Mooresville, NC (May 20, 2013) Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park in California played host to the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing series this past weekend. Roush Yates Engines driver Brian Deegan is a frontrunner of the Pro 2 Unlimited class. Deegan had sub-in driver Todd LeDuc as he was in Barcelona, Spain competing in the Rally X event at the X Games. LeDuc wasted no time as he powered the #38 Rockstar Energy Drink/Makita Power Tools Ford to the front early on. He quickly began to streak away from the field, opening a substantial gap on the competition within just a few laps. In an intense battle for second place were Carl Renezder and Rob MacCachren. On lap 13, a caution was thrown and the field was brought together again. The restart generated turmoil as several drivers collected at turn three. LeDuc managed to hold on to the first position while MacCachren earned a spot at second. On the final lap, MacCachren made a solid attempt to pass LeDuc on the inside, but to no avail. LeDuc held off the field from the green to the checkered and brought Deegan's truck home for a much-deserved victory.
The USMTS series invaded LA Raceway in La Monte, Missouri. It marked the 13th career USMTS triumph for 27-year-old Jeremy Payne. The 40-lap main event took place on Friday, May 17th. The win worth $4,000 had many top contenders in attendance. Jeremy Payne used his Roush Yates Power Plant to take the lead from Zack VanderBeek on lap 8. He never looked back as he raced to victory and propelled himself into the points lead of the Arbor Masters Central Region presented by Day Motor Sports.
An enthusiastic crowd in Auburn, Michigan watched as a field of sprint cars made way on a wet and racy track surface at Tri City Motor Speedway. The Engine Pro Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP feature win was picked up by Ryan Grubaugh of St. Johns, Michigan. Grubaugh took advantage of the traction on the highside of the oval with his Roush Yates Engine to make his pass on the fifth lap. He held off further contenders of the 25-lap event taking home the trophy, and his first win of the 2013 season.
Winchester, Virginia is home to "The Action Track" of Winchester Speedway. A $2,000 purse was posted for Saturday, May 18th for the dirt late model 30-lap feature. Former World of Outlaw's Late Model series champion, Rick Eckert was a contender and earned a front-row starting position in the feature. Eckert got an early lead using his Roush Yates Engine as the pack raced off turn-two. From that point on, it was a race for second. Dale Hollidge finished second, scoring his career-best finish at Winchester, followed by Tommy Armel. Eckert was aboard Paul Crowl owned Rocket chassis #7. "Paul has some really great equipment and I'm glad to be able to get a win for him." Eckert stated in Winchester's victory lane. The win for Eckert made him the sixth-different Late Model winner at the track this season.
