Bobby Labonte Racing scores 2nd place finish at Hagerstown Speedway

Trinity, NC (April 22, 2013) - Bobby Labonte Racing (BLR) was set for a weekend full of racing Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights in the Northeast as part of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS). However, the race scheduled for Friday, April 19th at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex in Markleysburg, PA was rescheduled to July 28th due to heavy rains. The team had a couple more days in the shop before heading to Hagerstown Speedway on Saturday.

Earl Pearson Jr. and Steve Shaver both headed to Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, MD for the $10,000 to win Saturday night Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series race. Both drivers were looking to have good races in their new redesigned Longhorn Chassis. With 34 cars in attendance, Shaver and Pearson Jr. finished 2nd in their respective Heat races. As the cars lined up for the feature, Shaver would start 5th with "the Hurricane" right behind in 7th. Pearson Jr. loved racing on the high speed track and quickly found himself in 2nd place. EPJ went on to drive his #44 Lucas Oil Longhorn Chassis to a 2nd place finish with Shaver finishing close behind in 7th. The BLR team had a great night with two top 10 finishes in the new Longhorn Chassis.

"We had a great night on all fronts. It's good to come back from the races in Texas and finish strong tonight," said Pearson Jr. "Jimmy was dominant tonight; we really didn't have anything for him. Getting 2nd tonight and showing we have a great car feels good."

Sunday's nights races were in the "Mountaineer State" at West Virginia Motor Speedway with 34 cars present for the $10,000 to win LOLMDS race. Shaver finished 2nd in his Heat race and EPJ finished 4th in his respective Heat race. Shaver started the Feature in 7th and Pearson Jr. started back in traffic 14th place. Both drivers worked hard in the 50 lap Feature but didn't have the finishes either wanted. Pearson Jr. finished the Feature in 11th with Shaver finishing in 22nd position.

"We started further back tonight and it was hard to pass; not the finishes we were hoping for." said Pearson Jr., "However, we still have good cars and are very happy with our new Longhorn chassis. We will take this week off and get ready for a busy May."

The strong finishes this weekend puts Earl Pearson Jr. sitting 3rd in points only 115 points out of first place. Bobby Labonte Racing will take the weekend off before starting off a busy month of racing in May with stops at Tri-City Speedway, Pontoon Beach, IL on Friday, May 3rd and Paducah International Raceway, Paducah, KY on Saturday, May 4th. Saldana and 71M Team Will Join Fast Company
For World of Outlaws Race At Salina Highbanks

SALINA, Okla. (April 23, 2013) – Joey Saldana, driver of the Motter Equipment Fatheadz Eyewear 71M, hopes that the Salina Highbanks Speedway is the road to redemption.

The World of Outlaws STP Sprint car drivers will gather Friday, April 26 at Salina, a super-fast high-banked track with plenty of racing room.

Fans who were in Haubstadt, Ind. last Saturday night, witnessed some of the best side-by-side, slip sliding, epic races of the season. Saldana and Cody Darrah exchanged the lead for 24 laps of the A-Main before their challenge was derailed by a collision that put both drivers out of contention for the rest of the evening.

“We definitely have a car that can win,” said Saldana.  “I know that it’s like feeding time in the shark tank when we’re all out there racing.  Adrenaline is high and everyone wants to win.

“We were very disappointed in Saturday night’s outcome.   We’re motivated and we’re up for a great night of racing at Salina.  I can’t wait to get back in the 71M!”

The Outlaws’ only prior event at this track was in 2011.  With new tires this season, the teams that raced here before will only have limited usable data.  So it’s pretty much a clean slate with teams trying to dial in their set-ups during a few hot laps prior to qualifying.

Weather forecasts at the present time show a high likelihood of rain in Salina on Friday night.  Should Friday night’s activities get washed out, the Outlaws’ contingency plan is to run the event Saturday night.

Saldana is third in the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car point standings and has one track record, one quick time, three top five and 10 top 10 finishes so far this season.

He is seventh in World of Outlaws cumulative career victories with 83.
