SALDANA WILL COMPETE IN DON MARTIN MEMORIAL SILVER CUP
DOUBLEHEADER AT LERNERVILLE SPEEDWAY

SARVER, Pa. (July 15, 2013) – The World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series moves back to the East Coast Tuesday, July 16 and the Outlaws regulars will catch up with the Pennsylvania Posse for the running of the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup Twin 30s presented by GottaRace.com at Lernerville Speedway.

It’s a $30,000 night if you are fortunate enough to win the doubleheader.  The unique format calls for the first 30-lap feature to run conventionally and competitors receive
traditional World of Outlaws points. The winner receives a $15,000 check.  In the second 30-lap A-Main, the leaders are inverted, but no points are at stake.  Competitors will race for the glory and the $15,000 bounty.  To date there has not been one driver winning both segments of the doubleheader.

Joey Saldana, driver of the Motter Equipment Fatheadz Eyewear 71M, won one of the twin events in 2010.

“You get a lot of racing in one night,” said the Brownsburg Bullet.  “It’s an interesting format and if you do well in the first race, you really have your work cut out for you in the second feature having to work your way through a lot of traffic because of the inversion.

“The Pennsylvania Posse factor is huge as well.  They are a great group of racers and the level of difficulty for the twin events is maxed out.”

Saldana is currently sixth in World of Outlaws point standings, most recently scoring a podium finish at the Knight before the Kings Royal Friday, July 12 at Eldora.

Big Game Motorsports Teammates Ready To Turn Fortune During Month of Money

Inside Line Promotions - ROSSBURG, Ohio (July 15, 2013) - The Month of Money didn't get off to a rich start for Big Game Motorsports teammates Craig Dollansky and Sammy Swindell.

After the 25th annual Brad Doty Classic at Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima, Ohio, was delayed from Wednesday to Thursday because of weather, Dollansky and Swindell were unable to qualify in a prime position.

Dollansky timed the Eyecon Trail Cameras car in 14th quickest and advanced from second place to win his heat race, which locked him in the dash. However, Swindell and the Big Game Treestands car qualified 25th quickest and finished fifth in his heat race to miss a transfer position by one spot.
"We went out late and (the track) slowed down," Swindell said. "We just didn't make enough changes for the race track. It's easy to do on those short tracks because everybody is so close. A tenth of a second would have moved us up a long ways.

"It put us in a hole all night. We were moving up through our heat and at least transfer for sure, but got tangled up and went to the back. I went to the back twice and still just missed the transfer spot by six inches. We had to run the B Main and it was kind of the same thing. I just kept getting run over or run into. We were going to make a transfer spot there I believe, but got run over from behind. It made a long night."
Swindell used a provisional to start 25th and he rallied to finish 13th in the feature. Meanwhile, Dollansky, who placed sixth in the dash, endured his own misfortune early in the main event.

"We were pretty decent early, got ourselves in the dash and made some progress," he said after placing 12th. "We got into third pretty quick. We had a cylinder go down into turn three on the opening lap. It was a deal where we were hoping we could make it to the finish. We definitely had a car to win on Thursday at Limaland. Once the motor laid down it was the type of deal where I wasn't sure it was going to make it to the end. The last few laps it didn't. I was covered in oil and it was a bit of a mess."

The weekend wrapped up with a doubleheader at Eldora Speedway with the Knight Before the Kings Royal on Friday and the 30th annual Kings Royal on Saturday.

The Big Game Treestands car powered by Swindell qualified seventh quickest with the Eyecon Trail Cameras car eighth quickest during qualifying on Friday. The Big Game Motorsports teammates both finished fifth in their heat races to advance to the feature, where they started side by side in the seventh row.

"We were starting back again so we thought we'd try something a little different and it didn't work," Swindell said. "We ran a harder left rear (tire) and that probably wasn't the best thing to do. It was tough to do much with."

Swindell finished 19th, while Dollansky maneuvered to an eighth-place result.

"We had a pretty decent car early," Dollansky said. "I think we went from 14th to fifth. Our car wasn't as good at the end of the race as the beginning."

