TALLADEGA SHORT TRACK TO OPEN AND CLOSE 2014 CHEVY SUPER SERIES SCHEDULE

                CARTERSVILLE, GA – Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series officials have announced that Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL will bookend the 2014 schedule with two events.  Talladega Short Track will host the season opener and the season finale for America’s first “Factory Backed and Factory Built” super late model series.

                The Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series will open its second season at Talladega Short Track with a $3,000-to-win $300-to-start 50-lap race on March 15, 2014.  The 2nd Annual $6,000-to-win Dega 100 will close the 2014 Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series season at Talladega Short Track on October 11, 2014.

Local favorite Tim Busha of Boaz, AL is the defending champion of the Dega 100, and he also finished second in the 2013 Chevrolet Super Late Model Series point standings with two victories.

                Along with Busha, several Top 20 drivers in the 2013 Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series point standings that call TST their home track include the father-son team of Ross Martin of Talladega, AL and Adam Martin of Talladega, AL, along with Carlton Freeman of Eastaboga, AL, Ted Lackey of Munford, AL, Steve Kirk of Munford, AL, and Josh Adkins of Talladega, AL.

William Thomas of Phenix City, AL is the defending Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series Champion.  Other top drivers competing in the Chevy Super Series in 2013 were National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Inductee Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN, Matthew Turner of Dawsonville, GA, Brent Barrett of Cleveland, MS, Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL, David Brannon of Elora, TN, Brad Smith of Winston-Salem, NC, Frank Wilson of Milton, FL and Mark Dowdy of Waterloo, AL.

The Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series features dirt late model race cars powered by the economical all-aluminum Chevrolet Racing Engine that is based off the production Chevrolet LS Engine that comes in the Chevrolet Corvette, Chevrolet Camaro, and the Chevrolet SS that can be purchased at Chevrolet dealerships across the country. 

Chevrolet of Boaz will be the presenting sponsor for both 2014 Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series events at Talladega Short Track that will also feature the Chevrolet of Boaz Fan Zone where fans can get a close-up look at the race cars and meet the drivers before the racing action begins.

Talladega Short Track has played an important role in the development of the all-aluminum Chevrolet Racing Engine, as it was the first weekly dirt track in the country to embrace the engine as an economical alternative to specially built super late model engines costing four times more.
