Reutzel Kicks Off Title Chase at East Bay!

Lonnie Wheatley, CLUTE, Texas (February 19, 2015) – It all begins tonight.

For Aaron Reutzel, the pursuit of the $60,000 Lucas Oil ASCS National championship begins as the “King of the 360’s” Nationals fires off at Tampa’s East Bay Raceway Park.

The three-night event culminates with Saturday night’s $10,000-to-win Ronald Laney Memorial.

The East Bay triple marks the first of 40 nights of ASCS National action at more than 20 different tracks throughout the nation.

And while the Clute, TX, driver turns his first laps atop the storied Florida clay oval this weekend in the Shark-powered BC Fundz/Basic One Services No. 87 Triple X Sprint Car, he likes what he sees going into the event.

“We watched some of the late model stuff last week and it looks like a racy place, hopefully it’ll be wide and slick off some just the way we like it,” Reutzel said.

After finishing off the 2014 season in strong form and kicking off this year with a win already in 410-ci Sprint Car competition, Reutzel and the Wren Motorsports/Momentum Racing Suspensions team enter the season among the leading contenders for the ASCS National title.

It starts out with three nights of full-points action against a stacked field that includes a host of heavy hitters along with the usual contingent of rugged ASCS contenders.

“It’ll be tough with guys like Lasoski, Sides, McCarl, Hodnett and Holtgraver here,” Reutzel says.  “Hopefully we have a little bit of luck on our side this weekend.”

Reutzel topped the win charts on the ASCS National Tour with four triumphs last year and is ready to add more aboard the Wren Motorsports/Momentum Racing Suspensions machine.

“We’re ready for this, this will be a good opportunity to get off to a strong start,” Reutzel commented.

After battling it out aboard the Danny Sander Construction/ButlerBuilt mount over the next three nights against an expected field of more than 50 rivals, Reutzel and crew will head 100 miles or so north on I-75 to Ocala’s Bubba Raceway Park for a two-night tilt next Friday and Saturday.

While Reutzel tackles East Bay Raceway Park this weekend for the first time, he has already turned some laps at Bubba Raceway Park, posting a runner-up finish in All Star Circuit of Champions competition aboard the Lone Star Hydro Maintenance/Wright Way Logistics entry just two weeks ago.

But first, it’s time to take care of some business at East Bay Raceway Park this weekend.

2015 Quick Stats:  7 races, one win, two top-fives, four front-row feature starts.

Up Next: The Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour season opener at Tampa’s East Bay Raceway Park on February 19-21.