The Big Game Motorsports teammates qualified in reverse on Saturday for the $50,000-to-win Kings Royal as Dollansky edged Swindell. With a unique format and show-up points with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series, the top three in each heat race advanced to the main event. Both the Eyecon Trail Cameras and Big Game Treestands cars narrowly missed out on a transfer by one spot.

However, the top-two qualifiers who didn't advance to the main event through the heat race were locked into the feature. Since five of the top six qualifiers drove to a top-three finish in their heat race, Dollansky earned one of those two spots and he started the feature on the outside of the 10 th row.

"We were lacking overall speed from hot laps all the way through qualifying and the heat race," he said. "We had an issue that we figured out after the heat race. At that point we were starting 20th. It seemed we were a few tenths off the pace."

The Eyecon Trail Cameras car maneuvered to a 12th-place finish, which was his ninth top-15 result in the 11 Kings Royal features that Dollansky has competed in.

"My engine wouldn't take off on restarts and we were losing a spot or two every restart, making us have to get by some cars we had already passed," he said. "It was definitely not the result in the Kings Royal we wanted to have. We were hoping to be a lot stronger."

Swindell missed out on the lock-in position by one spot and was forced to compete in the Last Chance Showdown, which he won to transfer the Big Game Treestands car into his 24th Kings Royal main event. After starting 21st, Swindell struggled to find momentum and quickly found himself battling to stay on the lead lap.

"At one point I was passed by the leader and ended up driving back by and driving away," he said. "The car was pretty good after about eight laps. It was those first eight laps were always a struggle. It just seemed like I was in the wrong place."

Swindell rallied to finish 15th - his 19th top-15 result in the premier event.

The Big Game Motorsports teammates and World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car series continue the Month of Money on Tuesday at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., for the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup.

Richards Caps World of Outlaws Late Model Series Wild West Tour with Victory in Manitoba, Maintains Points Lead

SHINNSTON, W. Va. - July 15, 2013 - Josh Richards capped an up-and-down World of Outlaws Late Model Series Wild West Tour with a hard-fought victory July 11 in his first-ever start at Red River Co-op Speedway in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Though the 25-year-old from Shinnston, W.Va., swept the evening at the three-eighths-mile Canadian oval - earning his series-leading fifth fast time of 2013, winning a heat race and leading all 50 laps of the A-Main from the outside pole starting spot - it didn't come without some sweat equity. He fought off a strong late-race challenge from Tim McCreadie to register his seventh WoO LMS triumph of the season, tying him with friendly rival Darrell Lanigan for the lead in the that category.

After the following night's scheduled WoO LMS event at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D., was rained out and not rescheduled, Richards' $10,650 score at Red River became the final race of a four-event Wild West Tour that was an up-and-down swing for the Mark Richards Racing Enterprises team. In addition to a solid second-place finish in the NAPA Auto Parts Gopher 50 on July 6 at Deer Creek Speedway, Richards also tallied finishes of ninth in the Cowboy 40 on July 9 at Gillette (Wyo.) Thunder Speedway and placed 15th in the 50-lap A-Main on July 5 at Amsoil Speedway in Superior, Wis. A scheduled race on July 8 at Black Hills Speedway in Rapid City, S.D., was also lost to the weather.

The perfect performance on Canadian soil was uplifting for Richards, who once again showed his resilience. After a forgettable performance in the Wild West Tour opener at Amsoil Speedway threatened to put his WoO LMS points lead in jeopardy - in that event Richards relinquished his 12th-place starting spot in the A-Main because his crew mistakenly changed a tire after presenting their car in the staging area and then was involved in an opening-lap crash that cost him 15 laps before he returned to action with a patched-up machine - and a subpar run at Gillette, he came back strong at Red River.

1

"We were fortunate," said Richards, whose WoO LMS points lead after the Wild West Tour sits at 38 markers over Lanigan, who overtook Shane Clanton for second in the standings with a third-place run at Red River. "We kind of hit it right from the start (at Red River). We were good in hot laps - I was a little tight, but the guys said we were fast so we just left it alone and I just tried to focus on driving a little better. Then we were able to set fast time, win our heat, and, obviously draw the number two spot for the feature.

