NeSMITH PERFORMANCE PARTS STREET STOCK DIVISION ROUND UP FOR AUGUST 4

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

                CARTERSVILLE, GA – The battle for the 2013 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Championship tightened up after Week 19 competition, as five points now separate point leader Kevin Spears of Fayette, AL and second-place Trey Bright of Coker, AL.  As they have since the beginning of the season, the top two drivers appear to be taking the title right down to the wire.

                Spears finished second on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS driving the Bass Sports Online Chevrolet powered by a $3,195 Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine to net on a 44 and gain the five points that are the difference between him and the second-place NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division driver Bright.

                On Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS, Bright picked up his seventh NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division win of the season in the AKA Cores Chevrolet to net on a 41, and gain nine points on the point leader Spears.

                Spears has a best 14 week total of 685 points with seven wins, 14 top five finishes and a series leading 17 top ten finishes in 18 races.  Bright has a best 14 week total of 680 points with seven wins, 14 top five finishes and 16 top ten finishes in 19 races.  Bright has a 59 point advantage over the third-place NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division driver Wayne Medders of Morton, MS.

                Medders finished eighth on Saturday night in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division race at Whynot Motorsports Park to net on a 41 and gain two points.  Medders has a best 14 week total of 621 points after four top five finishes and 12 top ten finishes in 19 races driving the Medders Construction Chevrolet.

                Brandon Leftwich of Meridian, MS moved up to the fourth spot in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division point standings after a seventh-place finish on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park to net on a 25 and gain 19 points.  Leftwich has a best 14 week total of 618 points after five top five finishes and 12 top ten finishes in 15 races driving the American Portable Buildings Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine.

                Dave Nations of Raymond, MS did not compete in NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Week 19 competition and dropped to fifth in the standings with 609 points.  Nations has one win, nine top five finishes and 12 top ten finishes in 14 races over 13 weeks driving the Street Stock Set-Up Specialists Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine.

                Chad Hiers of Ocean Springs, MS finished outside the top ten on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in the Hiers Construction Chevrolet, but earned 41 points to net on a 25.  Hiers has a best 14 week total of 601 points and is sixth in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division  standings after nine top five finishes and 12 top ten finishes in 17 races.

                Charles Coan of Danville, AL is seventh in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 588 points after eight top ten finishes in 14 races.  Coan reached the 14 week mark of his season on Saturday night at Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, AL with a 41-point 11th-place finish in the Coan Racing Chevrolet.

                Eddie Willis of Saucier, MS is eighth in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with 575 points after 2 wins, 12 top five finishes and 16 top ten finishes in 18 races over 13 weeks.  Willis finished fifth on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park driving the Willis Racing Chevrolet.

                Roger Flynn of Denham Springs, LA finished second on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in the Flynn Racing Chevrolet, and is ninth in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with 572 points.  Flynn has a series-leading eight wins, 13 top five finishes and 14 top ten finishes in 15 races over 12 weeks.

                Bobby Joe Robinson of Falkville, AL rounds out the Top 10 in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with 510 points after two wins, seven top five finishes and nine top ten finishes in 13 races over 13 weeks driving the Robinson’s Backhoe Service Chevrolet.  Robinson finished seventh on Saturday night at Green Valley Speedway.

                In other NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Week 19 action, Greg Chumley of Attalla, AL drove the Vinson Racing Engines Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine to his third win of the season on Saturday night at Green Valley Speedway. 

Kendall Keating of Lacombe, LA took his first NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division win on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA driving the Keating Racing Special.  Chad Thrash of Meridian, MS was another first-time winner on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park driving the Shade Tree Racing Ford. 

Whynot Motorsports Park did not report the results of the their Week 18 Make-Up race on Saturday night.  The Saturday night NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Week 19 race schedule for Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL was rained out.
