BRAD SMITH HIRED AS CPSLMS TOUR DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CARTERSVILLE, GA – America’s first “Factory Backed and Factory Built” dirt late model series, the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series, has hired Brad Smith of Winston-Salem, NC as the Tour Development Manager.  Smith will be the liaison among the series, the tracks, the local GM dealers at each venue, and the community.

Smith has been involved in motorsports from many aspects as a competitor, announcer, and manufacturer.  He is best known as “Bad Brad,” the announcer from America’s first motorsports reality program “Madhouse” that aired on the History Channel in 2010.

“I am looking forward to working with the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series and promoting its innovative concept of being Factory Backed and Factory Built to both the fans and the GM dealers,” Smith said.  “I also am looking forward to getting out into the communities of the series venues and promoting the series at schools and community centers.”

The Chevrolet Super Late Model Series is a new and unique racing series, as the race cars will be powered by the Chevrolet Performance CT 525 Engine that is based off the LS production engine that comes in the Chevrolet Corvette, Camaro, and SS.  The $7,000 all-aluminum engine is built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications.

It is this concept that Smith will be selling to GM Dealerships and the communities around the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series events, as the series will be bringing the sport back to a “Win On Sunday, Sell On Monday” theme.

“I will be going out into the community in an effort to make new fans, and show them they can buy a car with the same engine that is in our race cars,” Smith said.  “I will also be working with the youth in an effort make some new fans for the sport.  It will be my job to make the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series the most fan friendly series ever.”

As a competitor, Smith began racing Go-Karts in 1983 and accumulated over 300 wins and seven National Championships.  He began his stock car racing career on the asphalt competing at Bowman-Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, NC in the Mini Stock Division before moving into the NASCAR Modified Tour where he was the Rookie of the Year in 2003.

In 2004, Smith hung up his helmet after getting married and starting a family, but he stayed in racing by taking the job as track announcer at Bowman-Gray Stadium.  In 2010, Smith grabbed his helmet off the shelf for an opportunity to attend a dirt track driving school, and he was hooked again.

Smith revived his driving career in 2011 competing in a dirt late model powered by the $5,000 Chevrolet Performance 604 Crate Engine and won six events that season.  In addition to his off-track duties with the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series, Smith will also compete in all of the races this season.

Smith will also field a car for the 2010 UMP Late Model National Champion and two-time ALMS Champion Rusty Schlenk of McClure, OH for three Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series events.

In addition to his duties with the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series, Smith also works with Velocita Custom Driving Suits that are worn by several competitors in motorsports.  Velocita is also a sponsor of the CPSLMS’s sister series, the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series.

“With the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series being America’s first Factory Backed and Factory Built dirt late model series, we have a very unique concept to present to the tracks, the fans, the local GM dealers, and the community,” Series Founder and Director Mike Vaughn said.  “We’re excited to have Brad as our Tour Development Manager because we feel he has what it takes to bring everyone together in a way that will benefit everyone.”

The 2013 Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series will open on August 2 at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL, and then move to East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL on August 3 for a pair of $3,000-to-win races.
