Southern Nationals Bonus Series Sanctions $10,000 Fall Classic Weekend at Ponderosa Speedway October 10, 11

SOMERSET, KY (September 8, 2014)—The Southern Nationals Bonus Series is pleased to announce two additional events to its remaining 2014 schedule that will see the Ray Cook promoted tour at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY on Friday October 10 and Saturday October 11.

The tour will kick off the weekend at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday October 10 with the 7th Annual Friday Night Rumble that will pay $2,500 to win and $250 to start. The weekend concludes on Saturday October 11 with the 24th Fall Classic Saving the Ta-Ta’s Topless 60, paying $7,500 to win and $400 to start. The Super Late Models will race with the roofs removed from the race cars on Saturday October 11.

The 7th Annual Friday Night Rumble will take place on Friday October 10 and will feature the Southern Nationals Bonus Series in action in a full program of practice, A-B group time trials, dash (top 2 qualifiers from each group will be in a dash that will set the first two rows of the A-Main), heats, B-Mains, and the 35 lap, $2,500 to win/$250 to start 7th Annual Friday Night Rumble. The track’s Modified, Pro Late Model, and Sportsman divisions will also be in action that evening.

The 24th Annual Fall Classic will take place the following evening on Saturday October 11 and will feature the Southern Nationals Bonus Series in action in a full program of practice, A-B group time trials, dash (top 2 qualifiers from each group will be in a dash that will set the first two rows of the A-Main), heats, B-Mains, and the 60 lap, $7,500 to win/$400 to start 24th Annual Fall Classic Saving the Ta-Ta’s Topless 60, as the Super Late Model division will sport the convertible look and race with the roofs removed from the race cars. The track’s Modified, Pro Late Model, and Sportsman divisions will also be in action that evening as well.

“The Southern Nationals Bonus Series is honored to be a part of the rich and historic tradition of the Fall Classic at Ponderosa Speedway”, stated series race director Chris Tilley. “The Spring Nationals event at Ponderosa was a huge success and look forward to getting back there now in October for this prestigious event”, added Tilley.

The tire rule for the event will be as follows: Hoosier 1300, 1350, and 1600; American Racer 44, 48, and 56. These will be the only tires allowed on all four corners of the race cars and tires will be checked and tire samples will be taken and sent to lab to insure tire meet the proper compound benchmarks.

Times and purses for the October 10 and October 11 Fall Classic weekend at Ponderosa Speedway will be announced in an upcoming press release.
