Ashley Newman Continues Hot Streak with NMMP Win

Ripley, Tennessee (06/25/14) –Ashley Newman bagged his tenth win of 2014 over the weekend with a $2,000 victory at North Mississippi Motor Park (Corinth, Mississippi) in his #73 Upton Motorsports/Greg's Sawmill/Bob Pierce Crate Late Model.

Ashley Newman opened his weekend with a NeSmith Weekly Late Model Series program at Lexington 104 Speedway (Lexington, Tennessee) on Friday evening. Newman finished second in heat race action, after a hard fought effort in the feature finished second behind race winner, Bronson Berry. Saturday Ashley traveled to North Mississippi Speedway (Corinth, Mississippi) for the Dirty Forty Limited Late Model event that boosted a $2,000 top prize for competitors. Newman timed in third during qualifications to lock into the third starting spot for the finale. When the feature went green, pole sitter Danny Christian made contact with the outside wall on the initial start, ending his night and moving Newman to the pole position. On the restart Newman bolted to the race lead and went on for the wire-to-wire victory.

“To already have ten wins this early in the year really means a lot to me,” said Newman. “As always I have to give so much credit to the Upton family, my crew, and all of my great sponsors for their never-ending support.”

The upcoming weekend, June 27th-28th, will likely see Newman entering a pair of events. On Friday night the team plans to enter the annual Jim Hall Memorial at Benton Raceway Park (Benton, Missouri), which will pay $3,000-to-win for Crate Late Models. The weekend will draw to a close on Saturday night at Camden Speedway (Camden, Tennessee) with a NeSmith Weekly Late Model Series Event.
