Jason Hughes Scores Biggest Win of His Career with WMDTC Triumph

Westville, Oklahoma (7/29/13) – Jason Hughes enjoyed a dominant weekend in his #12 West Siloam Pawn/Gressel Racing/Hughes/Mullins Race Engines Open Wheel Modified on his way to the biggest win of his career with a $20,000 triumph in the 3rd Annual World Modified Dirt Track Championship

Jason Hughes opened the 3rd Annual World Modified Dirt Track Championship with a bang on Wednesday night at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minnesota) by scoring the win in the preliminary event!

He started the night by being the fastest qualifier in his group and with the top six qualifiers in each group being inverted for heat race action, he started 6th. A 6th to 2nd run in his heat race resulted in Hughes being the 2nd highest point's earner via preliminary action, and as a result he started 2nd in the feature alongside Lucas Schott. Jason would go on to charge to the win in the feature to end the night as the top point's earner, which locked him into Saturday night's $20,000-to-win finale.

On Saturday evening Jason entered the final night of the mega-event in front of a capacity crowd and threatening skies at the 3/8 mile oval. Via his preliminary night performance Hughes started 4th in the feature, and early in the event would advance to the second position behind race leader, Jason Krohn. He stalked Krohn until a lap 28, when he pulled even with the leader before taking control of the lead on lap 30. The next several laps found Hughes inching away from the field, but a late-race caution that bunched the field with just seven laps remaining gave second place runner, Stormy Scott a shot at the top spot. However, Jason would not be denied as he raced to the biggest win of his career and fifth of the 2013 season!

"We had a really good car all weekend; Steve (Karver, crew chief) had this thing dialed in and we were pretty comfortable out there," Hughes said following his seventh USMTS win at Deer Creek, "I didn't want to see that caution at the end. I hadn't seen anybody until then so I figured we were running pretty good. I have to thank all of my sponsors and fans for their awesome support."

Scott, Joey Jenson, Krohn, and Rodney Sanders rounded out the top five finishers. Full results from the event are available at www.USMTS.com .

Jason now turns his attention to the start of The Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s Cup with the USMTS tour, which begins this weekend, August 1st-3rd, in Arkansas and Missouri. Hughes, who was the 2010 USMTS National Champion, will begin his pursuit of another title on Friday night at Batesville Motor Speedway (Locust Grove, Arkansas) before heading to West Plains Motor Speedway (West Plains, Missouri) on Friday and concluding the weekend on Sunday evening at Monett Speedway (Monett, Missouri).

Earl Pearson Jr. and Bobby Labonte Racing Bring Home Tenth Top-5 Finish of Season
Take Week Off to Prepare for Florence Speedway $50,000 Purse

Trinity, NC (July 29, 2013) - Coming off two weeks in the Mid-West, Bobby Labonte Racing (BLR) had a short week in the shop to prepare for two races up north. The team left Thursday evening for Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex in Markleysburg, PA where they would race Friday night. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) had 36 cars on hand for the event Friday, July 26.

Earl Pearson Jr. and Steve Shaver were both among the 36 entrants Friday night; both competed in Heat 4 with Pearson finishing third to transfer to the feature and Shaver finishing eighth. Shaver competed in B-Main No. 2 looking for a transfer spot to the feature. He finished third in his B-Main race and would start the feature in 22nd spot. Pearson Jr. started the feature in 12th. The 50-lap feature saw a lot of great action, with Pearson Jr. racing hard to the front in his No. 44 Lucas Oil Longhorn Chassis and ending up just short of the victory in fourth place. The fourth-place finish for BLR gave the team its 10th top-five of the 2013 season. Shaver also made a charge to the front to finish in 14th place.

"We didn't qualify well so started back in our heat race, but the guys worked hard and we were able to drive to the front in our heat to get a transfer spot," said Pearson Jr. "I drove the car hard in the feature and finished fourth. We will take that finish and hope to keep gaining in points."

Pearson Jr. and BLR, along with the LOLMDS, were supposed to race at Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, MD on Saturday, July 27, however, Mother Nature had other plans. The "Conococheague 50" at Hagerstown Speedway had to be cancelled due to rain forecasted for the area into the night. The event will not be made up due to any available dates on the LOLMDS remaining schedule.

Bobby Labonte Racing will take the weekend off and return to action August 8th - 10th at the 31st Annual Sunoco North/South 100 presented by Lucas Oil at Florence Speedway, Walton, KY. With Pearson Jr.'s top-five finish he remains in fifth place in Lucas Oil Championship Point Standings, 285 points out of first place. Ronny Lee Hollingsworth Wins; Heads to Wisconsin

Northport, Alabama (07/29/13) – Ronny Lee Hollingsworth entered a pair of NeSmith Late Model Series events over the weekend in the state of Tennessee in a borrowed car, and by the time the final checkered flag had dropped he had claimed his fifth win of the 2013 season as well as extended his advantage in the standings.

Action opened on Friday night at Tennessee National Raceway (Hohenwald, Tennessee), where 27 competitors locked to try and claim the $2,000 top prize. Hollingsworth was piloting an entry that he borrowed from Evan Ellis since he was preparing his car for the upcoming USA Nationals at Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wisconsin). The fact that he was in a borrowed car didn't slow him down a bit though as Ronny Lee started his night by setting the second fastest time to lock into the 2nd starting spot for the 40 lap finale. He would go on to lead every lap as he claimed the victory by over three seconds! Josh Adkins, Ronnie Johnson, Todd Morrow, and Shane Stephens rounded out the top five finishers.

Saturday evening found the team pitted at Clayhill Motorsports (Atwood, Tennessee), where the winner's check was increased to $2,500. With 26 entries looking to take a shot at the event Hollingsworth qualified 9th fastest in the field to lock into the 9th starting spot for the 50 lap feature. During the course of the caution-plagued finale Ronny Lee advanced six spots to a third place finish behind race winner, Tait Davenport, and Kyle Bronson.

“I want to thank Evan Ellis for letting me borrow this car for the weekend, as I’m getting my car ready to run next weekend in Wisconsin,” Hollingsworth said. “The car was fast right out of the trailer and it really helped us in the Championship battle.”

Hollingsworth continues to lead the latest NeSmith National Late Model Series standings over Ronnie Johnson with an eight point advantage. Full results from the event are available at www.NeSmithRacing.com .

Hollingsworth Motorsports now prepares to travel to the far north this weekend, where he will enter a pair of World of Outlaws (WoO) Super Late Model events at Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wisconsin). On Thursday night a $6,000-to-win race will be contested. Friday will see the preliminary events for the 26th Annual USA Nationals held, while Saturday’s program will include b-mains as well as the $50,000-to-win, 100 lap finale. Ronny Lee’s trip has been made possible by the FANS Fund, where fans donated money to vote to have Hollingsworth, and a host of other drivers attend the mega-event.
