Dusty Johnston Takes Aim on MSRA Double Header

Flippin, Arkansas (5/06/08) –Dusty Johnston will return to action this weekend behind the wheel of his #16 GRT By Frye/Kuntz & Co. Racing Engine Super Late Model this weekend in a double header with the O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Models.

Dusty set out to compete in a trio of events last weekend, but Mother Nature won the first night as heavy rains at Batesville Motor Speedway nixed the Friday night O’Reilly MSRA event that was scheduled.

On Saturday night, the team headed north to I-44 Speedway in Lebanon, Missouri for a $10,000 to win event that was co-sanctioned by the World of Outlaws and MARS Super Late Models.  Luck would not be on Dusty’s side as he broke a rotor on his qualifying lap.  The team worked feverishly to replace it, and got him ready just in time for the heat race.  Since the crew spent all of their time replacing the rotor, the car setup was off for the heat race, and Johnston was not able to advance from the back.  In his b-main, the car was much better, but he ran out of laps and failed to transfer to the main event.

Sunday evening, found Johnston Motorsports at Monett Speedway in Monett, Missouri for another WoO Vs. MARS event.  The team would battle tire selection all night, and Dusty once again fell short of making the main event against many of the nation’s top drivers.

“It was just one of those weekends where everything that could go wrong, did.  Add that in with the fact, that we were competing with the top guys in the nation and it was a tough weekend.  Hopefully we’ll get everything back on track this weekend,” commented Johnston.

This Friday and Saturday, May 9th-10th Johnston Motorsports will head to Greenville Speedway in Greenville, Mississippi for a pair of $2,000 to win events with the O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Models.  Dusty picked up four wins in 2007 with the O’Reilly MSRA and will be looking for two more series’ triumphs this weekend.  For more information, please visit www.MSRADirt.com .

Dusty Johnston Motorsports would like to thank all of their 2008 sponsors including PJ Transportation, El Chico Café, Burns Funeral Home, EZ Loader Boat Trailers, Swans Plumbing, Integra, JFR Graphics, Simpson Race Products, Frye Motorsports, Kuntz & Co., MSRMafia.com, Blue Heron Campground & Resort, and Ideal RV.

Earl Pearson Jr. Finishes 5th in Kentucky, Heads to Diamond Nationals in Missouri with Special Color Scheme

ARCHDALE, NC (May 6, 2008)- Earl Pearson Jr. driving in his first event with a cast on his broken right wrist from a wreck in early April was able to extend his points lead in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series national points standings with a solid 5th place finish at last weekends "Kentucky 99" event in Calvert City, KY. Earl driving the Bobby Labonte owned Mastersbilt Chassis  finished 3rd in his heat race to earn a 12th starting position for the 50-lap feature event. Earl would advance into the top five by halfway and was running as high as 3rd place before finishing a solid 5th place at the checkers. Earl now leads the series points standings by 45 points over Steve Casebolt. "It was a good finish for us with the circumstances we were under. It was a little uncomfortable at times in the car trying to drive with the cast but I was able to get the job done a get a top 5 finish", stated Earl.

Earl Pearson Jr. and the Bobby Labonte Racing Team will travel this weekend to the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO. and compete in the "Super Clean Diamond Nationals" this Friday and Saturday. The 100-lap feature event sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will pay a whopping $40,000 to win. In association with this huge event Earl and the team will compete for additional cash awards in the Integra Crew Chief Competition on Friday night as the Bobby Labonte Racing Team will compete in a pit stop competition against the other teams that should be entertaining for the fans on Friday night.

Earl and the Bobby Labonte Racing Team are excited to announce a special color scheme for this weekends events at the "Diamond Nationals" and the remaining ten (10) selected events for broadcast on SPEED Channel on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in 2008. The special color scheme will be a familiar one for Earl Pearson Jr. fans as the team will debut a mostly red car with primary sponsor Lucas Oil logos on the front hood and quarter panels similar to Earls cars when he drove for Carlton Lamm and the Dunn-Benson Ford Motorsports team. Bobby Labonte and the Lucas Oil company agreed to a contract to bring back the red car for the TV shows along with a special red Lucas Oil car for Bobby Labonte to drive in the Nextel Prelude later this year at Eldora Speedway. In addition to these events Bobby Labonte and his team will assemble a new dirt late model racecar with the red color scheme and Lucas Oil logos that will be displayed in the new Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, IN where the Indianapolis Colts will play beginning this season. The new stadium will have a special motorsports display area where fans can tour at every event at the new stadium. The car will represent the four national touring series national championships Earl has won sponsored by Lucas Oil.

"We've been working on this deal for a while now and were excited to bring back the red car that everyone was familiar with that I drove for so many years. Lucas Oil will be the primary sponsor on the red cars with LifeLong Locks as the associate sponsor. When were not racing the TV events we will be back in the blue cars with LifeLong Locks as the primary sponsor and Lucas Oil as the associate sponsor. Bobby and myself are also excited to get to display our car in the new Lucas Oil Stadium. Forest Lucas and the Lucas Oil Company have been great supporters of my career over the past 6-7 years and it's a great honor that he wanted to include our car in the new Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Hopefully we can put the red car in victory lane this weekend", stated Earl.

Bradford, OH - Mother Nature would win her third straight Lucas Oil Late Model Series event on Friday night at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway as heavy rains washed out the night's event. On Saturday evening clear skies showed through and night two of the "99 Extravaganza" was underway. "The Sniper" Wayne Chinn timed in twentieth quick overall, which would put him in the fifth starting position for his heat race. After crossing the finish line in the same position Chinn would have to start on the outside front row of the consolation event.

Veteran racer Terry English and "The Sniper" battled side by side for a handful of laps, during the consolation event, before English edged ahead.  Wayne finished in the second position transferring into the 50 lap feature event.

The Erwin Chrysler Dodge Jeep / Sugar Creek Packing / 1 Shot Graphics / AWP of Ohio / Dargie Powered / Rayburn Race Car rolled off the starting grid for the 50 lap $9,999 to win feature event from outside row ten, in the twentieth position. "The Sniper" moved around the track until he found the line he preferred, and then he came alive around lap 15 and started picking off his competitors. Rim riding around the high side of the race track he was able to use the momentum off the corners to power by cars down the straight aways.

Chinn moved in top the top ten shortly after the half way point of the 50 lap feature. Using the double file restarts to his advantage "The Sniper" was able to climb up to the fourth position on lap forty just before the caution waved. On the restart Chinn powered in to turn one, but coming off turn two the car slowed with driveline issues, ending the solid run. Wayne was credited with a thirteenth place finish and remains tenth in the Lucas Oil Late Model Series standings and second in the Quarter Master Rookie of the Year honors.

This coming weekend Wayne Chinn and Chinn Motorsports will be on the "Road to Wheatland" as they head to Wheatland, Missouri for the $40,000 to win Super Clean Diamond Nationals event at Lucas Oil Speedway. The event is sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Series and will be taped by the SPEED channel, which will be broadcast at a later date.

You can listen to the Lucas Oil Late Model Series sanctioned Super Clean Diamond Nationals LIVE on the internet.
