NeSMITH CHEVROLET OLD MAN’S GARAGE WRS SPOTLIGHT – WHYNOT MOTORSPORTS PARK

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

                CARTERSVILLE, GA – Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS is a charter member of the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series and will begin its eighth season under the sanction when the National points season opens on March 25.  Prior to that, Whynot Motorsports Park will present a pair of “Pre-Season” events.

                The Whynot Motorsports Park NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Model Division and the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division will be in action this Saturday night and again on March 23.  The first event for National points in both Divisions will be held on April 6.

                Whynot Motorsports Park drivers in both the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Model Division and the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division will compete against drivers at other sanctioned tracks across the country in their respective Divisions using a points system that will count their best 14 weekly point totals over the 27-week season that runs from March 25 through September 29.

                The 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series National Champion will earn $10,000, and the point fund will pay back to the Top 10 drivers in the final point standings.  The 2013 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division National Champion will earn $2,000 and the point fund will also reward the Top 10 drivers in the final point standings.  Drivers in both Divisions will also compete for the Whynot Motorsports Park Track Point Fund.

                Through the years, Whynot Motorsports Park has been the home track to five of the first six NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series West Region Champions.  Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS, who will return to competition in 2013, was the series champion in 2006, 2007, and 2009, while Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS took the title in 2008 and 2011.

                Joining Keeton and defending track champion McDuffie as Whynot Motorsports Park NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series title contenders are Jamey Boland of Cuba, AL, Wiley Williams of Stonewall, MS, Daniel Bridgemon of Meridian, MS, Randy Boyd of Marion, MS, Tim Dees of Meridian, MS, Justin McRee of Cottondale, AL, Phillip Stanley of Silas, AL, Tody Ratcliff of Meridian, MS, and Larry Murphy of Meridian, MS.

                The 2013 season will be the inaugural season for the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division at Whynot Motorsports Park.  Top drivers expected to compete are defending track champion Kyle Rutledge of Meridian, MS, along with Tommy Nichols of Meridian, MS, Jeffrey Walker of Meridian, MS, Wayne Medders of Morton, MS, Scott Vowell of Philadelphia, MS, and Brandon Leftwich of Meridian, MS.

The dirt late model race cars in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series are powered by the economical Chevrolet Performance Crate Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications. 

There are two engines to choose from, the 400 horsepower aluminum-head 604 engine and the 350 horsepower steel-head 602 engine that gets a 100-pound weight break.  The Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine is also used in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division.

                Whynot Motorsports Park will also host two Crate Racin’ USA touring events in two other Divisions in 2013.  The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division will be at WMP on Saturday night, May 25 with a 50-lap $2,500-to-win event.  Justin McRee of Cottondale, AL is the defending race champion.

The Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series will be at Whynot Motorsports Park on Saturday night, September 7 with a 50-lap $3,000-to-win race for dirt late models powered by the $7,000 all-aluminum Chevrolet Performance CT 525 Engine.  The Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series is the newest traveling series under the Crate Racin’ USA banner.
