NeSMITH PERFORMANCE PARTS STREET STOCK DIVISION ROUND UP FOR AUGUST 13

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 20 for the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division was a “set up” week in the upcoming seven week drive for the championship, as drivers have begun to position themselves for a run at the title.  Kevin Spears of Fayette, AL and Trey Bright of Coker remain one-two in the point standings.

The coming weeks should show some fast company getting close to Spears and Bright, as drivers behind them in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division point standings continue to earn full points before reaching the 14 week mark of their seasons.

Spears is still the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division point leader, even though he did not net any points in Week 20 competition.  Spears needed a top five finish to gain any points, and he finished sixth on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL in the rossdesignz.com Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine.

Spears has a best 14 week total of 685 points with seven wins, 14 top five finishes and 18 top ten finishes in 19 races.  Spears has a five point lead over Bright, who also failed to net any points in Week 20 action after a 19th-place finish on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS driving the AKA Cores Chevrolet.

Bright needed a seventh-place finish or better to gain any points over the weekend.  Bright has 680 points with seven wins, 14 top five finishes and 16 top ten finishes in 19 races.  Bright has a 30-point advantage over the third-place driver in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings, Dave Nations of Raymond, MS.

Nations reached the 14 week mark on his season on Saturday night with a tenth-place finish at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS driving the Street Stock Set Up Specialists Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine.  Nations has 630 points after one win, nine top five finishes and 13 top ten finishes in 15 races.
