NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 14 PREVIEW

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 14 of the 27-week NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season has arrived, and it marks not only the halfway point of the season, but also the final week for three of the top four drivers in the point standings to earn full points before they start netting points in their 15th week of the season.  This weekend there are 15 races on the schedule in nine states.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 14 action gets underway on Friday night with four races to be contested at Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR, Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS, a South Eastern Crate Series co-sanctioned race at Northwest Florida Speedway in Baker, FL, and at Salina Speedway in Salina, KS.

Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 14 event will be highlighted by a $1,000-to-win race at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN, and a race co-sanctioned by the South Eastern Crate Series at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL.

Other Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 14 events are scheduled for Arkadelphia Speedway in Bremen, AL, Battleground Speedway in Highlands, TX, Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS, Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS, Penton Raceway in Penton, AL, Poplar Bluff Speedway in Poplar Bluff, MO, St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.

Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL is the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point leader with a total of 620 points earned in 15 races over 13 weeks.  Gauldin has one more week to earn full points before he starts netting points.  For instance, right now the lowest weekly point total among the 13 he has is a 43.  A 50-point win for Gauldin in Week 15 would net him seven points.

Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL is second in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 584 points earned in 16 races over 13 weeks.  The 12-year-old sensation also has one more week to earn full points.  Skinner’s lowest weekly point total is 41, so a 50-point win would net him nine points.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS will be looking to gain some ground on Gauldin and Skinner in the coming weeks, as he is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 549 points earned in 17 races over 12 weeks of racing.  Lee has two more weeks to earn full points.

Doug Sanchagrin of Florence, MS is the third driver in the top four of the standings that will compete in his 14th week of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition.  Sanchagrin is fourth in the standings with 546 points earned in 14 races over 13 weeks.  Sanchagrin’s lowest weekly point total is a 25, so a 50-point win after his 14th week of competition could net him 25 points.

Daniel Bridgmon of Meridian, MS is fifth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 523 points earned in 13 races over 11 weeks of competition.  Mike Combs of Odenville, AL is sixth with 498 points earned in 12 races over 11 weeks of racing.

The defending NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS is seventh in the standings with 479 points earned in 11 races over ten weeks of competition.  Heath Minor of Ralph, AL is eighth in the standings with 478 points earned in 11 races over ten weeks.

Justin Angle of Anniston, AL is ninth in the standings with 466 points earned in 12 races over 11 weeks.  Sid Scarbrough of Florence, AL rounds out the Top 10 in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 459 points earned in 15 races over 11 weeks of competition.

There are several legitimate NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series contenders for the $10,000 top prize that goes to the National Champion at the end of the season.  Some are in the Top 10 of the point standings, and some are in the second ten of the points chase.  The best gauge to determine who to watch in the coming weeks is the Weekly Point Average, or the WPA.

Chris Holley of Dayton, TX is 11th in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 449 points earned over nine weeks of racing.  In nine races this season, Holley has eight wins and one second-place finish.  So, who beat Holley in the race he didn’t win?  The defending champ Daspit.  Something to keep in mind as the second half of the season unfolds.

Holley has the highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings at 49.89 out of a possible 50.  Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS is not that far behind Holley with the second highest WPA at 48.67.  Palasini is 12th in the point standings with 438 points earned in ten races over nine weeks.

Adam Beeler of Knoxville, TN has the third highest WPA at 48.11.  Beeler is 14th in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 433 points earned in nine races over nine weeks.  Daspit has the fourth highest WPA at 47.9, and Minor has the fifth highest WPA at 47.8.  Point leader Gauldin has the sixth highest WPA at 47.69.

Ryan King of Seymour, TN has the seventh highest WPA at 47.56 and is 15th in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 428 points earned in nine races over nine weeks.  Bridgmon has the eighth highest WPA at 47.55.

Rusty Ballenger of Sevierville, TN has the ninth highest WPA at 46.22 and is 18th in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 416 points earned in nine races over nine weeks.  Lee has the tenth highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers in the point standings at 45.75.
