NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 18 ROUND UP

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Chris Holley is now three wins away from a “Perfect Season” in 2014 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition.  Holley not only took his 11th NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win on Saturday night at Battleground Speedway in Highlands, TX driving the Land Bridge Transportation Special, but it was who he beat that made it special.

Holley outran the defending NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS, who finished second in the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star at Battleground Speedway on Saturday night.  Daspit won the $10,000 title last season with a 14 win “Perfect Season.”

Holley now has 11 wins in 13 races, and in the two races he didn’t win, he finished second.  In one of those races earlier in the season, Holley finished second to Daspit.  Now they are even.  Will there be a best two out of three encounter this season?  There are still nine weeks left in the 27-week NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series to find out.

While Holley and Daspit battled in Texas, NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point leader Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL was taking care of business at his home track, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, on Saturday night where he drove the Adam Gauldin Racing GRT to his fourth win of the season.

Gauldin has able to net seven points and bring his best 14 week total to 674 points after four wins, 13 top five finishes and 17 top ten finishes in 18 races.  Gauldin will now be trying to net on a 45 in his next NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series event.

Daniel Bridgmon of Meridian, MS hit the road in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 18 competition, and collected a second-place finish on Saturday night at Arkadelphia Speedway in Bremen, AL in his final race of the season to earn full points and reaching the 14 week mark of his season.

That moved Bridgmon up to the second spot in the standings with a best 14 week total of 669 points after three wins, 14 top five finishes and 15 top ten finishes in 17 races.  Bridgmon will now be trying to net on a 41 in his next NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series race.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS finished third on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS to net seven points, but dropped to third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 664 points after four wins, 16 top five finishes and 20 top ten finishes.  Lee will now be trying to net on a 43 in his next race.

Daspit’s second-place finish earned him 49 points in his 14th week of racing to bring his season total to 659 points and climb up to the fourth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings.  Daspit has five wins, 12 top five finishes, and 15 top ten finishes in 16 races.  Daspit will now be trying to net on a 41 in his next race.

Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL finished second on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track driving the Skinner’s Body Shop Special and was able to net eight points to bring his best 14 week season total to 652 points after three wins, nine top five finishes and 14 top ten finishes in 20 races.  The 12-year-old sensation is fifth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings.

Holley’s 11th win of the season left him sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 648 points and one more week to earn full points.  Another 50-point win would bring his season total to 698 points, two points away from a perfect point total of 700 points.

Heath Minor of Ralph, AL is seventh in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 621 points and one week to earn full points before reaching the 14 week mark of his season.  Minor has six wins, 11 top five finishes and 13 top ten finishes in 14 races.  Minor finished eighth on Saturday night at Arkadelphia Speedway in the Mike Minor’s Auto Repair Warrior.
