NeSMITH CHEVROLET OLD MAN’S GARAGE WEEKLY RACING SERIES SEPTEMBER 16 ROUND UP

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

                CARTERSVILLE, GA – Although the battle for the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Championship is over, the battle for the second spot was decided during Week 25 competition.  The battles for the remaining eight spots in the Top 10 points fund-paying positions are still up for grabs with two weeks left in the 27-week season to decide it all.

                Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS is the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Champion with a perfect best 14 week total of 700 points which represents 14 50-point wins.  Daspit, who has no more points to earn, can now pack his bags and get ready to travel to Dawsonville, GA for the banquet where he will collect his $10,000 top prize.

                For the season, Daspit has series-leading a total of 15 wins, 27 top five finishes, and 30 top ten finishes in 33 races driving the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star.  As the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Champion, Daspit will also win a new Trak-Star chassis from Boland Performance of Cuba, AL.

                Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS and Daspit’s teammate Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS battled for the second spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series point standings in Week 24 action, and traded Week 25 wins.  Palasini clinched the second spot in the standings with a best 14 week total of 694 points, and holds a five point advantage over Lee.

                Palasini picked up his ninth win of the season on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS driving the MP Trucking Trak-Star.  Palasini’s win also clinched the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Championship for Trak-Star Race Cars. 

With the win, Palasini was able to net on a 47 and gain three points.  For the season, Palasini has nine wins and 15 top five finishes in 22 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series races.

                Lee took two NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 25 wins in the Billy Riels Racing GRT.  The first win came on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS, and the second win came on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA. 

The first win gained Lee two points as he netted on a 48.  Lee has a best 14 week total of 689 points after seven wins, 27 top five finishes and 30 top ten finishes in 34 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series races.  Since Lee will be trying to net on two 48s in the last two weeks of the season, he can earn a possible 693 points.

                Montana Dudley of Phenix City, AL is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 686 points after nine wins, 15 top five finishes and 17 top ten finishes in 17 races driving the Zaxby’s Rocket.  Dudley did not compete in Week 25 action.

                Cliff Williams of Star, MS moved up to the fifth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings after a second-place finish on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park driving the Star Plumbing Trak-Star.  Williams netted on a 41 to gain eight points, and bring his best 14 week total to 677 points after four wins, 16 top five finishes and 19 top ten finishes in 24 races.

                Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS drove The Strength Center Trak-Star to a pair of third-place finishes on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park and on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS to jump from eighth to sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series point standings.

                Arnold netted on a 41to gain seven points and bring his best 14 week total to 675 points.  For the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series season Arnold has six wins, 15 top five finishes and 18 top ten finishes in 26 races.

                Jeff Glisson of Boaz, KY did not compete in NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 25 action and fell from fifth to seventh in the point standings.  Glisson has a best 14 week total of 673 points after three wins, 12 top five finishes and 15 top ten finishes in 19 races driving the SGR Rocket.

                Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS drove the Villa South Trak-Star to a fifth-place finish on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park.  Scarbrough was unable to net any points trying to net on a 46, and dropped to eighth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 669 points after two wins, 15 top five finishes and 26 top ten finishes in a series-leading 35 races.

                Robby Moore of Brosley, MO remains in the ninth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 668 points after one win, 15 top five finishes and 23 top ten finishes in 23 races.  Moore was unable to net on a 46 after driving the Custom Race Cars Trak-Star to an eighth-place finish on Saturday night at West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO.

                Ronnie Cooper of McKenzie, TN did not compete in NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 25 action, but remains tenth with a best 14 total of 665 points.  Cooper has one win, 12 top five finishes and 15 top ten finishes in 16 races driving the Ronnie Cooper Trucking Rocket.

                In other NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 25 action, Gavin Landers of Batesville, AR drove the Mark Martin Automotive Rocket to his third win of the season on Friday night at Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR.  Bobby Skinner of Moody, MO picked up his second win of the season on Saturday night at West Plains Motor Speedway driving the Classy Chassis Auto Restoration Rocket.

                Evan Ellis of Plantersville, MS grabbed his fourth NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS in the Ellis Welding Special.  Daniel Bridgmon of Meridian, MS took his second win of the season in the Robinson Electric Supply Special on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park.

                Bryan Bernhardt of Clearwater, FL took his first win of the season on Saturday night at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, FL driving the Bernhardt Racing Special.  Craig Turner of Flomaton, AL drove the Turner Racing GRT to his first NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL.

                The Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 25 race at Battleground Speedway in Highlands, TX was rained out.

Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL is now a three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion, as Palasini gave them their 49th win of the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series season. 

Four-time NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR is in the second spot in the Chassis Manufactures Challenge standings after two wins from Lee and one from Turner gave them their 27th, 28th and 29th victories of the season.  Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV is third with 27 wins after victories from Landers and Skinner.

Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN is fourth seven wins.  Also participating in the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge and still looking for their first wins are Stinger Race Cars built by J.T. Kerr Racing Equipment of Rockford, TN, TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN, and CVR Race Cars of Lenoir City, TN.
