in a $2,000-to-win, MSCCS event at the state-of-the-art, 3/8 mile oval. Twenty-six competitors registered for battle, and for the second straight night David locked into the pole-sitter's dash. He advanced from the fifth starting spot to a second place finish in the dash, which gave him the second starting spot for the 40 lap feature alongside pole sitter, Neil Baggett.

As the feature went green Breazeale bolted to the lead and held the top spot early in the race before Chris Wall took over command. David kept the leader in check in his #54 Mastersbilt and with just a few laps remaining he retook the top spot on his way to his first win of 2013 and his first MSCCS win in almost two years! Dane Dacus, Scott Dedwylder, Chris Wall, and Neil Baggett rounded out the top five.

"It's just great to not only win for Henderson Motorsports, but to be racing again with them period," notes Breazeale. "They are great people and great friends, and it's a lot of fun to race for this team. I have to thank them along with all of my sponsors and fans."

SALDANA AND 71M TEAM SECOND IN WORLD OF OUTLAWS POINT STANDINGS
AS DIRT RACING MAKES IT DEBUT ON NEW STOCKTON 99 TRACK
BEFORE HEADING TO HISTORIC CHICO

STOCKTON, Calif. (March 18, 2013) – Continuing its swing through the West, the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series makes two stops this week in Northern California.

On Friday night, March 22, the Outlaws will uncork their brand of sliding and hard charging ‘elbows up, hammer down’ electrifying driving on the new 3/8-mile Stockton 99 Dirt Track.  The highly-anticipated show promises to play to a full house as reserved and box seats have been sold out.

Joey Saldana and the Motter Equipment Fatheadz Eyewear 71M team will enter this event second in World of Outlaws point standings.  With a heat race and dash win and a second place feature finish on their performance sheet so far this season, the team is actively pursuing their first A-feature win.  Owned by Dan Motter who has returned as a car owner after a 15-year hiatus, the 71M team has made its mark as a serious contender for the championship.  For a team that didn’t have a tool, an engine, a race chassis or transporter 45 days before the season began, Saldana and his veteran teammates have put in endless hours of work and are excited about having all the ingredients to mix it up with the other challengers.

“There has been a lot of buzz about this new track,” said Saldana.  “There is a lot of excitement among the drivers and the fans.  This is a first class facility, and we can’t wait to get on the track and put on a good show.  We want to meet the fans’ expectations and enthusiasm for our series.

“It will be an advantage to have a seasoned crew chief in a situation like this because we will all be on equal footing as far as a blank sheet of paper and no previous data.

“We have a lot of confidence in our crew chief Davey Whitworth, but drivers and teams will be under a lot of pressure.  You’ll only have a few hot laps to get a feel for the dirt surface before qualifying.  Communication between the driver and crew chief will be
key as well.”

After the conclusion of the inaugural Stockton event, the World of Outlaws teams will pack up and head about 140 miles north to Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico for a Saturday (March 23) show.  Silver Dollar has a long history of sprint car racing dating back to 1979.

Saldana has conquered the competition on the high-banked Silver Dollar quarter mile three times, and two of those were Gold Cup Race of Champions victories (2007, 2009).  Saturday night’s event is the Mini Gold Cup and Saldana says information gathered during this event will be very valuable when the team returns in September for the Gold Cup.

Saldana has 83 World of Outlaws victories to his credit and is seventh on the all-time win list.  Davey Whitworth has notched many victories and is highly regarded as a crew chief.

“Because we’re a new team and a new driver-crew chief combination with a new Eagle chassis and new parts and pieces, we have to build a data base of information for the tuning set-up on different tracks under different conditions,” explained Saldana.  “Davey has to get used to the way I am comfortable driving the 71M and tune accordingly. Fortunately he is a quick study.  We are running up front and I think we’ll just continue to get better and better.

“We’re anxious for that first victory.”
