NeSMITH CHEVROLET OLD MAN’S GARAGE WRS SPOTLIGHT – EAST ALABAMA MOTOR SPEEDWAY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

                CARTERSVILLE, GA – East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL begins its sixth season with the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series when the 2013 National points season begins its 27-week run on March 25.  East Alabama Motor Speedway also begins its 40th season of weekly racing this Saturday night with the Jimmy Thomas Memorial Race.

                Drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Model Division at East Alabama Motor Speedway will be competing in a $1,000-to-win “pre-season” race this Saturday night as a part of the Jimmy Thomas Memorial Race.

                The first NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series National points race at East Alabama Motor Speedway will be on April 6.  Drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Model Division at East Alabama Motor Speedway will be competing against drivers at other NeSmith Chevrolet OMG WRS tracks through a points system.

                A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals will be counted during the season that runs through September 29.  The 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series National Champion will receive $10,000 out of the point fund that will pay back to the Top 10 drivers at the end of the season.  East Alabama Motor Speedway drivers will also compete for a track point fund.

                The 2012 East Alabama Motor Speedway NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Model Champion Joey Thomas of Seale, AL will return to defend his title and compete for the National Championship.  Other top EAMS competitors are Montana Dudley of Phenix City, AL, Thomas Lewis of Hamilton, GA, Pat Wall of Columbus, GA, and Terrance Nowell of Phenix City, AL.

                East Alabama Motor Speedway has produced two NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series East Region Champions with Scott Knowles of Lanett, AL taking the title in 2009, and Chase Edge of LaFayette, AL winning the championship in 2010.

The dirt late model race cars in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series are powered by the economical Chevrolet Performance Crate Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications.  There are two engines to choose from, the 400 horsepower aluminum-head 604 engine and the 350 horsepower steel-head 602 engine that gets a 100-pound weight break.

                East Alabama Motor Speedway will also host two Crate Racin’ USA touring events in two other Divisions in 2013 during their 40th Anniversary Season.  The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division will be at EAMS on Thursday night, July 4 with the 7th Annual $2,500-to-win Salute To The Armed Forces 50.  William Thomas of Phenix City, AL is the defending champion.

The Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series will be at EAMS on Saturday night, August 3 with a 50-lap $3,000-to-win race for dirt late models powered by the $7,000 Chevrolet Performance CT 525 Engine.  The Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series is the newest traveling series under the Crate Racin’ USA banner.
