1ST VISIT TO KY LAKE MOTOR SPEEDWAY NEXT FOR NeSMITH LATE MODELS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CARTERSVILLE, GA – The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division will make its first-ever visit to Kentucky Late Motor Speedway in Calvert City, KY for a pair of 50-lap $2,500-to-win races this Friday night and this Saturday night, Rounds 16 and 17 of the 2015 season.  There will be a $1,000 Bonus to win both races for a possible $6,000 weekend payday.

Both the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series and Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway have set new standards for dirt late model racing.

When Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway was built in the mid-1990s, it was called the Taj Mahal of American Dirt Tracks with its modern facilities that set new standards for American dirt tracks.  For the past 11 years, the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series has set new standards for economical dirt late model racing and close competition.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series uses the economical Chevrolet Performance 604 Circle Track Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications.  The NeSmith Racing Technical Department closely scrutinizes these engines through a network of Authorized Rebuilders, its own sealing system, and an extensive database of technical information.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series was the first sanctioning body to develop a driver feeder system with the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series for weekly dirt tracks across the country.  Several of the top drivers competing in the Touring Division this season have come from the Weekly Racing Series.

For the 2015 season, not a single driver has dominated the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series.  In 15 races, there have been 13 different winners with only two drivers winning two races.  Those two drivers, John Ownby of Cleveland, TN and Ryan King of Seymour, TN won their pair of victories back-to-back.

If Ownbey, King, or another driver can pull that trick off this Friday night and Saturday night at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway, they will pick up the $1,000 Bonus.  There have been 13 different drivers to set fast time this season with only two drivers taking that honor twice.

In the first 15 races of the 2015 season, there have been 20 different drivers that have led laps and there have been 20 lead changes.  At the majority of the races this season, less than one second has separated the fastest driver in qualifying to the slowest driver.

There have been 208 races held in the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series since its inception in 2005, and there have been 75 different race winners, 86 different fast qualifiers, and 112 different lap leaders.  The defending and two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Champion Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN is the career leader in race wins at 26, and has led the most career laps at 665.

Johnson is trying to become the first driver in series history to win three consecutive Championships.  The National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Inductee will arrive at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway with a 98-point lead over King, who is also the Cruise With The Champions Rookie of the Year point leader, has a four-point lead over the third-place driver, Chase Edge of LaFayette, AL.

Also included in the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series top competitors headed to the Bluegrass State this weekend include Matt Henderson of Loudon, TN, and Ryan Crane of Panama City, FL, who are both in a tight battle with King for the 2015 Cruise With Champions Rookie of the Year honors, and are fourth and fifth respectively in the point standings.

Also expected this weekend are NeSmith Late Model drivers Marcus Minga of Shannon, MS, Rodgerick Dykes of Smith Station, AL, Michael Blount of Sumrall, MS, Todd Morrow of East Ridge, TN, Chris Wilson of Crossville, TN, and Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series driver 13-year-old Will Roland of Jasper, GA.

There will be a strong contingent of local favorites on hand to take on the NeSmith Late Model regulars that include Tait Davenport of Benton, KY, Ronnie Cooper of McKenzie, TN, Ricky Waggoner of Martin, TN, and Ashley Newman of Ripley, TN, and Troy English of Calvert City, KY.

On Friday, the pit gate opens at 1 p.m. and on Saturday, the pit gate opens at 12 noon.  Each day, NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Pre-Race Registration and Technical Inspection will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.  The Drivers Meeting is set for 5 p.m. and Hot Laps are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. with racing to follow.

Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway is located at the intersection of I-24 and I-69.  The physical address is 957 Truck Plaza Lane, Calvert City, KY.  For more information call 270-395-7223, or visit the track web site at www.kylakespeedway.com.  You can also like them on Facebook at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway.
