Johnny Pursley Records Podium Finish with LOLMDS at Cherokee.

Clover, South Carolina (07/13/16) – Johnny Pursley enjoyed a stellar outing against many of the nation’s top drivers on Saturday night, when he powered his Pursley Grading #09 Longhorn Chassis / Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model to a podium finish with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at Cherokee Speedway.

“To be able to stick with these guys tonight says a lot about our team,” noted Pursley. “We sometimes struggle here. But tonight we had a car that ran third against this caliber of drivers that was an honor. I have been coming here a long time and that was the biggest crowd I think I have ever seen here.”

Following a rain-out on Thursday at Fayetteville Motor Speedway (Fayetteville, North Carolina), Johnny Pursley invaded Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, South Carolina) on Friday night for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) sanctioned event. Drawing 26 entries for the 18th annual Grassy Smith Memorial, Pursley scored a runner-up finish in his heat race behind Scott Bloomquist, which earned him the 4th-starting spot for the $10,000-to-win A-Main. After a 4-hour rain delay the main event was finally contested. Moving up one position in the 50-lap feature, Johnny captured his career-best LOLMDS finish, placing 3rd behind Scott Bloomquist and Casey Roberts with Brandon Sheppard and Jonathan Davenport rounding out the Top 5.