"We had everything going for us, so I just had to do my part and try to get out there and get some open track and get through lapped traffic the best we could.

"It was a little hairy in lapped traffic," added Richards, who registered his 46th career win on the WoO LMS. "They would dirty the track a little bit and take all the air off your car, so any little hole you got, you gotta take it. I didn't know (eventual runner-up Tim) McCreadie was there, but I knew that he was pretty close as slow as we were going there."

Richards, whose second-place finish at Deer Creek on July 6 came after his hopes for challenging Lanigan for the win were hampered by a broken rear bleeder that caused him to lose the brakes on his Valvoline-sponsored Rocket car, was very proud of his team's strong comeback at Red River.

"They've done a great job," Richards said of his crew that includes Mark Richards, Matt Barnes and Cody Duncan. "If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't be where we're at as far as the races we've won and the stuff we've been able to do. They've got all the confidence in me. Even though there's sometimes we're a little off, they know that I can halfway get around there.

"Hopefully we can eliminate some of the bad nights," he added. "We just tightened the car up too much at Gillette, slipped up out of the bottom and lost some spots there. But we came to (Red River) open-minded and gave the car what it wanted and I tried to do the best I could."

Richards will return to WoO LMS action on July 26-27 when he chases a $20,000 top prize in the 24th annual Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury (Ill.) American Legion Speedway. The 100-lap event will mark the first time in his career that he competes at the track.

Rilat Lands 26th Career Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Feature Victory

Inside Line Promotions – ELMA, Wash. (July 15, 2013) – Things are definitely cruising for Travis Rilat and car owner Richard Saumure as the pair recorded a feature victory for the third consecutive week on Friday.

Rilat scored his 26th career Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour win and his first of the season with the premier 360 sprint car series at Grays Harbor Raceway to kick off a weekend doubleheader, which was taped for a delayed television broadcast by Lucas Oil Productions.

“We just had the car to beat that night,” he said. “I like the bigger, faster tracks. With that cushion around the top, we seem to do pretty good at those.”

Rilat maneuvered from fourth to the runner-up position during his heat race at the 3/8-mile oval. It earned him enough points to advance to the feature redraw and he got the No. 3, which lined him up on the inside of the second row for the 25-lap main event.

With the first two Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour drivers in the championship standings starting on the front row, Rilat made quick work to reach the top spot. He passed Johnny Herrera for the runner-up position on the opening lap and then slid Jason Johnson for the lead in turns three and four on Lap 2.

“I knew it was going to be tough with those two guys starting on the front row,” Rilat said. “They were going to be tough to pass. I was watching that top and I knew the top in (turns) one and two wasn’t cleaned off so it had a decent groove on the bottom. It might last five or 10 laps on the bottom. That’s where I ran until after that restart around Lap 5.”

Rilat railed the cushion for the remainder of the race and was only seriously challenged on a late restart when Johnson attempted a slide job in turn two only to see Rilat power around him en route to the victory.
By finishing in the top four, Rilat was locked into Saturday’s feature redraw, which also included the top-two points earners from the heat races on Saturday. Unfortunately, Rilat was given the highest number – six – in the random draw to start on the outside of the third row for the main event.

He maintained his position for the first several laps until he broke a right rear wheel entering turn one. By the time he was towed to the pits, the race had restarted and he was relegated to a 22nd-place finish.
“I think the lap before I glanced off the wall and I weakened the right rear wheel,” he said. “When I went into turn one it had a curb and pretty good chunk of dirt. I hit that curb pretty good and it folded the right rear wheel up.”

Rilat is slated to compete on Friday and Saturday at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada for the 59th annual Gold Cup – an event he won last season.

“That’s kind of an exciting event to go to this weekend being that it’s the home track for Richard and the 39c car,” he said. “That’s where all the sponsors are located and it’s a good time.”
