NeSMITH CHEVROLET OLD MAN’S GARAGE WEEKLY RACING SERIES AUGUST 26 ROUND UP

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS drove the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star to his 13th NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Model win on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS.  With that victory, Daspit has the key in the lock, and all he has to do is turn it to lock up the $10,000 Championship.

Daspit was able to net two points with the victory and gain two points.  That brings his best 14 week total to 698 points, two points away from a perfect 14 week point total of 700.  Along with the series-leading 13 wins, Daspit also has a series-leading 23 top five finishes and 25 top ten finishes in 28 races.

Only one other driver has a mathematical chance to beat Daspit for the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series $10,000 National Championship, and that is Montana Dudley of Phenix City, AL, who stayed alive with his own victory Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL driving the Zaxby’s Rocket.

Dudley is second in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 686 points.  Dudley has nine wins, with eight of them 50-point wins, 15 top five finishes and 17 top ten finishes in 17 races.  If Dudley wins out for the remaining five weeks of the season, he can earn a possible 699 points.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Championship could be decided as early as this weekend.  If Daspit takes a 50-point win this weekend, he’s the Champion.  If Dudley doesn’t take a 50-point win this weekend, Daspit is the Champion.  If Dudley takes a 50-point win, and Daspit doesn’t win, the Championship battle goes on to Week 24.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS finished second to his teammate Daspit on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in the Billy Riels Racing GRT to move back up to the third spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings by netting on a 47 and gaining two points.  Lee has a best 14 week total of 683 points with three wins, 22 top five finishes and 25 top ten finishes in 28 races.

Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS failed to net any points in NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 22 competition and dropped to the fourth spot in the standings with a best 14 week total of 682 points.  Palasini has seven wins and 13 top five finishes in 19 races driving the MP Trucking Trak-Star.
