CHEVY SUPER SERIES HEADS TO THE BAD FAST TAZ FOR ROUND 3 ON SATURDAY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

                CARTERSVILLE, GA – America’s first “Factory Backed and Factory Built” dirt late model series, The Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series, heads to Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN this Saturday night for the $3,000-to-win $300-to-start West Chevrolet 50 that is Round 3 of the 10-race 2013 season that pays a $30,000 point fund to the Top 10 drivers. 

Known as the Bad Fast Taz, Tazewell Speedway is a ¼-mile high banked clay oval that is well suited for the all-aluminum Chevrolet Racing Engine that powers the dirt late models in the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series.  Point leader William Thomas of Phenix City, AL will be looking for his third-straight series win in his quest of the $10,000 Championship.

With victories in the first two Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL on August 2 and at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL on August 3, Thomas has accumulated 200 points, and has a 12-point over National Dirt Late Model Series Hall of Fame Inductee Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN and Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL.

Johnson and Edge will roll into Tazewell Speedway this Saturday night for the West Chevrolet 50 tied for the second spot in the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series standings with 188 points apiece.  Johnson finished second at Penton Raceway and fourth at East Alabama Motor Speedway, while Edge raced to a pair of third-place finishes.

Tim Busha is fourth in the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series with 180 points.  Busha will arrive at Tazewell Speedway this Saturday night looking for the victory that got away.  After finishing fourth at Penton Raceway, Busha was leading the East Alabama Motor Speedway race with seven laps to go and cut down a right-rear tire.  After changing the tire, Busha rallied back for a sixth-place finish.

David Brannon of Elora, TN has put together finishes in the first two races of fifth at Penton Raceway and seventh at East Alabama Motor Speedway is hold the fifth position in the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series standings with 176 points.  Matthew Turner of Dawsonville, GA is sixth in the standings with 172 points after a sixth and an eight-place finish in the first two races.

Brett Barrett of Cleveland, MS is seventh in the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series standings with 170 points after a fifth-place finish at Penton Raceway and a tenth-place finish at EAMS.  The father and son duo of Ross Martin and Adam Martin are eighth and ninth respectively in the standings.

Ross Martin of Talladega, AL, who won the Icebowl in January at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL with his all-aluminum Chevrolet Racing Engine, is ninth in the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series standings with 164 points.  Ross Martin’s son Adam Martin of Talladega, AL is tied with Frank Wilson of Milton, FL for the ninth spot in the standings with 158 points.

Also expected to be at Tazewell Speedway this Saturday night with their super dirt late models powered by the all-aluminum Chevrolet Racing Engines for the West Chevrolet 50 are Brad Smith of Winston-Salem, NC, Carlton Freeman of Eastaboga, AL, Richie Stephens of Phenix City, AL, Mark Dowdy of Waterloo, AL, and local favorite Brad Hall of Knoxville, TN.

Race fans are encouraged to get to Tazewell Speedway early to meet the drivers of the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series at an Autograph Session at the front gate of Tazewell Speedway from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. 

Early arriving race fans for the West Chevrolet 50 can see the race cars and the new all-aluminum Chevrolet Racing Engines that is based on the Chevrolet LS Engine that comes in the Chevrolet Corvette, Chevrolet Camaro, and the Chevrolet SS that are on the showroom floor of West Chevrolet, located on the famous Airport Motor Mile in Alcoa, TN.

The pit gate will open at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Tazewell Speedway, and Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series Pre-Race Registration and Technical Inspection will be from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.  The Drivers Meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. with hot laps to follow.
