NeSMITH RACING TO HAND OUT $160,000 AT ANNUAL AWARDS BANQUET

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

                CARTERSVILLE, GA – NeSmith Racing officials will hand out $160,000 in point fund and contingency money at the NeSmith Racing Annual Awards Banquet at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame in Dawsonville, GA on January 18.  The Top 10 drivers in four NeSmith Racing Divisions will be honored at the banquet, along with the presentation of several special awards.

                The Top 10 drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division, the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series, the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series, and the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division will receive their point fund money and trophies at the Awards Banquet.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Top 10 drivers will divide $50,000 with National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Inductee Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN pocketing $20,000 and hoisting the NeSmith Cup as the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Champion.

                In addition to the Champion’s share of the point fund, Johnson will also receive $1,000 from Hedman Husler Hedders of the Hedman Hustler of the Year Award.  Johnson earned the most passing points during the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series season by improving his position the most from the start of each race to the finish.

                Kyle Bronson of Brandon, FL is the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Championship Runner-Up, and in addition to his point fund earnings, will receive a check for $5,000 as the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS Rookie of the Year.  Bronson will also receive a new Warrior Chassis from Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN.

                Also being honored at the banquet are the third through tenth-place drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division and respectively they are Tait Davenport of Benton, KY, Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS, who will also receive a GRT Chassis, Justin McRee of Woodstock, AL, Ronny Lee Hollingsworth of Northport, AL, Brent Barrett of Cleveland, MS, Josh Adkins of Talladega, AL, Michael Blount of Sumrall, MS, and two-time series Champion David Earl Gentry of Murfreesboro, TN.

                A $10,000 point fund was paid out at the beginning of the season to the Top 10 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series drivers in the five-race Bubba Army Speedweek at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, FL.  Ronny Lee Hollingsworth was the 2013 Bubba Army Speedweek Champion and collected $2,000.

                One of two new NeSmith Racing Divisions for 2013, the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series, will have the Top 10 drivers in the point standings dividing up a $30,000 point fund.  The 2013 Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series Champion William Thomas of Phenix City, AL will receive a check for $10,000.

                The second through tenth-place drivers receiving awards at the banquet respectively are Tim Busha of Boaz, AL, Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN, Matthew Turner of Dawsonville, GA, Brent Barrett of Cleveland, MS, Adam Martin of Talladega, AL, Chase Edge of LaFayette, AL, Ross Martin of Talladega, AL, David Brannon of Elora, TN, and Brad Smith of Winston-Salem, NC.

                The $20,000 point fund for the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Models will be paid out to the Top 10 drivers that competed against each other at their respective weekly tracks using a point system over a 27-week season using their best 14 weekly point totals.

                Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS will be honored as the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Champion, and also as the first driver in the eight-year history of the series to post a perfect total of 700 points.  Daspit will receive a check for $10,000 and a new Trak-Star Chassis from Boland Performance of Cuba, AL.

                The nine drivers that finished behind Daspit in the second through ninth spots respectively are Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS, Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS, Montana Dudley of Phenix City, AL, who will also receive a Rocket Chassis, Cliff Williams of Star, MS, Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS, Jeff Glisson of Boaz, KY, Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS, Robby Moore of Brosley, MO and Ronnie Cooper of McKenzie, TN.

The 15 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series sanctioned tracks divided up a $25,000 point fund to hand out to the top drivers in their respective NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Model Divisions.  A total of 376 different drivers took part in the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series season.

The NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division was the second new Division for NeSmith Racing in 2013.  The Top 10 drivers in the point standings, who competed against each other at their respective weekly tracks using a point system over a 27-week season using their best 14 weekly point totals, will divide up a $10,000 point fund.

Trey Bright of Coker, AL will receive a check for $2,000 for winning the 2013 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division National Championship.  Second through tenth respectively were Kevin Spears of Fayette, AL, Calvin Cook of Pace, FL, Roger Flynn of Denham Springs, LA, Adam Cheeks of Guntown, MS, Dave Nations of Raymond, MS, Mark Barnett of Aberdeen, MS, Jeremy Flurry of Smithville, MS, Brandon Leftwich of Meridian, MS, and Eddie Willis of Saucier, MS.

The inaugural 2013 season of the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division exceeded all expectations and the top drivers at eight different tracks will divide a $14,000 point fund.  A total of 264 different drivers earned points during the 2013 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division season.

Warrior Race Cars build by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN will be awarded with their fourth NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Chassis Manufactures Championship, and Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL will pick up their fourth NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufactures Championship.

There will also be several other awards handed out that include the Bob Cross Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award, the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Promoter of the Year Award, and the NeSmith Performance Parts Crew Chief of the Year Award in all four Divisions.  NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Founder and CEO Mike Vaughn will also deliver the Annual State of the Series Address.

The Georgia Racing Hall of Fame and Thunder Road Museum is located at 415 Highway 53 East in Dawsonville, GA.  The Cocktail Hour will be from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., Dinner is at 6 p.m., and the Awards Ceremonies begin at 7 p.m.
