NeSMITH/AR BODIES STREET STOCK DIVISION WEEK 14 PREVIEW

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

                CARTERSVILLE, GA – The halfway point of the 2015 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Presented By AR Bodies 27-week season has arrived.  There are five races in three states on the Week 14 schedule of events, and the top three drivers in the point standings have the potential to reach the 14 week mark of their season should they choose to run in Double Features.

                Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS will open NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division Week 14 action on Friday night.  The remaining four races will be contested on Saturday night.

                The $1,000-to-win race on Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL will be co-sanctioned by the Mississippi Street Stock Series.  Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS will host Double 15-lap $500-to-win Features with the first feature being a Week 8 Make-Up Race, and the second feature awarding Week 14 points. 

Also in action with NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division Week 14 races will be Southern Raceway in Milton, FL and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.  There will be plenty of drivers to watch in the point standings in the coming weeks, as the second half of the season will see many position changes in the Top 20.

                Richie Stephens of Salem, AL leads the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 580 points and has a 19-point lead over Branden Harris of Molino, FL, who is second in the standings with 561 points.  Jason Jarrell of Hattiesburg, MS is third with 523 points. 

Stephens, Harris and Jarrell all have 12 weeks of competition in the books, and can earn full points for two more weeks  With a driver’s season total being their best 14 weekly point totals, a driver will begin to net points once they reach the 14-week mark of their season.  They will try to replace the lowest of their best 14 with a higher weekly point total.

Larry Faulk of Monroeville, AL is fourth in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 495 points, and Bo Bailey of Milton, FL is fifth with 493 points.  Faulk and Bailey have competed for 11 weeks of competition.  Jay Geddie of Ellisville, MS and David Williamson of Seminary, MS are tied for the sixth spot with 450 points apiece.

Bubba McGhee of Atmore, AL is eighth in the standings with 439 points.  Geddie, Williamson and McGhee have all competed for ten weeks.  Kevin Mitchell of Pensacola, FL is ninth in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 414 points over nine weeks, and Cliff Childers of Terry, MS rounds out the Top 10 with 409 points after nine weeks of racing.

The driver with the highest Weekly Point Average, or WPA, among the Top 20 in the standings isn’t even in the Top 10 of the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division point standings.  Brooks Strength of Raymond, MS is 11th in the standings, but he has the highest WPA at 49.75 out of a possible 50.  Strength still has six more weeks to earn full points.

Point leader Stephens has the second highest WPA at 48.33, and the driver with the third highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division point standings is currently 14th.  Steve Pate of Heflin, AL has a WPA of 47.63 and six more weeks to earn full points.

Another driver to watch in the second half of the season is Calvin Cook of Pace, FL, who is currently 19th in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings, but he has the fourth highest WPA at 47.14, and seven more weeks to earn full points.  Harris has the fifth highest WPA at 46.75 and Mitchell has the sixth highest WPA at 46.

Childers has the seventh highest WPA at 45.44, and there is a three-way tie for the eighth spot to round out the Top 10 WPAs among the Top 20 drivers in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division point standings.  Faulk, Geddie, and Williamson all have WPAs of 45.

Drivers in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division will compete against each other nationally using a points system that will count their best 14 weekly point totals over a 27-week season from March 23 through September 27.  The $5,000 National point fund will pay $2,000 to the National Champion and pay back to the Top 10 drivers in the final point standings.

NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division competitors also have the option to compete with the economical steel-head 350 horsepower Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine that is available at NeSmith Chevrolet in Claxton, GA for $3,495 with free next day delivery anywhere in the Southeast.

NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 14 PREVIEW

                CARTERSVILLE, GA – There are nine races in six states on the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 14 schedule of events, as the 27-week season reaches the halfway point.  Even though the season has reached the 14-week mark, no driver will also reach that point of their season.  Point leader Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS has competed for the most weeks at 12.

                Week 14 of the 2015 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season will feature three races on Friday night and six races on Saturday night.  Friday night events are scheduled for Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS, Penton Raceway in Penton, AL, and Salina Speedway in Salina, KS.

                On Saturday night, Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS will host a $1,000-to-win I-20 Challenge Series race, and there will also be a $1,000-to-win race at Sabine Raceway in Many, LA for Round 4 of the Southern Crate Late Model Series and co-sanctioned by the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series.

                Round 8 of the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series will take place Saturday night at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL. Also in action on Saturday night with NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 14 events will be Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.

                Arnold has 585 points at the top of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings after nine wins, 12 top five finishes and 14 top ten finishes in 16 races over 12 weeks.  Arnold has a 77-point lead over Joseph Joiner of Milton, FL who has 508 points after one win, nine top five finishes and 11 top ten finishes in 12 races over 11 weeks.  Joiner also leads the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series point standings.

                Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 433 points after five wins, eight top five finishes and ten top ten finishes in ten races over nine weeks.  The 13-year-old driver also leads the Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series for NeSmith Late Model drivers 18 years of age and younger.

                Billy Riels Racing teammates Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS and the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS are fourth and fifth respectively in the point standings.  Lee has 429 points after one win and 11 top five finishes in 12 races over nine weeks. 

Daspit is tied for the fifth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS with 421 points apiece.  Daspit has four wins, six top five finishes and nine top ten finishes in ten races over nine weeks.  Jordan has two top five finishes and four top ten finishes in 12 races over ten weeks.

Three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Collinsville, MS is seventh in the standings with 373 points after one win, six top five finishes and nine top ten finishes in ten races over eight weeks.  Greg Fore of Greenville, MS is eighth with 369 points after one win, five top five finishes and seven top ten finishes in ten races over eight weeks.

Jamey Boland of Cuba, AL is ninth in the standings with 362 points after six top five finishes and seven top ten finishes in 11 races over eight weeks.  Al Kouhout of Hattiesburg, MS rounds out the Top 10 in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 343 points after six top ten finishes in eight races over eight weeks.

Looking at the Top 10 Weekly Point Averages, or WPAs, among the Top 20 drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings, Arnold has the highest WPA at 48.75 out of a possible 50.  Skinner has the second highest WPA at 48.11, and the third highest WPA belongs to the 11th-place driver in the point standings, Robbie Starnes of Livingston, TX, at 47.86.

Lee has the fourth highest WPA at 47.67, and the 12th-place driver in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings, Adam Cummings of Odenville, AL, has the fifth highest WPA at 47.29.  Daspit has the sixth highest WPA at 46.78, and Keeton has the seventh highest WPA at 46.63.

Joiner has the eighth highest WPA at 46.18, and Fore has the ninth highest WPA at 46.13.  Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS is 13th in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings, but he has the tenth highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers in the point standings at 46.

Drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series will compete against each other nationally using a points system that will count their best 14 weekly point totals over a 27-week season from March 23 through September 27.  The $20,000 National point fund will pay $10,000 to the National Champion and pay back to the Top 10 drivers in the final point standings.
