NeSMITH PERFORMANCE PARTS STREET STOCK DIVISION ROUND UP FOR JULY 22

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

                CARTERSVILLE, GA – NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Week 17 competition saw the point lead change hands once again with Kevin Spears of Fayette, AL now holding a three-point lead over Trey Bright of Coker, AL.  Mark Barnett of Aberdeen, MS and Greg Chumley of Attalla, AL picked up Week 17 victories.

                Spears finished sixth on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS to net 19 points on his best 14 weekly finishes to bring his NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division point total to 674.  Bright finished second on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway to net eight points and bring his best 14-week point total to 671.

                In 16 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division races, Spears has six wins, 12 top five finishes and 15 top ten finishes driving the Bass Sports Online Chevrolet powered by a $3,195 Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine.  Bright has six wins, 13 top five finishes and 15 top ten finishes in 17 races driving the AKA Cores Chevrolet.

                Wayne Medders of Morton, MS posted a 41-point finish outside the top ten Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway to reach the 14-week mark in his season ranked third in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with 616 points.  Medders has four top five finishes and ten top ten finishes in 17 races driving the Medders Construction Chevrolet.

                Dave Nations of Raymond, MS did not race in NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Week 17 competition and dropped to fourth in the standings with 609 points.  Nations has one win, nine top five finishes and 12 top ten finishes in 14 events over 13 weeks of racing with one more week to earn full points in the Street Stock Set Up Specialists Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine.

                Brandon Leftwich of Meridian, MS also had a 41-point finish outside the top ten on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway and reached the 14-week mark of his season with 599 points for the fifth spot in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings.  Leftwich has five top five finishes and 11 top ten finishes in 14 races driving the American Portable Buildings Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine.

                Chad Hiers of Ocean Springs, MS did not race in Week 17 competition, but remains sixth in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with 539 points.  Hiers has eight top five finishes and 11 top ten finishes in 15 races over 13 weeks with one more week to earn full points driving the Hiers Construction Chevrolet.

                Charles Coan of Danville, AL drove the Coan Racing Chevrolet to a sixth-place finish on Saturday night at Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, AL to move up to the seventh spot in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with 506 points.  Coan has eight top ten finishes in 12 races over 12 weeks of competition with two more weeks to earn full points.

                Eddie Willis of Saucier, MS, Roger Flynn of Denham Springs, LA, and Keith Coan of Town Creek, AL did not race in Week 17 competition, but remain in the Top 10 of the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings in the eighth, ninth, and tenth spots respectively.

                Willis has 484 points after two NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division wins, 11 top five finishes and 14 top ten finishes in 15 events over 11 weeks of racing with three more weeks to earn full points driving the Willis Racing Chevrolet.  Flynn has 474 points with a series-leading eight wins, 11 top five finishes and 12 top ten finishes in 13 races over 10 weeks of competition with four more weeks to earn full points driving the Flynn Racing Chevrolet. 

Keith Coan has 461 points after one NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division win, seven top five finishes and nine top ten finishes in 11 events over 11 weeks of racing with three more weeks to earn full points driving the Bishop Body Shop Chevrolet.

Barnett picked up his second NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division win of the season on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway driving the MC Construction Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine.  Chumley also took his second win of the season on Saturday night at Green Valley Speedway driving the Vinson Race Engines Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine.

Rain washed out two NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Week 17 races on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS and on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.  A total of 216 different drivers have earned points in the first 16 weeks of NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division competition.
