NeSMITH PERFORMANCE PARTS STREET STOCK DIVISION ROUND UP FOR JULY 1

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

                CARTERSVILLE, GA – The top two drivers in the point standings picked up wins in Week 14 action for the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division.  Victories by point leader Trey Bright of Coker, AL and second-place Kevin Spears of Fayette, AL kept the point spread at 12 points at the halfway point of the 2013 season.

Bright drove the AKA Cores Chevrolet to his sixth win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL and Spears, on the night before his 31st birthday, got win number five of the season on Saturday night at Moulton Speedway in Moulton, AL driving the Bass Sports Online Chevrolet powered by a $3,195 Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine.

                The NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division point leader Bright now has 617 points after six wins, 11 top five finishes, and 13 top ten finishes in 15 races over 13 weeks.  Spears has 605 points after five wins, 11 top five finishes and 13 top ten finishes in 14 races over 13 weeks.  Both Bright and Spears have one more weeks to earn full points before hitting the 14 week mark.

                Once a driver hits the 14-week mark of competition, they begin netting points by trying to replace the lowest weekly point total in their best 14 week point totals with a higher one.  A driver’s best 14-week point totals count towards their season total in the 27-week NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division season.

                Dave Nations of Raymond, MS finished third on Saturday night in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division race at Jackson Motor Speedway and remains third in the standings with 568 points. 

Nations has one win, nine top five finishes and 12 top ten finishes in 13 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division races over 12 weeks driving the Street Stock Set Up Specialists Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine.

                Wayne Medders of Morton, MS finished sixth on Friday night in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division race at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS driving the Medders Construction Chevrolet.  Medders is fourth in the standings with 534 points after four top five finishes and ten top ten finishes in 15 races over 12 weeks.

                Brandon Leftwich of Meridian, MS drove the American Portable Buildings Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine to a sixth-place finish on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway.  Leftwich is fifth in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with 514 points after five top five finishes, and ten top ten finishes in 12 races over 12 weeks.

                Chad Hiers of Ocean Springs, MS is sixth in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with 498 points after eight top five finishes and 11 top ten finishes in 14 races over 12 weeks.  Hiers finished fifth on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA driving the Hiers Construction Chevrolet.

                Eddie Willis of Saucier, MS has the seventh spot in the standings with 434 points after one win, nine top five finishes, and 12 top ten finishes in 13 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division races over ten weeks.  Willis finished second on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway in the Willis Racing Chevrolet.

                Roger Flynn of Denham Springs, LA picked up his series-leading eighth NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division win on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway driving the Flynn Racing Chevrolet.  Flynn is eighth in the standings with 433 points after eight wins, ten top five finishes and 11 top ten finishes in 11 races over nine weeks.

                Keith Coan of Town Creek, AL is ninth in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with 419 points after one win, seven top five finishes and eight top ten finishes in ten races over ten weeks.  Coan finished sixth on Saturday night at Moulton Speedway driving the Bishop Body Shop Chevrolet.

                Charles Coan of Danville, AL rounds out the Top 10 of the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with 418 points.  Charles Coan has six top ten finishes in ten races over ten weeks driving the Coan Racing Chevrolet.

                In other NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Week 14 action, there were three first-time winners.  Michael Williams of Saucier, MS drove the Williams Race Cars Oldsmobile to victory on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park. 

                David Williamson of Jackson, MS took his first NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division win of the season on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in the Williamson Racing Special.  Jeremy Flurry of Aberdeen, MS was the winner on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS driving the Flurry Motorsports Chevrolet.

                Week 15 action for the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division gets started early this week with racing on Wednesday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.  The rest of the Week 15 schedule will outlined along with a look at driver Weekly Point Averages on Thursday in the Preview.
