NeSMITH PERFORMANCE PARTS STREET STOCK DIVISION FINAL 2013 ROUND UP 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

                CARTERSVILLE, GA – Brooks Strength of Byram, MS brought the curtain down on the inaugural season for the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division with his third win of the season on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS driving the Roofing With Strength Chevrolet powered by a $3,195 Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine.

                Trey Bright of Coker, AL is the 2013 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Champion with a best 14 week total of 693 points.  For the season, Bright drove the AKA Cores Chevrolet to nine wins, 18 top five finishes and 22 top ten finishes in a Division-leading 29 races. 

Bright and the rest of the Top 10 point drivers will be honored at the NeSmith Racing Annual Awards Banquet in January at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame in Dawsonville, GA.

Kevin Spears of Fayette, AL is the 2013 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Championship Runner-Up with a best 14 week total of 690 points.  Spears had seven wins, 18 top five finishes and a Division-leading 23 top ten finishes in 24 races on the season driving the Ross Desigz.com Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine.

Calvin Cook of Pace, FL will finish third in the 2013 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 672 points.  For the season, Cook had two wins, 17 top five finishes and 19 top ten finishes in 21 races driving the Foam Seal Insulation Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine.

Roger Flynn of Denham Springs, LA took the fourth spot in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 668 points.  Flynn had nine wins, 16 top five finishes and 21 top ten finishes in 23 races for the season driving the Flynn Racing Special. 

Adam Cheeks of Guntown, MS finishes fifth in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 659 points.  For the season, Cheeks drove the Flurry Motorsports Chevrolet to three wins, 11 top five finishes and 14 top ten finishes in 16 races.  Cheeks finished ninth on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway to net one point.

Dave Nations of Raymond, MS will take the sixth spot in the 2013 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 650 points.  For the season, Nations had one win, nine top five finishes and 13 top ten finishes in 15 races driving the Street Stock Set Up Specialists Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine.

Mark Barnett of Aberdeen, MS and Jeremy Flurry of Smithville, MS each turned in a season best 14 week total of 647 points, but Barnett won the tie-breaker with more wins to take the seventh spot in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings.

For the season, Barnett had four wins, nine top five finishes and 14 top ten finishes in 15 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division races driving the MC Construction Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine.

Flurry was able to net five points with a fifth-place finish on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in the Flurry Motorsports Chevrolet.  For the season, Flurry turned in one win, ten top five finishes and 12 top ten finishes in 15 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division races.

Brandon Leftwich of Meridian, MS finishes in the ninth spot in the 2013 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 637 points.  For the season, Leftwich had eight top five finishes and 17 top ten finishes in 21 races driving the American Portable Buildings Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine.

Eddie Willis of Saucier, MS rounds out the Top 10 in the 2013 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total 634 points.  For the season, Willis drove the Willis Racing Chevrolet to two wins, 14 top five finishes and 21 top ten finishes in 27 races.  Willis took the last point fund-paying spot by one point over Kevin Whittington of Brandon, MS.

The NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division was developed last winter to have a common set of the rules at NeSmith Racing sanctioned tracks where drivers could compete with drivers at other tracks for a National Point Fund through a common points system that counted their best 14 week point totals. 

The NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division rules also gave competitors an economical option of competing on level playing field against more expensive built engines with the $3,195 Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine that is built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications. 

The concept worked well, as five of the Top 10 in the 2013 points were built engines, and five were Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engines.  The NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division rules were also adopted by the Mississippi Street Stock Series.
