NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 27 PREVIEW

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CARTERSVILLE, GA – The final week of the 2014 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season has arrived, and although the top two spots in the point standings have been decided, there are still 12 drivers that will compete against each other in Week 27 competition to decide the third through tenth points fund-paying spots.

The 27th and final week of the 2014 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season, will see ten races at nine tracks this weekend.  All tracks could come into play in deciding the final Top 10 list of drivers that will receive a coveted invitation to the NeSmith Racing Annual Awards Banquet in January at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame in Dawsonville, GA to pick up a point fund check.

The Road To Dawsonville begins on Friday night at Salina Speedway in Salina, KS where there are three drivers competing for Top 10 spots in the point standings.  On Saturday night, 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN could be the key venue in deciding Top 10 positions, as they will host Double Feature Races that include a Week 24 Make-Up Race.

Also in action on Saturday night with NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 27 events will be Arkadelphia Speedway in Bremen, AL, Battleground Speedway in Highlands, TX, Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, 81 Speedway in Wichita, KS with a Week 25 Make-Up Race, Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS, St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.

Chris Holley of Dayton, TX has clinched the 2014 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Championship with a “Perfect Score” of 700 points represented by 14 fifty-point wins.  Holley is already On The Road To Dawsonville to pick up a $10,000 point fund check.

Holley still has some unfinished business to take care of in the final week of the season, as he shares three NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Career records with the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS, and he has the opportunity to take over the lead in one of those categories.

Like Holley, Daspit won the title last year with a perfect 700 point total.  Holley and Daspit will share the record for most consecutive wins in a season at seven.  Holley and Daspit are currently also tied for the most wins in a single season with 15 fifty-point victories.  Holley will be at his home track, Battleground Speedway, on Saturday night, looking for his record breaking 16th win of the season.

Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS is also On The Road To Dawsonville as the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Championship Runner-Up for the second straight year.  Palasini has a best 14 week total of 696 points.

After Holley and Palasini, it is a plethora of scenarios as to who is going to round up the Top 10 of the point standings.  Just 11 points separate the third through 11th spots in the points chase, and double features put three more drivers into the mix.

Delbert Smith of Wichita, KS is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings going into the final week of the season with a best 14 week total of 692 points.  Smith has an opportunity to dip into the point well twice this weekend at Salina Speedway on Friday night and 81 Speedway on Saturday night for the Week 25 Make-Up Race.  Smith can net on a 48 and a 49.  Two 50-point wins would bring Smith’s total up to 695 points.

Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 690 points and he can net on a 47 and a 48.  If Arnold wins at his home track on Saturday night at Hattiesburg Speedway, he would bring his season total to 693 points.  If he goes all in, travels to 411 Motor Speedway for Double Features and wins them both, Arnold’s season total would be 695 points.

Ryan King of Seymour, TN is fifth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 689 points, and he will try to net on a pair of 47s in the final week of the season.  King won’t have to travel far for Double Features, as they will be hosted by his home track, 411 Motor Speedway.  A pair of 50-point wins would bring King’s season total to 695.

Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL is a driver with a decision to make for the final week of the season as the fourth driver in the mix for the third spot.  Gauldin is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 688 points.

If Gauldin wins at his home track, Talladega Short Track, on Saturday night, he would net two points and bring his season total to 690 points.  If he goes all in by making the trip to 411 Motor Speedway on Saturday night, he could win both races and net on two 48s which would bring his season total to 692 points.  That would give him a mathematical opportunity for the third spot.

Rusty Ballenger of Sevierville, TN is seventh in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 686 points.  Ballenger will be at his home track, 411 Motor Speedway, on Saturday night to try and net on a pair of 48s.  Two 50-point wins would bring Ballenger’s season total to 690 points.

Daniel Bridgmon of Meridian, MS and Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS are tied for the eighth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings, as each driver has a best 14 week total of 682 points.  The closest venue to Bridgmon would be Hattiesburg Speedway on Saturday night, and Lee will have Hattiesburg Speedway and St. Tammany Raceway to choose from.

Bridgmon will try to net on a 47 with one win and bring his season total to 685 points.  If Bridgmon hits the road to Tennessee for double features, he could also try to net on a 48 and two wins would bring his season total to 687 points.  Lee can net on a 47 with one win, and net on another 47 with two wins if he makes the 411 Motor Speedway trip and a possible season total of 688 points.

Daspit and Chris Kratzer of Haysville, KS are tied for the tenth and final points fund-paying spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings.  Each driver has a best 14 week total of 681 points.  This one could get interesting, depending on what Daspit decided to do.

A 50-point win for Daspit would net on a 46 and bring his season total to 685 points.  A trip to Tennessee and a pair of wins at 411 Motor Speedway would net eight points for Daspit and a possible season total of 689 points and a trip to Dawsonville, GA for the Awards Banquet.

Kratzer will stay close to home and run at Salina Speedway on Friday night, and then run the Week 25 Make-Up race on Saturday night at 81 Speedway.  Kratzer will try to net on a pair of 47s and two 50-point wins would bring his season total to 687 points and a point fund check.

Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL, Darrick Klima of Belleville, KS, and Heath Minor of Ralph, AL can still get in the Top 10 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings, but all three will have to go to the points well twice in the final weeks of the season to get on The Road To Dawsonville.

Skinner is 12th in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 676 points, and the 13-year-old will be trying to net on a pair of 46s to get to the Awards Banquet.  Netting on one 46 with a 50-point win at his home track, Talladega Short Track, would give Skinner 680 points, which not good enough to make the Top 10.

Two 50 point wins in the double features at 411 Motor Speedway would give Skinner a season total 684 points, and an opportunity to land in the Top 10 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings.  It looks like a trip to Seymour, TN is in Skinner’s future on Saturday night.

Klima will compete for a Top 10 spot at Salina Speedway on Friday night, and at 81 Speedway in Saturday night.  Klima is tied with Skinner for the 12th spot in the standings with a best 14 week total of 676 points, and he can net on a pair of 46s.  Two 50-point wins for Klima in the final week of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season would bring his season total to 684 points and a chance to collect from the point fund.

Minor is 14th in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 669 points.  If Minor wins on Saturday night at his home track, Arkadelphia Speedway, he would net on a 41 and bring his season total to 678 points, not good enough to make the Top 10.  If he travels to 411 Motor Speedway on Saturday night and wins both features, he would net on a 41 and a 43, gain 16 points, and bring his season total to 685 points.

Since NeSmith Racing officials will be on the road this weekend working a Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series event, the points will not be tabulated until late Sunday evening, and posted Monday morning.

It will be interesting to see what decisions drivers will make in determining what tracks they will end up at, and how the points shake out to see who will be On The Road To Dawsonville and have a seat at the banquet table.
