Reutzel Ready for ASCS Speedweek!

Lonnie Wheatley, CLUTE, Texas (June 10, 2014) – Coming off a weekend washout, Aaron Reutzel sets his sights on the Bob Westphal Memorial Cup as the 22nd ASCS Speedweek fires off this Saturday night at the storied Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, TX.

Reutzel and the Bob and Christie Miller’s Car Parts Machine/Wren Motorsports No. 87 Triple-X team were geared up for ASCS National action this past weekend at Lexington, TN, on Friday night and then Little Rock’s I-30 Speedway on Saturday only to have Mother Nature dictate otherwise.

“Friday rained out early so we watched the World of Outlaws race at I-80 in Nebraska then hauled on down to Little Rock,” Reutzel said.

All set to try to make it three wins in a row at “Hammer Hill” aboard the Momentum Racing Suspensions/Danny Sander Construction/ButlerBuilt machine, it wasn’t meant to be as a late afternoon storm washed out the proceedings.

“We unloaded just in time to load it back up and get out of there,” Reutzel said.

Still sixth in ASCS National points after the weekend washout, Reutzel and the Lone Star Hydro Maintenance/BC Fundz/Wright Way Logistics team will look to gain some ground over the five-race ASCS Speedweek that fires off Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, TX.

Following Saturday’s Speedweek opener at Devil’s Bowl, action resumes next Wednesday night, June 18, at Lawton (OK) Speedway before moving on to Creek County Speedway near Tulsa on Thursday the 19th, Muskogee’s Outlaw Motorsports Park on the 20th and then Wheatland, Missouri’s Lucas Oil Speedway on Saturday the 21st.

With nearly $150,000 on the line over the course of the five events, Reutzel will try to come away with the ASCS Speedweek title and the Bob Westphal Memorial Cup.

Already a winner of five feature events this year, Reutzel has previously visited victory lane at two Speedweek tracks including Creek County Speedway and Outlaw Motorsports Park.

2014 Quick Stats:  27 races, 5 wins, 16 top-fives, 21 top-tens, 5 heat race wins, 3 “B” Main wins.

Up Next: ASCS Speedweek opener at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, TX, on Saturday.

Bell Ready to Defend USAC Midget Week Title!

Lonnie Wheatley, NORMAN, Okla. (June 10, 2014) – Coming off a rare idle weekend, reigning USAC National Midget champion Christopher Bell is set to defend his Indiana Midget Week championship beginning with Wednesday night’s action at Gas City I-69 Speedway.

Not only will Bell be defending his Midget Week title over the course of five nights concluding at Kokomo Speedway on Sunday, he’ll be pulling double duty on four of those nights by competing in the wingless Sprint Car ranks as well.

“I love it, I wouldn’t have it any other way,” the 19-year-old sensation from Norman, Oklahoma explained of the upcoming week of racing action.

In addition to piloting the Toyota-powered Keith Kunz Motorsports No. 71 Midget over the next five nights in Indiana, Bell will also take the wheel of the Fox Brothers No. 53 wingless Sprint Car on four of those nights.

And he’s itching to get on the loud pedal after a weekend off.

“It was terrible,” Bell laughed.  “I want to be out there racing!”

Last year, Bell raced to the USAC Indiana Midget Week title on the strength of wins at Lincoln Park and Kokomo and runner-up showings at Gas City and Bloomington.

With nine Midget scores among his 11 overall wins already in 2014, Bell feels good about his chances of repeating as Midget Week champion.  “I think so, we’ve got just as good a shot at it as we had last year.”

Following Wednesday night’s Midget Week opener at Gas City, action continues Thursday night at Putnamville’s Lincoln Park Speedway, Friday at Bloomington Speedway, Saturday at Lawrenceburg Speedway and then Sunday night at Kokomo Speedway.

Bell will pull double-duty with the Fox Brothers No. 53 Non-Wing Sprint Car at all but the Lawrenceburg event.

This week’s handful of events kicks off a busy summer for Bell that continues with four rounds of ASCS Speedweek Winged 360 Sprint Car action in his home state of Oklahoma and then Missouri beginning next Wednesday.

2014 Quick Stats:  43 races, 11 wins, 25 top-fives, 29 top-tens.

This week: USAC Indiana Midget Week and Wingless Sprint Car action.

Wednesday, Gas City I-69 Speedway (Gas City, IN) – Kunz 71 Midget / Fox 53 Non-Wing Sprint Car

Thursday, Lincoln Park Speedway (Putnamville, IN) – Kunz 71 Midget / Fox 53 Non-Wing Sprint Car

SALDANA CREDITS TEAM OWNER AND SPONSORS
FOR MOTIVATION, INSPIRATION

JACKSON, Minn. (June 10, 2014) – Last weekend Joey Saldana drove the Motter Equipment HE&M Saw Beltline Body Shop 71M Sprint Car to his fourth World of Outlaws victory of the season at Greenwood, Nebraska.

Saldana described his 88th career victory as a very cool moment and a very gratifying win at his family’s hometown track.  I-80 Speedway is close to Lincoln where his Mom, Dad and two sisters were born.

“Dan (Motter, team owner), Doug Harris (HE&M Saw president) and Lonnie Olsen (owner of Beltline Body Shop) have given us a tremendous amount of motivation and inspiration,” said Saldana.   “I know every member of our team digs deep because of it.”

The Motter men will put their skills to the test on two consecutive nights of racing on half-mile tracks.  Friday, June 13 will find the Outlaws at Jackson Speedway in Minnesota and Saturday, June 14 they will be lapping the famed Knoxville Raceway.

“The Jackson race is a home state race for our team owner, Dan Motter, whose business is based near Hibbing,” continued Saldana.  “I know he is planning to be with us for this event and it is always nice to have him in the house.  He’s our biggest fan, naturally, and we’re always fired up to do our best for him.”

Though Saldana hasn’t won an Outlaws event at Jackson yet, he is looking forward
to adding this to his resume as one of his winning tracks.

On Saturday the Outlaws will set up pitside at Knoxville Raceway.

“It’s always exciting to come to the ‘Sprint Car Capital of the World,’” said Saldana.
“This track is inspiring.  First of all it’s an awesome facility, and second of all, it hosts the crown jewel of our series.

“Though track conditions are fickle and probably won’t be the same this weekend as when we come back to run the Nationals in August, it is still important to get as much data and log as many laps as you can on this track.

“I have won at Knoxville before but have never won the Nationals.  Last year our team won the coveted pole for the Nationals besting over 100 entries for the honor.  So we know we have the capability to be quick and fast around this track.

“We are shooting to lead the Outlaws in victories this season so we are standing on the throttle to try to make that happen.

Saldana is currently third in World of Outlaws point standings.  With only 50 points separating the leader and fourth place, this year promises to be one of the most competitive in recent memory.
