NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 24 PREVIEW

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CARTERSVILLE, GA – The Labor Holiday Weekend that makes up Week 24 of the 27-week 2015 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season will be a busy one, as drivers will have three opportunities to earn points and one opportunity to get an early start on Week 25 competition.  From Friday through Monday, there will be eight races in five different states.

The Week 24 action begins on Friday night with races at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS and at Salina Speedway in Salina, KS.  Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition will be highlighted by a $1,000-to-win race at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS.

The Southern Crate Late Model Series will co-sanction a NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 24 $1,000-to-win race on Saturday night at 171 Speedway in Leesville, LA, and then on Sunday night at Golden Triangle Raceway in Beaumont, TX.  Sunday night Week 24 races will also be held at 81 Speedway in Wichita, KS and Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 25 competition will begin on Monday night with a special $1,000-to-win NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series race at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL.

Even though Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS has clinched the $10,000 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Championship for 2015, there are still several drivers in a tight battle for the nine remaining points fund-paying positions and a seat at the Annual NeSmith Racing Awards Banquet in January at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame and Thunder Road Museum in Dawsonville, GA.

With four weeks left in the 27-week NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series 2015 season, just nine points separate second through fifth in the point standings.  There are also drivers  currently outside the Top 10 of the point standings that are still earning full points and have a chance to race their way into the Top 10.

Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL is second in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 total of 289 points.  The 14-year-old driver also continues to lead the Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series point standings for NeSmith Late Model drivers 18 years of age and younger.

Skinner will be trying to net on a 47 this weekend to increase his season point total.  That means he has to finish third or better to net at least one point in his best 14 week point total.  The Top 15 drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings are currently netting points.

Robbie Starnes of Livingston, TX is third in the standings with a best 14 week total of 685 points, and he will be trying to net on a 48.  That means Starnes has to finish second or better to earn any points.  Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 684 points, and looking to net on a 41.  If Palasini finishes eighth of better, he will net points on his season total.

The 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS is fifth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 280 points and he will be trying to net on a 45.  Daspit needs a top five finish to net points.  Greg Fore of Greenville, MS is sixth in the standings with a best 14 week total of 675 points, and trying to net on a 45.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is seventh in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 672 points, and he will be trying to net on a 46.  The NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series point leader Joseph Joiner of Milton, FL is eighth in the National standings with a best 14 week total of 668 points, and he will also be looking to net on a 46.

Cole Daffron of Pell City, AL is ninth in the standings with a best 14 week total of 654 points, and the 17-year-old Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series second-place driver will be looking to net on a 45.  Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS rounds out the Top 10 in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 649 points, and he will be looking to net on a 41.

Two drivers outside the Top 10 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings have a good opportunity to race their way into a points-fund paying position.  Kevin Sitton of Baytown, TX is 18th in the standings with 577 points, and Adam Cummings of Odenville, AL is 19th with 569 points.  Both drivers still have two more weeks to earn full points.

Sitton has won six straight NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series events and will be looking to tie and possibly even breaking the current single-season record for consecutive wins at seven set last year by the 2014 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Chris Holley of Dayton, TX.

The 2015 Champ Arnold also has an opportunity to break a single season Weekly Racing Series record by winning at his seventh different track this season.  Arnold currently shares that record with the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Chase Washington of Houlka, MS.  Arnold holds the record for most wins in a season at 18.

Drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series will compete against each other nationally using a points system that will count their best 14 weekly point totals over a 27-week season from March 23 through September 27.  The $20,000 National point fund will pay $10,000 to the National Champion and pay back to the Top 10 drivers in the final point standings.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competitors have the option of two different economical Chevrolet Performance Circle Track Engines to compete with.  The aluminum-head 400 horsepower 604 engine costs $5,795 and the steel-head 350 horsepower Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine with a 100-pound weight break costs $3,495.

Both of these Chevrolet Performance Racing Engines are in stock and available at NeSmith Chevrolet in Claxton, GA with free next day delivery anywhere in the Southeast.  To place an order, call Tim Bland at 1-877-497-3624.
