SALDANA AND MOTTER TEAM LOOKING TO KICK START OUTLAWS
SPRING BREAK WITH STRONG SHOWINGS IN LAS VEGAS AND TUCSON

LAS VEGAS (Feb. 28, 2014) – Joey Saldana will soon be leaving the unseasonably cold and snowy Indiana climate for the World of Outlaws version of Spring Break, a six-week tour in the West, beginning with a double header March 5-6 at the FVP Outlaw Showdown at the Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The Outlaws launch the biggest weekend of racing in Las Vegas, opening the NASCAR Weekend.

Saldana won in Las Vegas in 2011 and last year in the Motter Motorsports’ freshman season, he drove to a top ten finish the first night and a third place podium finish on Thursday night.

The driver of the Motter Equipment HE&M Saw Beltline Body Shop Sprint Car says The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is deceiving and drivers have to be on their game.

“This is a big fast half-mile, but it races pretty technical,” explained the Brownsburg Bullet, “and in two nights you will undoubtedly have two totally different racing surfaces.

“We have started off this season in very competitive fashion and we hope to continue.”

The Motter team kicked off 2014 with a wire-to-wire victory in the All-Star Circuit of Champions event at Volusia Speedway Park in Florida Feb. 13.

Following Thursday night’s show in Las Vegas, the Motter team will head for Tucson, Ariz. for Saturday’s (March 8) NAPA Auto Parts Wildcat Shootout.  Last year was the first time the World of Outlaws competed at Tucson International Raceway since 2007.  Saldana put in a strong showing finishing second while engaged in a heated battle with eventual winner Daryn Pittman.

“We are definitely looking forward to the week of racing in Vegas and Tucson,” said Saldana.  “We are beginning to get back into a frequent event schedule.  I really enjoy driving the Motter Equipment HE&M Saw Beltline Body Shop Sprint Car and I am excited to get back to these venues where we’ve had a strong performance.

“We have a seasoned team and we have a combination that we’re comfortable with and that has been fast and quick so far this season. We have a lot of momentum.  We would like to give Dan (team owner Motter) the championship trophy at the end of the season.”

In addition to Motter Motorsports, Dan Motter owns Motter Equipment, a global supplier of mining and construction equipment and component parts for surface mining and construction industries with corporate offices near Hibbing, Minn.
