Roush Yates Engines Power Sprint Car Wins

Mooresville, NC (July 8, 2013) Roush Yates’ Ford and Chevy Sprint 360 engines earned wins across the country over the holiday weekend. Sierra Jackson, Brandon Berryman, Bryan Howland, and Matt Tanner each found Victory Lane with help from Roush Yates' power.

Sierra Jackson of Middleton, Idaho made a triumphant return to her home track Thursday night during the Stinker Stores Firecracker 50 and Fireworks Extravaganza at Meridian Speedway. Jackson put a three-second cushion between her and the rest of the field to win the ASA-Sanctioned Mtn. Dew Sprint cars main event. This is her third win of the season with her Ford Roush Yates 360 Sprint engine.

Brandon Berryman picked up his first victory of the season with his Chevy Roush Yates 360 Sprint engine at Cotton Bowl Speedway on Independence Day. Starting fourth in the Lucas Oil ASCS sanctioned event, Berryman overtook the lead on lap 10 to win over fellow competitor Aaron Reutzel and series point’s leader Ray Allen.

Bryan Howland captured the 25-lap A-Main event at Fulton Speedway put on by the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprint Series on Saturday night. Howland led every lap and held off fellow Roush Yates Ford Sprint 360 engine driver Matt Tanner to earn his first win since 2006 in the series.

“Man what a team effort tonight,” said Howland. “I wouldn’t be here without them. I got to thank all my guys that worked hard tonight, this is a great win in front of a big crowd.”

Tanner charged back on the last lap to create an exciting finish when he pulled right up next to Howland as they exited the first turn and raced down the backstretch. Howland was able to use a slower car as a block and rolled off the middle groove to win by only a few feet.

“The last few laps I saw someone sticking their nose underneath me,” said Howland. “I didn’t know if it was second place or a lapped car but I figured I better get going. I tried a different line around lapped cars and it worked. Everywhere I went my car was just great.”

After a second place finish on Saturday night, Tanner was able to come away with his first win at Utica-Rome Speedway on Sunday in the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprint Series. The rain shortened race marked the final night of Speedweeks for the ESS series.
